Silence fell instantly.
Twenty-four professors, both Nexus and Genesis, sat rigid, representing each team deployed in the forest.
Everyone except Sylas.
He lounged in the doorway like he had all the time in the world, arms folded, one ankle casually crossed over the other. While the others exchanged tense, bewildered glances, clearly blindsided by everything that had unfolded.
Sylas' lips twitched in something close to amusement.
On the massive screen, the forest feed continued to play. Torn bodies littered the ground. Surviving students sprinting through the trees. Panic and carnage replayed in high definition.
But out of everything they had witnessed, only one image refused to leave Sylas' mind..
Willow. She was bleeding and outnumbered. And still ripping a Night Stalker open.
