Training with the Kings felt like stepping into four different storms at once.

It's been a week since Elara ran off with the artifact and there's been no trace if her.

The Alpha had promised to reprimand her when she's located.

I went back to my normal life, well normalish.

We were in the academy's lower courtyard—wide stone circle, high walls etched with protective runes, the kind of place where mistakes could be contained. Or so they said. The air smelled of rain-soaked earth and ozone, like the sky was waiting for permission to open up.

Kieran went first.

He stood in the center of the circle, arms loose, grin sharp and dangerous.

"Glamour," he said, voice carrying that lazy, mocking edge he used when he was trying not to show how badly he wanted to impress me. "Fae magic. Illusion. Deception. You can't use it, Sinclair. You're not fae. No amount of goddess juice is changing that."

I crossed my arms.
