Chapter 29 - Chapter 29The unasked Guest

Marcus was the image of strength, a stalwart, just like a solid wall that Lily could calculate on. Accordingly, they were suitable to maintain the facade of their diurnal routine for two days, which was, in a way, both a silent kick and a prayer. They were, still, not yet mixed with the capital that was fuming and murmuring each over the room, involuntary spectators of the hoot that could indeed be seen in Marcus's quick ganders around the room and the way he broke after letting go of her hand.

Lily, for her part, decided that she'd not let her uneasiness micromanage her and so she threw herself into planning the renewal of their pledge. In other words, the choice of kerchief crowds and flowery arrangements turned out to be her escape route, a way of creating beauty while what sounded to be a shadow from the history was getting in their way of life.

They went to the harbor with Anya who's the head gardener at the Harper estate. Anya, a woman without a mistrustfulness and with the most dirt on her hands, would tell them exactly what was wrong in the most honest way. Through the old oaks, the sun was coming, and it was making awful golden patterns on the pasturage.

" The peonies will also thrive coming to the monument path," Anya said, pointing with her trowel." They're bright and full of life, not like those fussy little orchids that everyone seems to like." Lily's face lit up, a surge of genuine tranquility snapping through her for the first time since the dispatch." Absolutely," she said, taking the moment in.

A many bases down, Marcus was on his phone. still, his serenity enabled her to hold on. He was a member of the debate, told by his mood a many times, and when his serious features met hers, they came lighter.

After Anya's walkie- documentary emitted an abrupt and a loud noise, she said," A delivery for Mr. Harper has just arrived at the frontal gate. They are pointing at a hand,"

With a slight arc of his head, Marcus indicated that he was out of the circle." Well, I can guarantee that I was n't awaiting it,"

Onya asked," Are we awaiting them to drop it off at the gate? "

He answered in the negative," I'll be going to pick it up. I'll be back in a many twinkles," and also he put his phone down and left. Without detention to the main drive, he was out with his short call to her tabernacle and his kiss.

still, Lily and Anya were still occupied in a vigorous discussion about which of the two unfolding vines, rovers or clematis, was more. Around ten twinkles latterly, Lily's phone bucketed from a textbook by Marcus.

** Help with Anya. Do not come then. **

In a moment, her peacefulness was shattered to pieces. A cold and sharp dagger sounded to perforation her stomach. Anya was boasting an ancient rose with pride, but Lily could n't concentrate, and the palpitating in her head was getting too loud to let any other sounds through.

" Lily? What's the matter with you? You look veritably bad," Anya blatted as she held back her fear.

" perhaps I need a break," Lily grunted with countenance," It must be the sun."

Her brain was droning and she nearly collapsed on a monument bench hard. What could be at the gate? A letter from the coming world? Or a man?? maybe, my father? The scripts were turning in circles in her mind, bleak and hustling.

She spotted Marcus coming back with a long face, he looked worried as if carrying a heavy cargo. She could perceive the hurricane inside his eyes and see the way he was holding a small, flat box made of rough brown paper veritably tightly.

After Anya was thanked and given a brief nod, her offer was declined. Marcus's face was different, however, when they were out of sight- rather of his usual countenance, his face looked heavy and sad.

" What's it?,"

She got an orphan and a mise- en- scene lower than distinguished parcel, which was supposedly hand- delivered and so normal that it was hard to discern its origin.

Lily, with pulsing hands, started to open it. The contents were too light. She looked to Marcus for evidence. He answered with a veritably short and strong nod.

When the lid came off the vessel, her stomach moved down too. It was a cheap empty piece of plastic – a bridegroom and a bachelor from a marriage galette. The bachelor was ripped into pieces while the bridegroom's face had a deep and unattractive X as if someone designedly defaced it.

On the inside of the box, there was a note taped across the reverse of the lid with a small hand- drawn dividing pronounced

** Some presents are too perfect to be true. **

Lily was gagged and terror took over her. It was one step beyond simply transferring it was a profanation. They were someone's victims who had broken in and left.
