Chapter 3 - Everything begins with a Fall

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the tranquil meadow, a young girl burst out of a rickety wooden shack, her long hair streaming behind her like a banner. "Dipper! Dipper where are you?" she called out, her voice filled with urgency. Her purple ruffled skirt swayed with each step she took, the fabric rippling like gentle waves as she moved.

A pink headband kept her loose curls away from her face, and Star-shaped earrings dangled from her ears, catching the sunlight and shimmering like distant galaxies. Her pink sweater adorned with a small shooting star patch that has been hand sewn.

Her twin brother emerged from the wooden shack. "I'm right here Mabel." He says, a small smile playing on his lips, "You ready to go?" he asks as he approaches his sister. "Definitely! Let's go!" Mabel says as she drags hm along with her, he stumbles for a moment trying to keep up with his twin sister.

As the twin brother and sister happily strolled down the dirt road, the sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting a warm glow on their faces. They chattered excitedly about the adventures they would have today, their laughter blending with the rustling of the leaves and the chirping of the birds.

The dirt road wound its way through a small forest, with tall trees standing sentinel on either side. The siblings skipped over exposed roots and small rocks, their sneakers crunching softly on the dirt path.

Small woodland creatures peeked out from behind bushes, curious eyes watching the two children. Deer, butterflies, and… Gnomes?

As they emerged from the forest, the small town came into view. Colorful buildings lined the streets, with cheerful flower boxes adorning windowsills. The gentle chatter of activity filled the air, as townsfolk went about their daily routines. The twins happily walked through town, passing several buildings from cafes to radio stations.

However, the peaceful atmosphere was disrupted when a loud commotion erupted in front of the general store. A young girl stumbled out of the store; her eyes filled with worry and slight anger. The townsfolk stopped in their tracks; their curiosity piqued as they watched the scene unfold. Mabel and Dipper turned to watch what was happening

The store owner, a stern-looking man with a scowl on his face, stood in the doorway, his arms crossed. "I told you to leave, girl, you're not welcome here!" he bellowed, his voice echoing down the street.

"Oh, come on!" The girl says opening her arms to the man, in a kind gesture. "I barrowed one thing and you're kicking me out forever?!" She exclaims as she crosses her arms over her chest. Mimicking the man's pose.

"Little girl, you did not barrow anything!" He shouts. "You stole, not only an ancient artifact and lose it, but you also stole my trust." The stern man says walking back into the building. "Good day!" The man exclaims angerly and closing the door shut with a slam.

The girl huffed in anger, upset she couldn't ever return to the store. "You'd never believe the truth if I told you." She mutters to herself under her breath as she gets up, brushing herself off and glancing around at the townsfolk that are still staring.

"All good here everyone! Carry on!" She shouts to the townspeople, her heart sinking into her stomach out of embarrassment. Yet she holds her confident deminer. The townspeople begin turning away, walking down the street with occasional whispering. "Ugh, come on Y/n… Get a grip." She mumbles to herself, scratching the back of her neck.
