Chapter 36 - Chapter 36 Mukotsu

(To (Y/N))

I watched the masked man, who was sitting on the ground, pouring and mixing things into a bowl. "This guy might be trouble..." I think, hiding myself in the shadow of a tree.

"There we go. Just like Mother used to make." The masked man insists, crushing stuff in the bowl.

"Huh?" The masked man sounds.

"Why, hello, Jakotsu! It's been a long time!" The masked man beamed, causing Jakotsu to place his foot on the masked man.

"Hello yourself. So, Mukotsu, you tried to do me in with your poison, too, huh?" Jakotsu asks as he bends down to Mukotsu, who chuckles. "So, this Mukotsu guy is a Poison Master, it sounds like." I think, as I get a bad feeling.

"Don't be angry. I knew you could handle yourself." Mukotsu answers Jakotsu, who lets out a scoff.

"So, tell me about the others." Mukotsu requests Jakotsu as he stands.

"Well, Renkotsu is busy taking care of Ginkotsu," Jakotsu informs.

"What happened to Ginkotsu?" Mukotsu asks Jakotsu as he stirs the stuff around in his bowl.

"He's... You know. He needs all these new guns and gunpowder." Jakotsu answers, causing Mukotsu to laugh.

"And I suppose he needs to oil them well... Correct?" Mukotsu questions. "They must be talking about the other members of their Band that Kohaku's probably keeping an eye on." I think, but then a buzzing sound causes both him and Jakotsu to look up to see the Poisonous insects.

"Hey, what's all this about?" Jakotsu asks, but then the insect flies away, and he smiles. "Oh no..." I think, quickly hiding behind the tree to not be spotted by Naraku's damn bugs.

"I see. Inuyasha's coming after me all alone!" Jakotsu chirps, making Mukotsu chuckle.

"So, that means the others are all by themselves, and this Kagome girl possesses Sacred Jewel Shards," Mukotsu states, making Jakotsu look over at him. "Shit, Kagome and the others are going to be in danger." I think as my eyes widen.

"They're all yours, Mukotsu." Jakotsu declares, making Makotsu's eyes widen.

"Well, then, I'll take the Sacred Jewel Shards." Mukotsu points out.

"And I'll keep Inuyasha all for myself." Jakotsu insinuates, causing Mukotsu to turn back to his potion.

"He is of no concern to me." Mukotsu made known as a chill runs up my spine, while peering back to see him with a malicious expression.

"What about Kagome?" Mukotsu's questions are causing my stomach to drop.

"All yours. Enjoy." Jakotsu responds as he walks away. "No, no way in hell." I think as I clench my fists.

"I will." Mukotsu chuckles as he pours the liquid in the bowl into a container. "I won't let you touch my cousin!" I think, but then a burning feeling from my wrists pulls me out of my anger. Quickly, I jump up into the nearby tree, letting out a slight sigh.

"I'd better get back to Kohaku..." I trail off as I make my way through the trees.

(To Renkotsu)

He walks into a temple, drawing the monks' attention.

"You have business at this Shrine, young man?" The Monk asks as he walks over to Renkotsu.

"Yes. This will do rather nicely." Renkotsu answers as he looks around.

"What?" The Monk asks with a concerned expression.

"This shrine will do nicely for the Band of Seven," Renkotsu answers the Monk, who steps back.

"Are you saying that you're one of the Band of Seven?!" The monk exclaims, causing Renkotsu to look at him.

"That outfit of yours will do quite nicely as well," Renkotsu smirks at the Monk, making him flee, but Renkotsu rushes after him.

(To Kagome)

"Hey Kagome, look! It's a well!" Shippo chirps as both Kagome and Shippo were riding on her bike.

"Good. We could use some water." Kagome insists as they ride over to it, only to see a woman unconscious.

"There's someone on the ground." Shippo points out, causing Kagome to set her bike down.

"Oh, no!" Kagome sounds as she rushes over to the lady.

"Hey, are you all right?" Kagome asks, but then gasps.

"She's dead." Kagome whimpers as she notices the fog getting worse, and she looks around to see multiple people on the ground.

"What's this?" Kagome questions.

"Are they all dead? Kagome, I think we'd better get away from here." Shippo responds, making Kagome nod as she begins to back up, but a sinister laugh rings out.

"Poisonous Gas!" Kagome calls out as black smoke rushes towards her and Shippo, they both cover their nose and mouths with their hands.

"You cannot escape from Mukotsu's poison," Mukotsu informs Kagome, who trembles while falling to her knees.

