"Seira, please go out with me!"
I watched in confusion as Abednigo handed out a dozen of black Dong-A gellpoint pen right in front of me while he asked me out.
Abednigo Rodriguez is what most would call an "unusual popular guy". Normally, guys or girls became popular through either their looks, wealth, intelligence, or talent, with looks being the top of the list. Unlike the rest of the popular guys on this school, he's unusual. Everyone knows him for his intelligence as he is one of the smartest people in school. The downside is his introversion. People would only remember him everytime he excels in any kind of quizzes or exams. Other than that, he would often kept to himself, almost as if he was like a ghost.
I knew this because I observed him for far longer than necessary. As an ambivert with a dominant introvert personality, I would often observed everyone out of habit. He is one of the few people on this school that got my attention.
My behavior might be stalkerish in nature but I have no other choice. I don't trust people easily despite looking "friendly", according to everyone else.
That unusual popular guy right now was confessing to me. I raised an eyebrow at his confession. "Rodriguez, out of all the people in this school, why would you ask me out?"
His answer made me chuckle in amusement. "I... honestly don't know. I just feel like should do so. This weird feeling within me told me that asking you out on a date is the right thing to do."
"Ho? You're quite amusing. Alright, how about this? I'll go out with you. We'll become "couples" for two months. Within that time frame, you'll figure out what your feelings really are for me while I'll see whether I like you back or not. After the two-month deadline, we'll know whether we should become official couples or not," said I while I gave him a small smile. I accepted his gift for me.
His current expression made me imagine a puppy wagging his tail after I gave him treats. "T-Thank you, Seira." He then sported a confused expression, "Um, Seira, why did you accept my confession just now? Usually, girls would be turned off from pathetic reasons such as mine."
"It's because you are honest."
My answer caught him off guard. "Eh?"
"That's the reason why I accept. You are honest which is rare among those who would complement a person or spout some lies when being asked why they like someone. Although you cannot exactly call it a full acceptance since I've also made some conditions. Also, you gave me pens, which is far better than roses or chocolates, in my opinion. They're useful and I actually needed them. I would have immediately rejected you if you gave me those common gifts." My face scrunched up with mild disgust at the prospect of being received flowers. I'm highly allergic to pollen and roses have them so I would rather not accept them.
His face glowed with delight. He really is like a puppy. "Ah, I see. Thank you then for telling me. So, shall I pick you up later at 5:00 pm?"
I gave him a small smile, a blush evident on his face, "Sure."
