Chapter 143 - Dream Prophecy: Father's Call

Inside the ship, everyone gathered near the cockpit. Quill stood beside the pilot's seat, hands on his hips, his expression as complex as someone who had just walked out of an inexplicable sci-fi movie. He cleared his throat, trying to get everyone's attention.

"Everyone, listen up," Quill said with a serious face. "I have something I want to share with you. Just now, I had a dream... no, a premonition. Well, maybe it was a very strange dream, or maybe it was some kind of message from the Universe, but either way, it's important."

"Important enough to be more important than the parts I just stole?" Rocket leaned back in his seat, a hint of his usual sarcasm on his lips. "Don't tell me it's another hero dream, the kind where you and Gamora are dancing in the center of the galaxy."

"Hey! Rocket, don't interrupt!" Quill glared at Rocket. "This time it's really different."

"Let me guess," Gamora said coldly, arms crossed, leaning against the viewport. "You dreamed of some alien beauty and are trying to save the galaxy again?"

"No!" Quill waved his hand, looking a bit embarrassed. "Okay... in a way. But this time it wasn't my choice!"

Drax frowned, asking with his usual straightforward logic, "Why not by choice? Was the woman in the dream not beautiful enough?"

"It has nothing to do with being beautiful!" Quill was almost going crazy. "I dreamed of a glowing guy. He said he was looking for me, that I was of 'noble blood,' and then told me to find him. He also mentioned—" Quill pointed to himself. "He's my Father."

The entire ship fell into a brief silence, only the hum of the flight instruments echoing in the space. Then Rocket snorted, breaking the quiet. "Noble blood? Are you sure you weren't drunk in your dream and misread the bottle label?"

"Rocket!" Quill shouted in dissatisfaction. "I'm serious!"

"Wait," Gamora frowned, her eyes sharpening slightly. "Are you sure he said he was your Father?"

"Yes, and he also mentioned something about... danger, saying someone was watching me," Quill scratched his head. "He said there's a powerful person in our team with ulterior motives, possibly plotting against me."

"I am Groot," Groot raised his hand innocently.

"Groot, you're definitely not the problem," Quill quickly waved his hand. "I trust you."

Drax grinned, saying with certainty, "Clearly he's talking about me. After all, I am the most powerful warrior on this team."

"Oh, please," Rocket rolled his eyes dramatically. "You, powerful? Don't make me laugh. If that guy really wanted something from Quill, he'd probably have you under his foot by now."

"I never said it was Drax," Quill covered his face. "I don't even know who he meant by 'powerful person'! Anyway, the dream was just weird."

"Something makes me more curious," Gamora's voice was slightly cold but held a hint of scrutiny. "This so-called Father, did he mention a specific location?"

"He did," Quill nodded, a touch of hesitation in his voice. "He said to meet on some... Planet. He didn't say the specific Planet's name, but he hinted that we'd receive an invitation soon."

"Sounds like a trap," Gamora analyzed calmly.

"Or it could be an opportunity," Quill argued. "If he really is my Father—"

"Hold on," Rocket raised a paw. "Putting aside whether this glowing guy is your old man, why would he specifically point out 'there's a powerful person in the team'? Isn't that clearly trying to sow discord?"

"That's what I think too," Gamora nodded. "It sounds more like some kind of psychological tactic."

"Or, he knows something we don't know," Quill shrugged. "Anyway, I think we should go check it out."

"I agree to go," Drax immediately chimed in. "If this is a battle, I am ready to strike at any time."

"I am Groot," Groot happily echoed.

"Oh god, why is it always like this," Rocket rubbed his temples. "Fine, I'll go too. After all, I'm not going to let you idiots crash the ship into the center of a Planet."

"That's team spirit!" Quill slapped Rocket's shoulder hard, then turned to Dominic. "Hey, Dominic, what do you think?"

Dominic had been leaning against the wall in the corner of the ship, arms crossed. After hearing Quill's story, he raised an eyebrow slightly. "If what he said is true, then you should indeed go. Kinship is the rarest thing in the Universe."

"You actually support this?" Rocket looked at Dominic in surprise. "I thought you'd just scoff."

"My support doesn't mean I believe it," Dominic raised an eyebrow, a hint of playfulness flashing in his eyes. "I just want to see how Quill makes a fool of himself."

