New York on Earth was as bustling and "peaceful" as ever—under the unshakable pillar of the Arbitrators organization, chaos and supercrime had long become cold terms in history books.
Sunlight pierced through the glass curtain walls of skyscrapers, casting geometric light patterns on the streets.
People hurried along, their faces bearing the era's accustomed sense of security.
Peter Parker, our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, had just finished a trivial community "favor"—helping an old lady find her lost cat.
He was now effortlessly swinging on his webs, tracing smooth arcs between the tall buildings.
Aunt Mei's instructions echoed in his ears: "Peter, remember to buy eggs! We're out!" His destination was the familiar grocery store on the corner.
Just as he executed a graceful swing, preparing to propel himself towards the block where the grocery store was located—
Buzz!
Without warning!
A holographic screen, emitting a faint blue light, materialized directly in front of his eyes! It was just large enough to cover his entire field of vision!
"Whoa!" Peter cried out, his body abruptly halting in mid-air! Inertia carried him straight towards a giant neon billboard nearby!
In the nick of time, his wrist instinctively shot out a web, forcibly changing his trajectory, and he awkwardly plastered himself against the cold exterior wall of a nearby building.
"Phew… that was close!" Peter gasped for breath, his heart still pounding.
He looked at the screen suspended in the air with a mix of surprise and uncertainty.
The screen's material and glow were unusually strange, definitely not any Earth or Stark Industries technology he knew of. It floated silently, its edges flowing with subtle, seemingly living energy streams.
"Friday?" Peter whispered, staring warily at the screen, "What new trick is this of yours? You scared me to death!"
The AI butler's clear, calm voice, tinged with a hint of confusion, immediately came through his earpiece: "Peter, my sensors have not detected any abnormal display units appearing at your location. Scan results show no obstacles in the airspace in front of you. What are you seeing?"
Peter's brows furrowed instantly.
Friday couldn't see it? Was this screen only visible to him? A chill crept up his spine.
He took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down.
Since Friday couldn't see it, he had to rely on himself.
He cautiously extended a finger, with utmost vigilance, and lightly touched the screen emitting an ominous blue light.
Swish—
The strange, unidentifiable symbols that had been flowing like mercury on the screen began to coalesce!
In their place appeared standard English:
Super Hero—Spider-Man, Peter Parker.
Your World is about to be destroyed.
Are you willing to sacrifice your life to fight for it?
You will face the most heinous villainous threats from across the multiverse.
Upon failure, your World will be completely erased.
Agree Decline
The text was as cold as an inscription on a tombstone, every word like a heavy hammer striking Peter's heart.
"My… my World… destroyed?" Peter's voice was dry and hoarse, his face instantly turning pale.
Multiverse villains? Sacrifice life? Completely erased? The sheer amount of information contained in just a few lines of text made his mind go blank, and fear gripped his heart.
He could barely breathe, his finger hovering over the [Agree] and [Decline] options, trembling violently, unable to click down.
"F-F-Friday!" His voice trembled with fear, "Did you see it? The words on the screen! It said…"
"Peter, I still cannot detect any display signals." Friday's voice became urgent, "But I received an emergency assembly order from Mr. Stark! Priority: Highest! All personnel! Return to Arbitrator Tower immediately! Currently, the silver wing fierce star is heading towards your airspace."
"All… all personnel?" Peter suddenly realized something, and a chill shot from his feet to the top of his head!
"Yes, Peter!" Friday's tone was unprecedentedly grave, "Mr. Stark, Captain, Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel… all online Arbitrators members, at the exact same second just now, reported encountering holographic screens with 'World destruction warnings' that could not be externally detected! The content is similar to what you described, but it targets their respective identities!"
"Oh my God…" Peter gasped, feeling utterly cold.
This wasn't a prank or an accident targeting him alone!
This was a synchronized doomsday notice targeting Earth's entire protective force, transcending the scope of existing technological understanding!
Tony's irritable voice directly blasted through Peter's earpiece, replacing Friday:
"Peter! Stand by! The silver wing fierce star will be over your head to pick you and Daredevil up! Assemble in Malibu!"