"Kagome, please hang in there." Shippo pleads as Mukotsu begins to chuckle once again.

"So, Kagome, you're the one who has the Sacred Jewel Shards, correct?" Mukotsu asks, but she was unable to answer.

"Kagome! Kagome!" Shippo cries out with a worried expression.

"Please, Shippo, run away." Kagome pleads, but Shippo shakes his head.

"No, I won't!" Shippo proclaims as Mukotsu makes his way towards them.

"Don't be afraid. I don't intend to kill you. No, my pretty. This is my special Toxin, which will paralyze your body... But your mind will remain quite alert. It has no effect on Demons, though." Mukotsu informs, causing Shippo to get in front of Kagome.

"You leave Kagome alone!" Shippo demands as he grabs his spinning top out of his kimono.

"Fox Magic: Smashing Top!" Shippo shouts as his top multiplies in size and lands on Mukotsu's head.

"How'd you like that?!" Shippo exclaims, but Mukotsu lifts his mask as green smoke sprays towards Shippo, who falls to the ground holding his throat.

"Shippo!" Kagome calls out as Mukotsu chuckles, kicking Shippo out of the way. Turning, Mukotsu heads towards Kagome, but jumps back as Hiraikotsu is about to hit him. However, a bottle he held out broke on purpose.

"Miroku, stay back," Songo instructs as she wears her poison-shielding mask, while Miroku puts his sleeve to his face.

"It's poison. So, he's the one behind the gas." Miroku notes, causing Mukotsu to laugh.

"I know. I'll get Inuyasha." Shippo insists as he begins running away.

"You must be one of the Band of Seven." Miroku points out, making Mukotsu laugh louder.

"Yes! I'm Mukotsu, Poison Master." Mukotsu greets.

"So, tell me, Poison Master, someone must have resurrected you and sent you after us. Is Naraku behind all this?" Miroku questions Mukotsu, who puts his hand to his head while chuckling.

"Couldn't tell you. You'll have to ask the Captain... Should you survive, that is." Mukotsu responds as he grabs another jug from his bag. Quickly, opening the jug, Songo gets in front of Miroku with her Hiraikotsu to block the thick black gas.

"That should do the trick." Mukotsu remarks.

"Sango, Miroku..." Kagome trails off with a worried expression as the gas dissipates, but there's nothing there.

"Oh, no," Kagome says.

"Now then, Kagome. The intruders are gone. It's just you and me now." Mukotsu muses.

(To (Y/N) )

"Kohaku!" I call out to Kohaku, who was up in the tree in front of me, turn and look at me.

"What of those two?" Kohaku asks as I sit down on the branch next to him.

"Jakotsu's after Inuyasha and Mukotsu's handling the rest of them," I answer as I watch the miasma disappear from my arm and let out a sigh. "I need to hurry up and go help Kagome and the others." I think, as I look over to see a Temple.

"Wait, this is..." I trail off, causing Kohaku to narrow his eyes at me.

"You've been here?" Kohaku questions, and I nod.

"I've never been inside, but I've passed by this Temple before. Is there some significance behind this Temple?" I ask, but Kohaku shakes his head.

"Renkotsu has set up residence there," Kohaku answers me as I stand with an annoyed expression. "You really know how to choose 'em, don't you, Naraku?" I wonder as I jump down from the tree.

"I'll be back at my post if you need me!" I call out, but don't dare turn back to face Kohaku as I begin making my way back through the forest. "More like going to kill a nuisance..." I think as I ball my hands into fists.

(To Inuyasha)

He was rushing through the forest when he suddenly came to Jakotsu, who was waving his Kimono open.

"Hey, Inuyasha." Jakotsu greets.

"What the heck are you doing?!" Inuyasha exclaims.

"It's my scent you're tracking, is it not? Well, I thought I'd make it just a little easier for you." Jakotsu teases as he continues to flap his Kimono making Inuyasha draw his sword.

"Say good-bye." Inuyasha insists as he points his sword towards Jakotsu.

(To (Y/N) )

"Damn it!" I curse as I see a building, but it's covered in a barrier made of poison. "I don't know if my spiritual Powers will be able to break through this type of barrier." I think as I stare at the building, while holding onto my sword. Suddenly, buzzing rings out, making me immediately take cover as I see a few of Naraku's poisonous insects fly by.

"They're patrolling the building..." I trail off with an annoyed expression, but then a roar rings out, and I see Kirara with Miroku and Songo riding on her. "I hope they'll fair well against Mukotsu, but I still have a bad feeling about this." I think as I see Kirara break into the top of the hut.