The ship started, hot flames shooting from the thrusters, slowly lifting off the surface of the transit Planet. Quill sat in the pilot's seat with a serious expression, his hands gripping the controls, his gaze fixed on the screen in front of him. "Alright, everyone, our destination is... uh, a mysterious Planet that doesn't have a name yet." He paused, then added mysteriously, "But it's definitely important."

Rocket sat in the co-pilot's seat, skillfully flipping switches on the dashboard, muttering under his breath, "Important my butt, you don't even know the name of the destination. This sounds like a five-dollar sci-fi story."

"Shut up, Rocket," Quill shot him a sideways glance. "At least I dare to trust my instincts."

"That's not instinct, that's stupid-stinct," Rocket scoffed, rolling his eyes.

Gamora leaned against the side of the cabin, arms crossed, watching their bickering with a cold eye. She muttered under her breath, "I hope this 'instinct' doesn't get us wanted again."

"Don't worry, Gamora," Quill turned his head and gave her his signature smile. "Nothing will go wrong this time. After all, I am Star-Lord."

"I really don't know what's so proud about that name," Gamora retorted mercilessly, her gaze sweeping past Quill and landing on Dominic, who was sitting in the corner of the cabin. "But honestly, I'm more worried about this 'powerful man'."

Dominic leaned back lazily in his seat, spinning an apple in one hand, the other resting casually on his knee. Hearing Gamora's question, he just tilted his head slightly, revealing a meaningful smile. "Worried about me? Don't bother. I'm not interested in Quill, and I'm not interested in his old man either."

"Then why exactly are you following us?" Gamora pressed, a hint of wariness in her eyes.

"Entertainment," Dominic answered lightly, then took a bite of the apple. "You lot are more interesting than the gladiator fights in the Void."

"That's your reason?" Rocket's eyes widened. "You're following us for entertainment? Shouldn't you be paying some 'entertainment fee'?"

Dominic snorted, too lazy to bother with Rocket's taunt, and instead looked at Quill in the pilot's seat. "Seriously, Quill, this 'Father' of yours sounds like a swindler selling used ships. Are you sure you want to meet him?"

Quill was stung by the remark and was speechless for a moment, but still responded stubbornly, "Of course I'm sure! He... he's my Dad."

"Then you should be careful," Dominic said with a hint of mockery in his tone. "Some things, the truth is often more bizarre than dreams."

Drax sat on the long bench in the center of the cabin, listening to their conversation, and suddenly interjected, "If that man is truly Quill's Father, why doesn't he come directly to find us? Why use a dream to convey the message?"

"Perhaps he has his reasons," Quill shrugged. "Or, maybe he just wants to give me a surprise."

"Surprise?" Drax frowned, clearly confused by the concept. "A surprise should be a good thing. But his words didn't sound friendly at all."

"I agree with Drax," Gamora nodded. "Regardless, we need to stay vigilant. This so-called Father may not be as 'noble' as he claims."

"Think what you want," Quill turned back, focusing on flying. "We'll see when we get there."

The ship entered hyperspace, the stars outside turning into countless streaking lines of light, as if time and space were receding rapidly. Groot held a small pot of plants, sitting quietly in the corner, gently poking the soil in the pot with a twig.

"I am Groot," Groot suddenly spoke.

"Yes, Groot," Rocket responded lazily. "You're also the only member of the team who doesn't argue."

The ship gradually quieted down, with only the hum of the instruments and the occasional rustling of leaves from Groot. However, this calm didn't last long. Quill suddenly slapped the dashboard and announced loudly, "We're almost there! Prepare to decelerate!"

Rocket quickly operated the instruments, ensuring everything was under control, while not forgetting to complain, "I hope this time we don't end up getting thrown directly into a Planet's volcano like last time."

"That was an accident," Quill retorted in dissatisfaction.

"Your whole life is an accident," Rocket replied with a cold laugh.

The ship gradually slowed down, the starlight re-condensing into points. A Planet emitting a strange light appeared before them. Quill took a deep breath, gripped the controls, his tone a mix of anticipation and nervousness. "Alright, everyone, welcome to... uh, the mysterious Planet that doesn't have a name yet."
