Uggrrrhhhhhhh… Oh… My… Days… What a luxury it was that I could skip lectures in Uni with no consequences… Fuck… How long has it been since I attended a lecture and took notes…
What a yap session…
For the remainder of the lecture, Archivist Orlan, the madman he is, schooled them on the requirements and basis for his barrier theory. To Isaac, Orlan's Barrier Theory (OB Theory) was briefly included in the game's index but was never fleshed out. It was merely a skill used to block higher-class Clause-Constructs that was unlocked in Act V.
The fact that I'm actually learning the science behind it is quite cool.
But what a BORE.
In summary of Isaac's notes:
——————————————————————————————————————————
Boring Ass Barrier:
OBT:
Ψₛₕᵢₑₗₜ = ℬ(∇ × [T₀⊗SU(2)ₜ]) ⋅ ∑ₙ₌₁⁵ e^(iθₙ) |𝑛⟩⟨𝑛| ⊗ 𝓥ₙ$
Where:
Ψₛₕᵢₑₗₜ = Shield wavefunction
ℬ = BEC coherence operator (scales with caster's Tau-9 receptor density)
∇ × [T₀⊗SU(2)ₜ] = Curl of Thaumiton-Wₜ boson interaction field
θₙ = Phase angles recursively defined by:
θₙ₊₁ = arcsin(ℏωₙ / 2‖𝓥ₙ‖)
|𝑛⟩⟨𝑛| = Pentagonal face eigenstates (n=1-4 for cube)
𝓥ₙ = Chiral flux vortices, stabilized via:
𝓥ₙ = ∫∂Ω (𝑔ₘ 𝒜𝜇 − 𝑖κ𝐹𝜇𝜈)𝑑𝑥𝜇 ∧ 𝑑𝑥𝜈
Vortex Tax: Each recursive layer consumes 7% of your body's equivalent mass (E=mc² via Tau-9 receptors)—Cannot 'opt out'—SU(2)ₜ symmetry = payment via neural tissue until the point of minimization or mitigation.
What To Do When Fail: When shield fractures, begins calculations and imposes the defect under '∂𝜇(𝑔ₘ𝒜𝜇 − κ𝐹𝜇𝜈) = 𝓥𝜈' to prevent 'brain boom'.
Homework: Calculate the θₙ for a 6-layer shield while maintaining ‖𝓥ₙ‖ < 0.6c, 5 decimal places.
Key Annotations:
- DO NOT LET 𝓥ₙ CROSS 0.7c
- Orlan's Law: If your shield isn't humming Dies Irae, you're doing it wrong.
Orlan's Warnings
On Neural Load:
"12 syn-units is the theoretical limit. The practical limit is when your nose starts bleeding backwards in time."
On Aesthetics:
"If your barrier doesn't emit at least 3 distinct sides of Thaumitons, you've built a kaleidoscope and not a shield.
Note to self:
Turn this into a memory palace later.
——————————————————————————————————————————
The selective projection of this crazy formula of a shield will have to wait. For now, Orlan expects us to merely actualize OBT for 0.2 seconds; hell, he'd probably weep tears of joy if we just manifested a stable trigon without liquefying our brainstems.
Seems simple… It's not bro… Would be worth it tho.
It's a Spell that carried you till endgame. The current version wouldn't do jackshit to a 15-Star spell, ofc. Assuming progression of 'Thaumitonic Physics' is parallel to societal age, then in a few years it finna be standard defense.
Such is Flynn's Effect; even these humans are susceptible to it.
Though…
My mind, or soul per se, carries an IQ of 201, yes,
But… What about this boy's innate cognitive capacity?
It raises an intriguing question for him. As Isaac walks towards the House of Esphyr, he gazes at the sky while his mind pours out his thoughts onto the world. He was tackling the ultimatum of realism.
Are stories fictitiously realistic? Or are stories realistically fictitious?
When a soul transmigrates into a new host, is the intellect of the previous retained?
In all those shitty fictional novels with the premise I face, the 'genius' of the previous world is always transferred alongside him/her, whereas the body of the host acts as the mentally inferior vessel.
Realistically?
Should be fucking impossible.
Intelligence, memory, skill, intuition, and personality are all physically instantiated in the architecture of the brain…
After all…
What are we, if not an accumulation of our memories?
