Chapter 11 - The Real Winner

Despite his excitement, Demiurge's rationality prevailed, and just as he was about to refuse, he heard a majestic voice ring out beside him.

"Do not say that only praise is enough. It is only natural to accept a reward for work diligently completed. I do not wish to become a ruler who disregards the efforts of his subordinates."

Flying Squirrel's words were serious and powerful, with no hint of jest.

Demiurge suppressed the urge to wag his tail and lowered his head again, "Thank you, Flying Squirrel-sama, for your consideration."

Flying Squirrel looked at Albedo, and her calm voice came, "May I ask what kind of reward Flying Squirrel-sama has in mind? If it is not specified, may we choose freely?"

Hearing her words, Demiurge frowned slightly, his expression becoming very complex.

Flying Squirrel spoke up, "My apologies, Sig and I have taken the liberty of deciding the reward's content. If you are not satisfied with this reward, a change is permitted."

"My apologies, I had no such thought," Albedo quickly said, her eyes flicking to the side before swiftly pulling them back, afraid of being discovered.

Sig naturally noticed Albedo's gaze, but when such a beautiful woman showed a timid expression in front of him, no one would have the heart to be overly harsh.

"Chairman, can you announce the answer now?"

"Yes… yes, indeed, I shouldn't keep you in suspense."

A gentle smile suddenly appeared on that face, and Flying Squirrel felt his heart tremble. He finally understood that being too handsome could also be very troublesome.

After regaining his composure, he took out two rings, which were, of course, Anz Ul-Gown Rings.

"Commander Demiurge and Guardian Overseer Albedo, both of you should need this item."

The two looked at each other again and shouted in unison, "Thank you very much!"

For the sake of ceremony, Sig took the rings from Flying Squirrel's hand and then presented them to the two separately.

The rings immediately changed size when slipped onto their fingers, becoming the perfect fit for their respective finger thicknesses.

Demiurge finally couldn't help but subtly wag his spiky tail, trying his best to make his actions appear elegant and natural.

Albedo, this time, controlled herself very well. Even though her wings trembled, they did not adorably flutter, though the smile at the corner of her mouth was almost overflowing.

Ever since everyone could call him Sig-sama, she had held quite a bit of resentment in her heart, and only now did a wave of superiority surge within her.

Besides Demiurge, only she had received a ring personally presented by Sig-sama!

"By the way, why did Sig-sama transform into a human form?" Demiurge asked, puzzled.

This question had bothered him since he entered the room, and now that things had settled, he finally asked it.

This question disrupted Flying Squirrel's expectations. He had planned to discuss exploring the village after granting the rings, but it had unexpectedly jumped directly to this topic.

"Sig, you explain it."

My apologies, Sig-san, for pushing the problem to you. Please don't resent me for this!

Sig's eyes signaled Flying Squirrel to rest assured. His blue eyes gave off an extremely calm feeling, as deep as the ocean, and his hair was a mysterious pure black.

Flying Squirrel covered his face. This world was truly unfair. He deeply regretted not buying a race-changing item together.

"Because we need to go to a human village to gather information, I made some special preparations."

The two strategists of Nazarick knelt down in unison. With servants like them present, how could they trouble the Supreme Beings to condescend to do such a thing?

But since it had already been decided, it meant that the two had already discussed it, and it would be too tactless for them to object now.

Albedo's beautiful eyes flickered, and she said eagerly, "If that is the case, please allow me to accompany you as a guard. If we encounter an attack from an unknown enemy, I, specialized in defense, am most suitable to be used as a shield."

"Precisely so, please reconsider," Demiurge chimed in.

"Then there would be no one responsible for vigilance in Nazarick, and someone also needs to be in charge of command. If there is danger, I can quickly evacuate one person. If there is one more person, I cannot guarantee it. I do not want you to make unnecessary sacrifices."

Sig had anticipated this conversation and, of course, had already thought of reasons for refusal.

To be honest, there was no need to refuse Albedo's accompaniment, because they wouldn't encounter strong enemies this time, and one more or one less person didn't matter. However, he intended to take Flying Squirrel out to relax, and it was still more suitable for just the two of them.

Furthermore, most people in the Great Tomb disliked humans, though there were some who liked them, such as as food, or as objects to toy with. Only tragically deceased humans would bring everyone physical and mental comfort.

It was certain that Albedo would be uncomfortable if she went along, and he could not torment his subordinate for his own selfish reasons.

Albedo pursed her lips and said nothing, nodding to indicate understanding.

Seeing this, Flying Squirrel ordered, "Raise Nazarick's alert to a state where it can respond to external enemies at any time. Considering the possibility of unexpected situations, you can dispatch some subordinates skilled in concealment to infiltrate the village. Sig, your kin should remain in the surrounding forest, they can also serve as a backup."

"Understood!"

"Hmm, Chairman's consideration is indeed comprehensive," Sig said sincerely.

Even a small dragon would not be easy to hide in a village, unlike those invisible subordinates. Even if their appearance was striking, those without detection skills would not be discovered.

Flying Squirrel felt a little embarrassed by the praise. Although he often heard even more excessive words from the Guardians, he knew it was due to their loyalty, and he was not such a great person himself.

Having Sig, his companion, praise him like this, indeed gave him considerable confidence, and he suddenly felt capable again.

"I will prepare the items I need to equip first."

His human form's attributes were the weakest, but in contrast, the amount of equipment he could wear increased. Fully equipped, he was only slightly weaker than his half-human form. The advantage was that he was more versatile, balanced in offense and defense, and could use all skills.

Flying Squirrel nodded in agreement. This was only natural. "Let's depart in fifteen minutes."

As Demiurge walked out the door, he was met with Sig's half-smile, and his heart skipped a beat.

He was the last to leave, Albedo was the second, and there were still fifteen minutes until departure. What could have made Sig-sama squeeze out precious time to wait for him here?

"Sig-sama, do you have any other instructions?"

"Nothing much, I just want to confirm something." Sig bent down and pointed to the ring on his finger, "How is it, are you happy to receive the ring?"

Demiurge suddenly understood. So, this was Sig-sama's doing.

He bowed, like an elegant young nobleman, and a smile that could be called gentle appeared on the demon's face, "You went to great lengths."

"It's nothing," Sig nodded with satisfaction, then turned and left a message, "But don't tell Sebas about this. Just say that Flying Squirrel Chairman gave it to you."

Demiurge watched Sig leave, wagging his tail, until he could no longer see his back, then he showed a helpless expression, "It seems Sig-sama saw through me long ago."