"Mr. Stark?! What in the World is going on?!" Peter's voice was sharp, his heart pounding in his throat.
"I don't know! We'll talk when we meet!" Tony spoke rapidly, with no time to explain. Immediately after, Peter heard Tony roaring to someone nearby on the other end of the communication:
"Damn it! Why isn't Chen Tian answering his comms?!"
"Happy! Get your ass to his office! If you can't find him, ask his wife!"
Peter suddenly remembered and quickly shouted into the comms:
"Mr. Stark! Mr. Chen Tian isn't here! He went to another dimension!"
Tony on the other end was clearly stunned: "What dimension?!"
"Deadpool was arrested by the TVA! Mr. Chen Tian went to find him!" Peter spoke extremely fast.
"F***!" Tony let out an irritable curse, "Alright! Got it! Wait where you are! The silver wing fierce star will be there soon!"
Snap!
The communication was unilaterally cut off by Tony, swift and decisive.
Peter stood frozen, his face blank.
Mr. Stark didn't know either? What was the origin of this sudden doomsday notice and the bizarre blue screen?!
Boom!
The silver-white fighter jet tore through the clouds, its rear hatch bursting open. Dante stood in the hatch, one hand gripping the handle, his red trench coat flapping in the wind: "Spider-Man! Get in!"
Without a word, Peter flung a web and launched himself into the cabin.
He ripped off his mask, his face pale: "Mr. Dante! Do you know about that blue screen—"
"Can't see it." Dante shrugged, chewing gum, "Even though you all keep saying there's some blue display in front of you, I haven't seen even a single pixel."
Peter was also confused after hearing Dante's words and plopped down in a seat.
'Can't see it? Is Mr. Dante not a Super Hero? That's not right.'
Just as Peter was completely bewildered, the fighter jet swooped down to pick up Daredevil.
As soon as Matt entered the cabin, he said in a deep voice: "This is the first time I've realized that I'm not actually blind."
Dante and Peter looked at Matt in confusion. After Matt put down his cane, he said, "Normally, my vision should be a complete darkness, but this blue screen," he extended his hand and pointed at the air.
"It appeared directly in the center, like a light in the darkness."
Dante scoffed after hearing this, "It seems what you're talking about isn't technology, but a kind of dimensional magic."
Whoosh—!
The silver wing fierce star's engines roared, tearing through the sky, and the skyscrapers of New York below rapidly shrank.
"magic?" Peter and Matt asked simultaneously.
Dante leaned back in his seat: "We'll talk about it when we get back." He nodded his chin towards the viewport, "We'll be there soon."
Arbitrator Tower's top-floor tactical conference room.
Tony stood in front of the holographic table, arms crossed, his face ashen.
Captain America Steve's brows were tightly furrowed.
Thor held Stormbreaker, lightning crackling on its axe-blade.
In the shadows of the corner—Loki, the God of Mischief, calmly played with a dagger, a faint, cold smile playing on his lips. (Was he also considered a Super Hero?)
Dante and the other two pushed the door open and entered.
"Quiet!" Tony slammed his hand on the table.
The buzzing discussions instantly ceased.
Tony's sharp gaze swept across the room: "That blue screen, it's still stuck in front of each of you, right?"
The heroes in the room all looked grim, nodding silently.
"Heh!" Tony sneered, raising his voice, "Putting on such a big show, using a holographic projection to mess with us? What kind of dimensional genius's prank is this, damn it?!"
Captain America said in a deep voice: "Tony, we can't jump to conclusions about whether it's a prank, we need to…"
"Need my ass!" Thor's thunderous voice boomed, his beard bristling.
"Asgardians are never coerced! I'd like to see what it can do to me if I don't press this damned 'Agree'!"
These words instantly ignited the entire room!
"Thor's right!" Tony's eyes lit up, a ruthless curve forming on his lips, "I'd like to see what kind of tricks this damn thing can pull!"
"Yes! We won't choose!"
"Who are you trying to scare?!"
