Chapter 5 - Chapter 4

[Yeloo, I'm coming to get you, hope you told your mom]

Lyrah got that text from him, she'd already been waiting 15 minutes … Terrance's house was a 5 minute drive away.

"You're still waiting, Ly?" Mrs. Kiran asked, walking out to see her daughter.

"Yeah Mom, you know how Terrance is, he's always late. I'm sure he'll come soon enough."

"If you say so, dear. Remember our deal, you're back before 6, then you start studying. You need to raise your average from last term, you're grade 11, it's a very important year."

Lyrah sighed, "yes Mom, how could I forget? It's not like you tell me that every single day," she ended sarcastically.

"You might be annoyed by that now," her mother said, walking away, "but when you're older, you'll know what I mean."

Lyrah was now left alone with just her thoughts. Her previous average was 89, 89% in grade 11. It was the highest in the grade. Lyrah could not see why she had to keep pushing to get good marks, at the end of the day, she wasn't going to need full A+'s to get a job. Yes, better qualifications mean better job offers, but does that really matter if you are just miserable?

—-

89% is one of the best averages I've heard in a while.

Lyrah sighed once again, 'I'm way too tired for this. I promise I'm going to kill Eran one of these days.'

'I guess I'll water the plants while I wait, he better not come now as I decide to do something productive, or i will crash out.'

'Okay… I watered the lemon and orange tress, just the peach and strawberry-'

Terrance sped down the street, stopping gracefully at Lyrah's gate. He removed his helmet, looking at Lyrah with a big smile,"Ayy, Ly!"

Lyrah smiled and put the hose down.

"Hi Terrance," she walked towards him and slapped him.

"OWW! What the hell?!"

"I'm sick and tired of you being late every single time. Next time, I'll just cancel on you."

"Ok, ok I'm sorry, I won't be late again."

"We'll see if you can keep promises, Lyrah said putting her helmet on.

They then sped off in the direction of the café. Terrance ahead by a little less than centimeter.

—-

N-not that it mattered that he was ahead or anything. (^_^;)

I mean, maybe it did, but that's not the main part of this, ok?

Yea, ok.

—-

"Imagine there are cops right there."

"Lyrah. … What will you do if you just jinxed us right now."

"I guess we'll never know," Lyrah smirked. They parked behind the café, Terrance pulling out a few cans.

"I've bought a lot more since last time, my collection is growing!"

"This is the only kind of collection that I can get behind."

Lyrah took the dark blue can, spraying a flower onto the wall with surgical precision, every line connecting with the last.

"Wow, Lyrah. We're doing something that could possible get us arrested and your first idea of things to paint is a damn flower."

"Well, nothing beats a nice flower, and this is, infact, a nice flower."

"And you can't talk right now, you haven't done a single thing," Lyrah said looking disappointed as she saw Terrance was still looking for a colour to use.

"I'll paint, I'll paint. I'm going to paint some actually cool stuff."

"Yeah, like your initials are cool and definitely won't make it easier for people to get us caught if they ever decide to."

"Of course Lyrah Darren Kiran, I'm the only one in this town with the initials, TPM. There's no way in hell they'd be able to figure out it was me just based on my initials, I mean, they'd first have to figure out that it is my initials."

"Yea, yea, whatever Mr. Detective."

"What?! Thats not me playing detective, thats just common sense! Don't act like I'm being a smart-ass Lyrah, I'm not."

Lyrah didn't reply to that. She didn't have to, she just laughed at how serious Terrance looked and continued with what she was doing. That was how it always was, she always responded like that.

Why? Neither Terrance nor I knew.

That might of been a lie, of course I know, why wouldn't I know?

However, Terrance doesn't know, and so, you don't know too.

I'm sorry, but that's just how it works.
