"Sister Eve…"
Stella's soft voice from the doorway broke the warm bubble surrounding Evelyn and Oliver.
Both of them turned toward the sound.
Stella stood there, tears in her eyes, trying and failing to hide her emotions. Behind her, Laura hovered close, equally misty-eyed, clutching her hands together as if she were the one recovering from surgery.
"Oh! Aunty Stella… Laura..." Oliver brightened instantly. He twisted around on the bed and waved enthusiastically. "Come here. Hurry... My mommy already woke up!"
He announced it proudly, as if the heart monitor and very much awake Evelyn were not enough proof.
Stella and Laura laughed at the same time, the tension easing as they stepped into the VIP ward.
"Stella, you come…" Evelyn said weakly, attempting to shift her body and sit up straighter.
Before she could move an inch, Stella rushed forward.
"Sis, stay on the bed. Don't make a move!"
