Chapter 98 - [98] Pakura is a bad Spy

Killer Bee stood near the frozen ridgeline bordering the Land of Frost, his posture loose and casual as if the biting cold meant nothing to him. He stretched his arms, cracked his neck, and let out a low laugh before breaking into his usual rhythm.

"Wee—yo," Killer Bee said with an easy grin, turning his head toward the young woman standing a short distance away. "Hey, young lady, tell me straight, how's the Two-Tails responding to the groove?"

Yugito Nii cringed at his antics, clearly still unaccustomed to Bee's strange cadence and even stranger teaching style. She folded her arms, eyes narrowing slightly as she searched for the right words, because what she was experiencing did not match anything she had been taught in the academy.

"I honestly don't know," Yugito Nii replied after a moment, her voice carrying both confusion and unease. "Before all this, I didn't even realize there was a monster inside me. I only felt pain, exhaustion, and fear whenever my chakra ran low."

She paused, then continued more slowly. "But after Benihime-sama placed that new seal on me, something changed. Now, I can feel another presence pushing back, feeding chakra slowly into my system. It feels I can never run out of chakra."

Killer Bee's grin widened, clearly pleased by her words, and he snapped his fingers.

"That ain't no monster," Bee said confidently, his voice full of conviction. "That's a partner, a rhythm waiting to sync, a friend you haven't learned to vibe with yet."

Before Yugito could respond, Killer Bee let his chakra flare smoothly. His form shifted in an instant, bones reshaping and chakra molding into flesh without pain or strain.

In a blink, he transformed into a compact partial manifestation of the Eight-Tails, his lower body still unmistakably Killer Bee while his upper half became thick, powerful octopus head which had horns surprisingly one side was half-broken.

Yugito's eyes widened in pure shock, her breath catching as she instinctively took a step back.

"W-waahhh!" she shouted, pointing at him without thinking, her composure completely shattered. "You just—what did you just turn into?!"

Killer Bee laughed loudly, the sound echoing across the icy plain, clearly enjoying her reaction.

"Relax, relax," Bee said, waving one human hand dismissively while one tentacle flexed lazily. Now his Upper body retained the same, while the lower body shifted into octopus tentacles. "This is what harmony looks like when you stop fighting the beat."

Yugito stared, mouth slightly open, struggling to reconcile what she was seeing, would she also turn into an octopus? No way?

Before she could speak again, a sharp, disgusted voice cut in from the side.

"Eww."

Both Bee and Yugito turned toward the sound, spotting a green-haired woman standing a short distance away, her posture tense and her expression twisted in open revulsion as she stared at Bee's transformed lower half.

"That is disgusting," the woman added bluntly, crossing her arms as if the sight itself offended her.

Killer Bee raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed by her reaction, but he did not immediately respond. Yugito, on the other hand, stiffened, instinctively recognizing that this woman who had joined her from the past one year.

The green-haired woman was Pakura of the Sand, though no one present called her by name. Two years earlier, she had arrived in the Hidden Cloud under the guise of a displaced kekkei genkai user, claiming to possess a weakened variant of Scorch Release and seeking refuge during Kumo's recruitment drive.

Her performance during the entrance trials had been intentionally flawed, just convincing enough to pass as mediocre but not impressive enough to draw immediate suspicion, or so she believed at the time.

What Pakura never realized was that she had been identified the moment she set foot in Kumo. Kaien himself had noticed remembered the face of Pakura... though she tried her best to cover up, her mannerisms, and her behavior, had given her away. However, he told she is spy sent here most likely by Suna. So, Pakura is being monitored from the day one.

Kaien wanted to know who had sent her, what she was looking for, and her objectives.

For months, Pakura kept her head down, performing assigned duties with minimal complaint, never drawing attention to herself. Yet slowly, inevitably, her true interests began to surface.

She asked too many questions about the Uchiha capture. She lingered near reports involving newly integrated clans. She probed carefully, always indirectly, about the jinchūriki.

And that was when Killer Bee took notice when he was training Yugito Nii.

The day Pakura attempted to observe Yugito Nii's training session from a concealed vantage point was the day her mission ended according to her. Bee sensed her presence immediately, long before she realized she had been detected.

He confronted her openly, without theatrics, his relaxed demeanor masking overwhelming pressure. Pakura reacted instantly, recognizing the danger and preparing to activate the suicide pill hidden beneath her tongue, a failsafe issued to her by Danzo-sama.

She never got the chance.

"Ink Style: Paralysis bind," Killer Bee had said calmly, black ink exploding outward and formed sealing kanji midair before crashing into her body like chains. His natural sealing talents aided with Gyuki's Ink made it even deadly combination.

The seal locked her muscles, jaw, and chakra flow simultaneously, freezing her in place before she could even bite down.

Killer Bee disarmed her effortlessly, removing the pill, her weapons, and her hidden scrolls with practiced ease.

Instead of torture, execution, or imprisonment, Bee offered her a single alternative. To Bee, Pakura were know long back and they delayed to understand her motives now that they were clear, he quickly subsided her. Killing her now? Nah, that ain't the move, She'll switch her path like that tomato brat, he thought.

Live but live as his shadow.

From that day onward, Pakura followed Killer Bee everywhere, bound by fuinjutsu that prevented escape, suicide, or unsanctioned chakra use. Her communications with Konoha, which were initially thought to be to Suna turned out to be wrong, so they were monitored, and altered, feeding carefully crafted misinformation back through her channels back to her boss. And this is the other reason she was left alive so sh can pass the wrong information to Konoha.

To Konoha, Pakura remained an active asset, reporting partial successes, fabricated observations, and misleading timelines. She is made to send adequate information so she is not abandoned yet by Danzo.

Back in the present, Pakura glared at Bee's transformed form, unaware that events far away were spiraling toward catastrophe.

"You're disgusting," she repeated, though her voice carried less conviction than before.

Bee smirked and shifted back to his normal form, tentacles dissolving into chakra as easily as they had appeared.

"You get used to beauty once you stop fearing it," Bee replied lightly, and his eyes suddenly sharpened as he felt something shift in the distance.