- S.J. Watson
"Down to the synaptic wiring, dendritic branching patterns, neurotransmitter ratios, myelination, and the specific electrochemical rhythms unique to a single brain's development."
Is what my neuroscience undergraduate bro said.
Hope he's well bruh… Really would like to chat with him rn.
It's his quote I remember when deliberating on this topic by myself, another case of déjà vu …
You take an adult Prodigy or Genius and strip away their neurological substrate…
Then they might as well be a retarded ape, no different from early Humans.
A mind is not an abstract cloud floating above matter, but the emergent property of hundreds of trillions of synaptic interactions. Every long‑term memory has engram bundles distributed across cortical regions, with procedural mastery living in cerebellar loops and motor cortex maps shaped by years of practice.
Even 'raw talent' correlates with developmental genetics and how the brain self-organizes during childhood.
Transplanting a 'soul' into a completely different brain would be like trying to download a 100-gigabyte file into a 10-gigabyte HDD while expecting SSD levels of speed.
The information simply has nowhere to map…
More so, assuming I, a higher reality being, am being compressed.
A new nervous system means memories cannot be retrieved because of new synaptic pathways, learned skills cannot translate different sensory-to-cortex mappings, personality and temperament change because of different neurotransmitter baselines, and…
Most importantly…
Everything that makes up 'me' is gone because of a different developmental history.
I mean… Sure, it takes out all the fun of isekai / transmigration stories…
But…
'It matters to me.'
My predicament has shown that science MUST apply here. Even if the consciousness were somehow transferred, it would awaken inside an unfamiliar neural organ with none of its original wiring.
Does it retain its original intellect, or is it limited to mere knowledge?
Or…
Is the original intellect of the soul dumbed down due to the new body?
Basically, is a Genius bound to the mind… or the flesh?
Logically, there are three possible scenarios when a transmigrated soul inhabits a new body, ceteris paribus, all the higher dimensional shit:
One, the soul's intellect remains untouched, overriding the host's neural limitations. If the original mind were a supercomputer, it would simply rewrite the body's 'hardware' to match its processing power. Suggesting the 'Soul' is a substrate that interacts with the 3+1D Universe, if not greater, seeing as my Thaumitonic Zone is influenced by my Descender nature,
Two, raw information carries over, but innate intelligence, processing speed, creativity, and problem-solving remain bound to the host's brain. A Genius could recall their past theories but struggle to innovate further if the body's brain lacks the capacity.
Three, the soul's intellect is forcibly downgraded to harmonize with the new body's biological constraints. Like compressing a high-resolution image into a pixelated mess, the mind's sharpness dulls to match its vessel.
It's something I wish other authors would think carefully about… Now it's something I wish this author didn't think about… Heh… How ironic… But I guess they're too focused on letting their self-inserts sleep with every girl, so I can't expect anything from them.
But currently, which one applies to me?
If my comprehension struggles now, does that mean this body's brain is a bottleneck? Or is New EAA's knowledge so truly advanced that even an Earthly Genius is left scrambling?
Yes, there are incomprehensibilities to Earthlings that are everyday knowledge to Agereans.
But no... That can't be it.
Given enough revision time, I can learn all they have.
And above all… I refuse to believe an entire Institute operates beyond the grasp of the Human mind that once memorized, analysed, and evaluated metaphysical physics' theorems before breakfast.
Then the answer is obvious— This flesh is limiting me… Option 2 is then true.
My soul may carry knowledge, but if the brain lacks the synaptic firepower, even the sharpest intellect is shackled.
Which means… I need to upgrade.
In my simplest words: you don't get to keep the cheat sheet when you change the exam.
However… Just make a new cheat sheet.
Simple 😛.
Noësical Practical is the next lecture.
Ugh… Time to trade theory for bloodsport.
.
.
.
He made one crucial mistake.
He who still sees realism as fiction. Subconsciously, or maybe influenced by an unseen voice, avoided the obviousness of depravity. Ceteris paribus is an assumption that applies only in theory.
If the world were realistic in all of its science, be it physics, chemistry, and biology.
How could Isaac function perfectly fine with some slight mental lag when he himself stated that for a soul and host to work perfectly, their inner workings must be the same, down to the trillions of nerves in the brain?
It's true.
Then a body so faultlessly bespoked that it may carry his soul was formed.
If so,
Whose body did Isaac take over—and why was it perfectly his?
