The Kingdom of Aetherion
At the heart of the human realm stands the Kingdom of Aetherion, the most powerful and prosperous domain of mankind. It is a vast land of contrasts — from frozen mountains to fertile plains, from roaring coasts to fiery forges. United beneath a single crown, Aetherion's strength lies not only in its throne but in the four great Duchies that form its foundation. Each duchy is unique, yet together they embody the lifeblood of the kingdom.
The Northern Dukedom – Duchy of Wyrmfrost
Carved into the icy peaks of the northern mountains, Wyrmfrost is a land of eternal winter. Its people are forged in hardship, their blades tempered as much by frost as by fire. This duchy is famed for its formidable militia — warriors who grow up battling wyverns, drakes, and even the shadows of dragons. The Archduke of Wyrmfrost commands not just soldiers but legends in flesh, and their armies are considered the steel backbone of Aetherion's defenses. Though barren in crops and wealth, Wyrmfrost's true treasure is its unmatched martial might.
The Southern Dukedom – Duchy of Dawnmere
Dawnmere is the beating heart of Aetherion's prosperity, a land blessed with fertile plains and warm sunlight. Golden fields stretch as far as the eye can see, dotted with villages that supply grain, fruit, and livestock to every corner of the kingdom. Its farmers are as respected as knights, for without Dawnmere's bounty, no army could march and no court could feast. The southern duchy is not famed for its soldiers or riches, but for something far greater: it sustains the entire kingdom. Dawnmere is known as "the cradle of Aetherion's people."
The Eastern Dukedom – Duchy of Stormholme
Facing the vast ocean, Stormholme thrives where land meets sea. Its harbors are forever alive with sails, trade caravans, and foreign merchants. Wealth flows through its ports like blood through veins, making it the richest duchy after the royal crown itself. Exotic spices, rare silks, and foreign steel pass through Stormholme's docks, filling its coffers and strengthening Aetherion's ties with distant realms. The Archduke of Stormholme is whispered to be the wealthiest man in the kingdom, rivaled only by the Emperor, and his influence reaches far beyond the tides.
The Western Dukedom – Duchy of Emberfal
Born from fire and stone, Emberfal lies in the shadow of smoldering volcanoes and deep within the mouths of mines. It is a land of smiths and craftsmen, where the clang of the forge is a song sung daily. Emberfal produces most of Aetherion's weapons and armor — from the swords of common soldiers to the enchanted plate of knights and royalty. Though not as wealthy as Stormholme nor as mighty as Wyrmfrost, Emberfal's strength is carved into every blade that defends the kingdom. Without Emberfal's forges, Aetherion would be vulnerable, naked before its enemies. It is said that "to hold an Emberfal steel is to carry a fragment of the mountains themselves."