The conference room was filled with righteous indignation; everyone was furious at the humiliating notice, and Thor's suggestion truly resonated with them!
At that very moment—
Buzz!
The blue screens in front of all the heroes flickered violently!
Blinding scarlet text instantly covered the previous options:
Warning: All unconfirmed individuals!
Failure to make a selection (agree/refuse) within 30 seconds will automatically be deemed a refusal to participate in the battle!
Annihilation protocol… initiating!
Countdown: 29… 28… 27…
The numbers pulsed wildly like a heart monitor!
"What the FU— —?!" Tony's eyes nearly popped out of his head!
"Enemy attack!!!" Captain America instantly raised his vibranium shield!
Thor roared, lightning coiling around his body!
Doctor Strange pulled out a magic shield with both hands! Cyclops's ruby quartz visor glowed with dangerous light! Wanda spread her hands, and a red shield enveloped 2B and Kiana!
The entire conference room exploded like ice thrown into boiling oil!
The heroes reflexively assumed their strongest combat stances, energy blasts, the clang of weapons being drawn, and roars mingled in a chaotic mess!
Panic spread!
The numbers coldly ticked down to: …3… 2… 1…
Time ran out!
The conference room fell silent, everyone held their breath, muscles tensed to the limit, waiting for the legendary "annihilation" to descend!
One second.
Two seconds.
Three seconds.
…Nothing happened.
Just as everyone was filled with doubt and uncertainty, the cold text suddenly twisted and melted, transforming into a series of huge, gaudy, still-pulsating colorful characters, even followed by a mocking emoticon:
Σ(っ°Д°;)っ Just kidding! Hahahaha, a bunch of idiots!
Gotcha?! ( ̄▽ ̄)~*
"Damn it!!!"
The entire conference room erupted! Thor roared, wanting to smash the air, Tony's repulsor rays shone blindingly, and Captain America was already swinging his shield!
Just at the peak of this volcanic rage—
Buzz!
The mocking text instantly melted and reformed into a cold declaration:
"I don't care whether you agree or not—welcome to my playground!"
Boom!
The blue screens in front of all the heroes violently exploded! A furious blue light instantly swallowed every hero's figure in the conference room!
Blinding light! So bright it made it impossible to open one's eyes!
The light flashed and vanished!
The conference room was instantly empty!
Tony, Captain America, Thor, Loki, Doctor Strange, Wanda, Captain Marvel, Thor, Daredevil, Spider-Man…
Everyone! Along with their roars, energy blasts, and weapons, all vanished without a trace!
The room, which had just been packed with top-tier powerhouses, now only had cold alloy walls and a still-humming holographic projection stand.
Dead silence.
Absolute dead silence.
Dante forgot to chew the gum in his mouth.
2B's tactical visor instantly locked onto and scanned the entire space, data streams refreshing madly.
Kiana's twin guns clicked open, cautiously pointing in all directions.
In the corner, Professor X's face changed dramatically, and the few remaining X-Men behind him—all looked as if they were facing a formidable enemy!
"Charles?!" Beast's voice was hoarse, his nostrils flaring, but he couldn't smell a single familiar scent.
Professor X didn't answer. A look of horror appeared on his aged face, and he unhesitatingly extended two fingers, pressing them firmly against his temples!
A powerful telepathic wave, like an invisible storm, instantly swept through the entire Arbitrator Tower, the entire city, the entire Planet!
One second.
Two seconds.
Three seconds.
Professor X suddenly opened his eyes, his pupils contracting violently, his voice dry and heavy with disbelief:
"Nothing… there's nothing!"
"Their life signals… their psychic fluctuations…"
"Completely vanished!"
"Not in any corner of this World!"
Pop!
Dante blew a gum bubble, a cold smirk on his lips: "Heh, to be able to instantly package so many tough nuts… this enemy, their move isn't small."
"Hmm." 2B's voice was calm, her tactical visor flickering faintly, "But he clearly missed crucial information."
Kiana's small face was tense, her twin guns twirling nimbly in her palms: "So what do we do now? Wait for dear (Chen Tian) to come back?"
