Chapter 4 - The Thought Process

The first time Alex met Lucas was in tenth grade, and it was an experience unlike any other! To be precise, it was the first time he had a close-up encounter with Lucas, and anticipation crackled in the air.

Usually, he only caught fleeting glimpses of him at parties, where Lucas was always enveloped by the Walker family, scheming to tarnish the Dawson Group's reputation.

Every single time at those gatherings, the name Lucas

; echoed around him, charged with excitement. People seemed to buzz about him, portraying him as an incredible dominant alpha, a captivating man who drew everyone's curiosity!...

But the distinction between an enigma and a dominant alpha... It was endlessly intriguing!... Enigmas were supposed to possess an unmatched strength, but their pheromones... They radiated a delicate sophistication, a soft elegance, contrasting sharply with the alphas.

Surprisingly, Alex had never really paid heed to all the conversations swirling around. He felt no inclination towards Lucas, not until that moment when their eyes finally met.

His situation was unconventional; despite being from a family with both parents being differentiated, he hadn't presented as either an alpha or an omega. Most assumed he was a beta due to his softer demeanor and notably larger frame than the typical omega.

Yet, when he finally laid eyes on Lucas, a wave of fascination washed over him, leaving him speechless.

"That's... Lucas," Alex mumbled under his breath, heart racing with wonder.

"You're gonna create a hole in him if you keep staring like that!" a teasing voice jolted him from his thoughts. It was Seth, Alex's best friend, grinning with mischief.

Alex sprang into defense mode,

"I wasn't! Okay?"

Seth chuckled, clearly reveling in the moment. "Yeah... right, you weren't."

"Whatever..." Alex shot back, turning away, but Seth trailed closely behind, laughter trailing in his wake.

*Back to the present,* Alex found himself in disbelief once more.

Lucas didn't fit the conventional mold of an alpha during schooldays, yet every fiber of his being screamed that he was one. His physique alone was enough to send a thrill through Alex, and his facial features held an intriguing blend of warmth and distance.

Even now, as he processed everything about Lucas, excitement bubbled within him. But that was all there was about Lucas for Alex. The amount of resentment towards Lucas in Alex's heart was thorough.

*Ugh..* Alex was a bit nauseous

Then suddenly, a wave of panic washed over Alex as he remembered that he hadn't used protection when they were doing it. This thought hit him like a freight train, overshadowing all the thoughts that had previously surged.

"What if…?"

The question lingered in the back of his mind, a mix of dread and uncertainty. He had never thought he would end up in such a situation, especially with someone like Lucas. Now the thought morphed into a knot of anxiety in his stomach...

Seth's voice pulled Alex back to the moment.

"Hey, you good? You've gone pale,"

He said, concern etching his features as he noticed Alex's sudden change in demeanor. While Alex was deep in thought Seth had come to check on him. Worried about what happened last night and Alex hadn't shown up to work which was very unlike of him.

"Yeah, just… thinking," Alex replied, his voice shaky.

He tried to brush it off... The thrill of attraction was quickly being eclipsed by a wave of worry. Alex had always wanted to have a child, but he didn't like getting near any Alpha; their pheromones always disgusted him.

"What about?" Seth pressed, his brow furrowing.

"Just… Lucas," Alex muttered, his mind racing as he tried to process everything. Now tangled with fear and regret.

"I need to figure this out," Alex said while standing up.

Seth asked;

"Figure...What!..out?"