(To Songo)

"Kagome!" Songo calls out as she and Miroku jump off Kirara, making Mukotsu jump up.

"Kagome!" Miroku bellows as he sees her on the ground with a white cloth over her head.

"How dare you interrupt my Ceremony?!" Mukotsu exclaims as he grabs a container and tears off the lid, causing a black gas rush towards Songo and Miroku.

"Leave him to me." Songo insists as she rushes forward with her Hiraikotsu in front of her and her sword drawn. However, Mukotsu begins to chuckle as Songo's eyes widen.

"That little mask of yours won't work. This poison enters through the eyes and skin." Mukotsu informs as Songo falls to the floor, while Miroku holds his hand to his face.

"Songo!" Miroku shouts, but then falls backwards, causing Kirara to jump towards him. However, Mukotsu spits green poison at Kirara, making her detransform, falling back, and rolls around.

(To (Y/N) )

"Something's wrong... They're taking too long in there." I insist, putting on a worried expression, then shake my head. "It's freaking gas! I mean, shouldn't there be some weak point?!" I exclaim as I jump down and make my way to the back of the building, only to see that it was clear of gas. I go to make my way towards the building, but stop as I hear an unfamiliar scream.

"Who-" I was interrupted, as I saw Mukotsu fleeing from the hut, making me put on a confused expression.

"You felt the pain of my Toxic Claws and yet you're still able to run?" A voice I knew all too well sounds out as I quickly take to the shadows as Mukotsu chuckles. Slowly peeking out, I see Sesshomaru standing in front of Mukotsu, who has two giant jugs in both hands.

"Take this!" Mukotsu shouts as two types of gases rush towards Sesshomaru and engulf him. "I doubt that's going to do much good against Sesshomaru... I wonder why he's here?" I wonder as Mukotsu continues to chuckle.

"Taste my poison!" Mukotsu demands, but his frown turns completely upside down as he sees Sesshomaru still standing and heading straight towards him.

"Wait! Please, wait!" Mukotsu pleads as he falls to the ground, while Sesshomaru still walks towards him.

"I'm sorry! I was too hasty! Please spare me! Don't kill me!" Mukotsu pleads as he turns and trembles in the bushes a couple of feet in front of me. "This guy is as good as dead... So, I probably shouldn't hang around here anymore." I think, but then Sesshomaru stops in his tracks, making my eyes widen.

"To show you my sincerity... Here's a little present." Mukotsu remarks as he pulls out a giant jug from the bushes, a red gas engulfs Sesshomaru, causing me to sigh.

"What a moron..." I trail off as I hear Mukotsu laugh.

"Good-bye, my friend. This poison even kills Demons like you." Mukotsu informs as it begins to dissipate, but it still didn't affect Sesshomaru.

"It's not working. Yet it's my very finest Poison!" Mukotsu bellows, but then in a flash of light, Mukotsu's body disintegrates. "Yep, figured that was gonna happen." I think as I look over to see Sesshomaru sheathe his sword.

"Your primitive concoctions are no match for my superior powers," Sesshomaru states, but he turns to the tree I was standing behind. Immediately, I shrink back only for my foot to snap a twig in the process.

"Come out," Sesshomaru instructs me, but I stiffen up as I hear his footsteps drawing closer. "No, I can't face him. Not after everything that happened last time..." I think, beginning to panic.

"Kagome!" Inuyasha's voice rings out, causing me to jump up into a distant tree.

"Thank goodness for Inuyasha's timing." I sigh as I glance back to see Sesshomaru looking over at Inuyasha with a distasteful expression. "The Poisonous Insect should be able to retrieve the Shard, so I should get out of here before Sesshomaru hunts me down." I think as I make my way through the trees.

(To Rin)

(3rd POV)

"Lord Sesshomaru is sure late. Now I wish I had gone with him." Rin points out as she was sitting on a log, kicking her feet.

"Nonsense! There were definitely signs of poison where Lord Sesshomaru was going. If you had gone with him, you'd be pushing up daisies for sure." Jaken made known as Rin sighs.

"I guess you're right," Rin says, while looking over to see Kohaku walking into a slight clearing several feet away. Lifting his arm, Kohaku was given a Shard of the Sacred Jewel by a Poisonous Insect. However, she then sees (Y/N) jump down to him with a slight smile, causing Rin's eyes to widen.

"What is it, Rin?" Jaken asks Rin, who turns to him.

"Huh? Oh, it's nothing." Rin answers as she looks back, only to see that both of them were gone, but she stares for a moment with a thoughtful expression.

