Late at night, deep within an unknown mountain range, Magneto rode in on the alloy disc beneath his feet.
His gaze fell upon the endless mountains ahead. Through metal sensing, he could tell that there was a massive base hidden within.
So this is the Hydra base Charles detected? Magneto thought. He let out a cold snort, thrust both hands forward, and clenched them sharply.
Under his control, the metal objects inside the underground base suddenly went berserk, flying wildly in every direction at incredible speed.
The steel-reinforced walls began to fracture at a rapid rate, huge chunks of rock collapsing as death spread swiftly within.
Rumble— Rumble—!
The land rolled and sank in waves. The underground base was now completely buried beneath it.
"Erik, you should check if there are any innocent people inside first," Professor X sighed into Magneto's mind using his psychic ability.
"Are there mutants in there? If not, then there's no need to hold back. Tell me the next location," Magneto replied coldly.
It hadn't been easy for Bai Ye to create such a good environment for mutants, and yet there were still people trying to overthrow his rule. It was basically asking for death.
To protect the living conditions of mutants, no amount of ruthlessness on his part was excessive.
Seeing his old friend like this, Professor X said helplessly, "According to my detection, the next Hydra base has mutants being experimented on. Save them first before you make a move."
"Got it," Magneto said.
Meanwhile, at a certain military base in North America, several nuclear missiles—launched under authorized orders—shot into the sky, heading toward a gathering of several thousand people in South Africa.
A few minutes later, with the mutual detonation of the nukes, the entire encampment was effortlessly wiped flat.
"Confirmed. No survivors under the nuclear strike," Professor X informed General Ross telepathically.
Receiving the result, Ross quietly crossed out one line on the rebel list before applying for another nuclear strike on the next concentration of rebels.
With global regions now united, all nuclear weapons worldwide had been handed over under Bai Ye's control. As long as the conditions were appropriate, deploying them was not difficult.
With global nuclear reserves exceeding ten thousand, wiping out opposition with nukes—so long as humanitarian issues were ignored—was hardly a challenge.
At Bai Ye's single command, to ensure that nothing unexpected ruined tomorrow's coronation ceremony, and to avoid provoking their living god into causing an even bigger commotion, the military might of the entire world began operating at full force.
Under Professor X's detection, under the combined assault of top experts, armies, and nuclear cleansing, the already-struggling opposition forces were being eradicated at terrifying speed.
Amid the screams and wails of the hostile factions, the night dragged on endlessly.
…
In the White House, Stark glared angrily at the elderly man forced to kneel by agents, his tone full of bitter disappointment.
"Obadiah, what am I even supposed to say to you?"
Stark slammed his right hand on the table. "I let you off once already. Why would you join Hydra, S.H.I.E.L.D., and those rebels again?"
Stark had never expected that one of those who leaked intel and colluded with the enemy… was his own uncle, Obadiah.
Because their trip to Afghanistan had gone too smoothly, Bai Ye had mentioned Obadiah's betrayal, but out of pity, Stark hadn't punished his uncle severely.
Instead, after being designated by Bai Ye as a global administrator, he had simply ignored him—only for this man to cause such massive trouble now.
"Tony, Tony, I'm your uncle!" Obadiah cried, tears streaming down his face, kneeling and begging. "I was confused, manipulated by Hydra. Give me another chance! After Howard died, I'm your only family!"
Stark's expression twisted in painful conflict.
Everyone else who had colluded had already been killed by Fisk, but because this man was related to him, he had been sent directly to Stark.
The message was obvious:I'm giving you face by letting you deal with him. If you can't bear to let your family die, then go beg Mr. Bai yourself.
Looking at the old man groveling, sobbing, and regretting everything, Stark let out a long sigh and covered his face tightly with both hands.
"Obadiah Stane is guilty of treason. Execute him by slow dismemberment and display his body. All associates within three degrees of relation—execute them as well."
"No—Tony—Stark—you can't do this! You can't!"
Obadiah tried to argue, but the Secret Service agents immediately stepped forward, dragging him away.
Knowing he was beyond salvation, he glared at Stark with wide, furious eyes and roared:
"You cold-blooded beast! Do you know why I betrayed you? Everyone following Fisk and Rodriguez rose to power and glory, but you wouldn't even give Stark Industries to me! You gave it to your secretary instead—what does she even—"
Stark, sitting silently in his chair, waved his hand dismissively.
Obadiah's mouth was covered at once, and he was dragged out amid muffled sobs.
Only now did Stark fully feel the burden of being an executor.
He wanted to enforce justice fairly, but his own followers couldn't help feeling jealous when compared to Fisk's and Rodriguez's men—former criminals who were now thriving.
He could meet his subordinates' financial needs, but the psychological corruption brought by higher power was too strong—especially when they believed it should be theirs.
He trusted himself not to be corrupted, but his men? That was another story.
Now, as Fisk's power grew ever larger, the old supervillains from all over the world were swarming under him, each gaining an official position due to their unique talents.
Though Bai Ye's pressure kept them from acting too openly…
They still had to provide Stark with lists of crimes before killing someone, and even visiting prostitutes required paperwork and receipts.Yet with their nature, the whole situation was practically a circus of chaotic demons.
"So where am I supposed to find people as steadfast and reliable as myself?" Stark pondered. Then, a new plan emerged in his mind.
"Jarvis, pull up a full list of all super-heroes and their personal backgrounds. I want it now."
In the next moment, a global superhero registry appeared before him. Looking at names like the Punisher, Spider-Man, Daredevil, and thousands more, Stark's eyes grew brighter and brighter.
"Good. Let superheroes hold office. Let heroes investigate heroes. Let good men investigate good men."
"Jarvis can handle the planning as an AI, and for enforcement, let these superheroes go head-to-head with Fisk's people! Right back to their original line of work!"
A grin spread across Stark's face. He could already picture it—superheroes and supervillains in government, hurling insults across the political arena, occasionally throwing a few punches for good measure.
