Ezrik ended up waking Chess up and explaining Willow's plan as the group led them toward the cave spot.
"So the cameras aren't working anymore?" Lars asked, shocked.
Ezrik nodded. "Yeah."
"This Willow is badass," Lars scoffed.
Ezrik gave him a look. "That's my girlfriend you're talking about."
Lars raised both hands in surrender. "Alright, alright."
"You're so creepily possessive, Ezrik Veyne," Reed laughed.
Ezrik ignored him, and they kept walking until the cave finally came into sight. At least three Genesis students lingered around the entrance, tense and ragged. Ezrik's eyes scanned the place and landed right on Quinn making out with a girl perched on his lap.
Ezrik let out a long, exhausted sigh. "Of course."
Quinn must have heard his voice because he tore himself away from the girl, scrambling toward Ezrik. "You're alive!"