(To Renkotsu)

"I see. First Kyokotsu and now Mukotsu." Renkotsu states as he was wearing one of the Monk outfits.

"Yep." Jakotsu declares.

So, what can you tell me about Mukotsu's killer?" Renkotsu asks, causing Jakotsu to put his finger to his cheek with a confused expression.

"He had cold, expressionless eyes. Quite manly, I suppose you could say. But, I guess if it came down to it, I'd still have to choose Inuyasha." Jakotsu answers.

"I believe we're losing focus, Jakotsu." Renkotsu points out.

"But, Renkotsu, there still seems to be many things we haven't been told." Jakotsu made known, making Renkotsu's eyes widen slightly.

"Hmm?" Renkotsu sounds.

"Take, for instance, this Naraku person who revived the 7 of us. Who is he exactly?" Jakotsu questions Renkotsu, who shuts his eyes.

"Naraku?" Renkotsu asks.

"Brother, have you ever met him?" Jakotsu questions Renkotsu once more as he opens his eyes and looks away.

"No, only big brother has met Naraku. Naraku handed him the shards of the Sacred Jewel. Naraku told him that if we got rid of all who sought Naraku, the Shards would become ours." Renkotsu responds.

"What an agreement. Two of the Band of Seven are already dead. So, from 7, that leaves only 4." Jakotsu made known.

"7 minus 2 is 5." Renkotsu points out, causing Jakotsu to begin counting with his fingers.

"But, Jakotsu, you said that Inuyasha's friends were exposed to Mukotsu's poison." Renkotsu adds.

"Yes. Mukotsu's poison is very persistent. By nightfall, they'll probably all be dead." Jakotsu specifies, making my eyes widen. "Dead..." I think as I stand up on the roof of the Shrine, where I'd been listening from.

"Damn it..." I whisper I jump off the roof with a determined expression. "I won't let that happen!" I think as I rush back towards Mukotsu's hut.

"He must've had an antidote made, even if he wasn't affected by the poison, he had to!" I bellow as I make it back to the hut and begin ransacking it.

(To Jakotsu)

Renkotsu was laughing maliciously as he stared off into the distance.

"This gets even more interesting. As it turns out, our brother Ginkotsu is headed their way as we speak. Ginkotsu... More than a match for ay Demon." Renkotsu insisted as Jakotsu stared at him.

(To (Y/N) )

Finally finding what appears to be an antidote, I race out of the hut and head straight for Inuyasha and the others. "Please let me make it." I plead as someone comes into view, making me stop in my tracks.

"I knew I caught a whiff of your scent, (Y/N)." A voice I knew all too well insisted as I stared back into his yellow eyes. "I figured I'd meet someone from the group, but did it really have to be him?" I wonder as I let out a sigh.

"Inuyasha... Catch!" I bellow as I throw the antidote towards him, causing him to catch it.

"What is this?" Inuyasha asks me, but I turn away from him.

"The Antidote, give it to them," I answer as I start to walk away.

"Wait!" Inuyasha calls out, making me stop and look back at him.

"Where's Naraku, (Y/N)? I know you know!" Inuyasha proclaims, but I turn back to the front.

"You should be more worried about Kagome and the others, Dog-Boy," I state as I jump up into the tree, feeling a burning in my wrist. "I'd better find Kohaku..." I think while making my way through the tree tops.

(To Inuyasha)

Shippo and Inuyasha were staring down at Kirara, Songo, Miroku, and Kagome as they were all unconscious.

"Well, we gave them the Antidote, but now they need rest- and lots of it." Shippo points out turning to Inuyasha.

"You're right. We should really find a safer place for them." Inuyasha agrees with an anxious expression.

(To Jakotsu)

"It's not fair, Renkotsu. I told you before, Inuyasha is mine." Jakotsu fumed, glaring at Renkotsu.

"That's enough, Jakotsu. Plans have changed somewhat. I have another mission prepared for you." Renkotsu addresses, but Jakotsu began to throw a fit.

"It's not fair, it's not fair, it's not fair, it's not fair!" Jakotsu barked, causing Renkotsu to glare over at him.

"I said that's enough, Jakotsu." Renkotsu reprimands.

"But, Renkotsu, Inuyasha is-"

"Quit whining, Jakotsu, and listen carefully to what I would have you do." Renkotsu insists as he interrupts Jakotsu, who lets out a groan, but then sighs.

"Then, if you hurry right back, you may make it in time for Inuyasha's death," Renkotsu informs with a smirk.
