Chapter 13 - Blossoms

With slow and heavy steps, Inezeya pressed on in pain, watching the ground with a busy mind.

"Just keep on… Cover your ears… and never look up…"

Blood streamed like a river down the staircase as the entity above trailed him, wailing his name. His arms stretched farther, nearly torn apart… He kept climbing in torment.

The blood began to flow like a river, and the being above continued to follow him and call out.

His resistance to ignoring broke down. Inezeya paused and glanced upward, watching its face with tired eyes.

"Why are you doing this?… I really can't understand… It's not my fault…"

Higanbana leaves floated from its mouth. Parts of its mouth were ripped, showing teethbones.

"Find…"

Inezeya's eyes widened…

"...Me…"

As his heart trembled, his pupils widened. Adrenaline filled his muscles, covering his tiredness and pain. He glanced at the coffin.

"Its weight feels light… as a feather…"

Steam surged from his mouth…

With an immense speed he sprinted upward. The coffin flew tied to the chains. The entity maintained his speed. Wind caused by his speed, blew the higanbana leaves raining down.

Within minutes his mind began to cloud. Adrenaline devoured all his energy and power to move forward. The exit came into sight. His breath came short, in pain. Beginning to feel numb, his vision mixed altogether.

The staircase twisted…

Despite dizziness and twistment he rushed forward.

Each step mixed his mind.

Misstepping on the last stair, his foot slipped…

And flew through the exit…

After the entity that followed him turned entirely into higanbana leaves, they flowed down onto the surface. Inezeya fell onto the ground covered in those leaves. He tiredly watched the ceiling filled with clouds and chains. His body gave up.

Still raining, hibangana leaves shone upon the ground. Stems grew between them, blooming into red spider lilies. Between the clouds flared orange lights, enlightening the drifting dust.

Approaching the sanctum, the man lifted Inezeya onto his shoulder and moved forward.

The huge sanctum resembled a colosseum. Its walls were lined with tiers of stone seats. Statues of soldiers and winged men sat gazing at the floor. The tiers descended downward. Between some of their sides appeared staircases. Massive pillars descended along them.

The man walked downward along the stairs, dragging Inezeya. Inezeya hung lifelessly on his shoulder, watching the floor. The coffin slid from stair to stair.

At the bottom of the tiers, a narrow river curved from left to right. After crossing it, staircases rose again.

Climbing the stairs, they finally reached the end of the sanctum.

An enormous and muscular masculine statue with four arms stood at the center of the end. His curvy long hair swung around. At the upper back of his head rested a wheel-like ring with spikes pointing in every direction. It was his crown. Clouds made of stone and steeled chains covered his lower body, slinging through his heavily muscled upper body. The clouds and chains stretched up, covering the ceiling. It was the god of the temple.

In front of the divine statue, stood a stand shaped entirely of hands for a coffin.

Approaching the stand, the man placed the coffin chained to Inezeya inside it. Afterwards he laid Inezeya within the coffin. He pulled a sculpted hand from the stand. A long blade was attached to the hand. Pulling out the blade, chains entered through the holes of the coffin. Through the sanctum slithered more chains. All of them heated up, burning his body.

Chains bound to the coffin pulled it upward, twisting it vertically. The coffin hung upside down in midair. With empty eyes and a lifeless body, Inezeya gazed at the man clenching the sword in his hand. His chin hung stretched upside down, revealing his entire neck. His lips locked from exhaustion. His mind was clouded. In his mind only one word echoed…

"Father…"

Pulling off the scarf from his neck, his father threw it aside. Taking a step forward, he rotated his body with all his might. Sweeping the sword toward Inezeya's neck…

Within milliseconds, the sharp blade approached near his neck…

Suddenly…

A blazing chain pierced through the center of the man's head. Sudden pain made him lose balance and strength…

His hand slid downward, slicing Inezeya's chin…

Light shimmered through the stone clouds, illuminating them…

And a huge entity behind them…

The lower two muscular white arms stretched downward, its hands open skyward.

The upper two crossed resting over its chest…

The pale white skin of his body was marked with red and black symbols…

Red hair swung around from a pale white face gazing at the sky…

Tears dripped from its stone eyes…

Its black, spike-covered crown shone slightly in spirals…

Clouds, dissolved from stones, streamed through its body and sanctum…

The eyes of his father trembled in pain. Before collapsing, he planted the sword before himself, and leaned against it.

The chain glowed yellow from its intense heat. Its glow enlightened the brain and veins though his head. Steam hissed from the chains. Slowly by slowly, it burned his inner and outer organs.

Through his chest bursted a chain, enlightening its heart.

Rains of chains pierced his entire body. Blood streamed from every hole, through the chains, down the stairs. His eyes stilled. His dead body leaned against the sword.