Dante stood up, his boot tip gently tapping the floor, making a crisp sound.
"Big nephew? Most likely he'll also be 'invited' to that damned party, right?" He scanned the empty conference room with a hint of amusement.
Professor X was about to ask about this mysterious conversation when 2B already turned to him, her voice clear and decisive:
"Mr. Xavier. X-Men. Mutant Academy."
"Please gather all personnel immediately at Arbitrator Tower."
Her gaze pierced through her visor, and she spoke solemnly:
"From this moment on, until the heroes return— "
"The global security defense system, with highest authority, is temporarily transferred to you and the Mutant forces under your command."
"Global peace, for now, is in your keeping."
Professor X's pupils constricted, instantly understanding the gravity of the current situation and his responsibility.
Without any hesitation, he pressed his two fingers to his temples again, and a powerful psychic force instantly transcended space, directly echoing a clear and unmistakable rallying cry in the minds of all X-Men and core students:
All X-Men and core students! Highest alert!
Drop everything immediately!
At the fastest speed!
To Arbitrator Tower—emergency assembly!
Rogue, Colossus, Nightcrawler, etc.—familiar figures, with incredibly solemn expressions and instantly ignited combat stances, rapidly converged from various entrances, platforms, and passages of the Arbitrator Tower!
The entire Arbitrator Tower was instantly enveloped by a heavy, mountain-like, yet poised-for-war atmosphere!
Rip!
The space on the top floor of Arbitrator Tower was violently torn open like ragged cloth!
Chen Tian stepped out, still surrounded by the chaotic aura of spatial turbulence.
Buzz!
The eerie blue light screen instantly popped up before his eyes, the cold annihilation warning identical.
Chen Tian's gaze swept over it, he snorted coldly, ignoring it completely, and strode towards the tactical conference room.
The door opened.
The expected arguments and noise were absent. Only Dante chewing gum, 2B standing still and scanning, Kiana pacing anxiously, and the grim, iron-like faces of Professor X and some X-Men.
It was empty. Tony, Captain, Thor… all gone! The vast conference room was chillingly empty.
"Dear!" Kiana's eyes lit up, and she pounced like a small cannonball, hugging Chen Tian's arm tightly, her words coming out like a machine gun: "It was terrifying just now! Whoosh! Uncle Tony and them all disappeared because of that blue screen! Just a whoosh! A flash of blue light! Professor Charles said they were all gone! Couldn't find them! All gone! Uncle Tony and them said they wanted to fight back and not choose, but they were tricked and then they were all packaged and taken away!…"
Chen Tian listened expressionlessly, his gaze sweeping to Dante. "Packaged?"
Dante shrugged, blowing a bubble: "Uh-huh, it was quite lively, all rounded up."
He pointed to his eyes: "2B, Kiana, and I, and these few Mutant brothers, didn't trigger that thing."
"Heh, Beyonder loves to play these games." Chen Tian's tone was cold, and he turned his gaze to Professor X: "Charles."
Professor X immediately straightened, his wheelchair tilting slightly forward: "Mr. Chen, Tony and them…"
"I know." Chen Tian interrupted him, his words decisive: "This place, I leave it to you. Guard the Blue Planet well. Don't disappoint me."
The immense pressure made Professor X's breath catch, but he didn't hesitate at all, nodding heavily: "Understood! As long as there's one X-Men left, the Blue Planet will be safe!"
Chen Tian no longer looked at him, his gaze turning to Dante, 2B, and Kiana, speaking concisely: "Let's go."
He waved his hand, and Dante and the others instantly vanished into thin air.
Then he raised his hand, and without hesitation, poked the 'Agree' option on the blue light screen that was still suspended before his eyes, visible only to him—
"Agree!"
Buzz—!
Black mist instantly erupted from Chen Tian's fingertip, swallowing him like a living creature!
There was no blue light like the one that had made Tony and the others disappear; it was as if he had been deleted from the air, Chen Tian vanished from the spot, leaving no trace.
In the conference room, only the heavy breathing of the X-Men remained, and a profound silence
