Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 1

"FIRST DAY FIRST CLASH"

ARICA'S POV

I was sitting in my usual spot in the class — my throne on the fourth floor, right by the window.

From there, I could see the entire school entrance like a queen keeping an eye on her kingdom.

My eyes were closed, my mind floating somewhere else, when someone suddenly shouted my name —

"Ms. Mick Arica Windsor you've been called to the Guidance Office!"

I opened my eyes and tried to remember if I had done anything today that would earn me a summon.

As far as I knew, I'd behaved… relatively.

Still, I got up and made my way to the G.O., which sat on the second floor.

Just as I was about to knock, someone inside said,

"Come in."

I stepped in and there they were.

Two familiar faces sitting inside, and that's when I realized why I was here.

Michael and Kain.

The usual suspects. These two always got into fights with me. It seemed like they had nothing else to do besides this.

My headaches.

If picking fights were a sport, these two would've gone national.

As I stared at them, unimpressed, Mrs. Ray, our G.O. teacher, cut to the chase.

"Miss Windsor, they claim you're responsible for their condition."

Oh, the dramatics.

Now you must be wondering what condition?

Well, Michael had a fractured leg, and Kain's right hand was in a sling.

"Yes, ma'am, I did that," I said, not blinking.

And how could I not admit it? It happened right here — on school grounds.

What followed was a thirty-minute lecture by Mrs. Ray that felt longer than math class.

Michael and Kain were dismissed first, and then Mrs. Ray gave me the solo version of the lecture encore.

"You need to stop getting into fights, Arica."

I nodded, pretending to listen while her words went in one ear and out the other like background music I didn't subscribe to.

After a while, she finally waved me off, and I returned to class.

ETHAN'S POV

The air smelled... fresh. New.

Like possibilities or chaos.

I parked my car and walked toward the front gate of Oakridge International School, my new battlefield.

Nice name.

The name was fancy, and the campus matched: lush green lawns, neat benches, and a garden that looked like it belonged in a catalog.

Trees swayed gently as if welcoming me.

And then the whispers began.

"Is he new?"

"Kinda hot."

"I bet he's joining our class!"

Some squealed like they'd just seen a K-drama lead in real life.

I sighed, ignoring the attention.

Here we go again.

I walked into reception and handed in my transfer letter.

"Fourth Year, Section A — where is that?" I asked.

Two students directed me to the new building, the third floor.

As I made my way up, I thought, I'm good at studies, but Section A? Not really my vibe.

But hey, what choice do I have?

I reached the third floor, searching for section A. Just then, I heard someone call,

"Mr. Ethan Frascella?"

The man looked like a teacher. So I walked up to him and greeted him with a,

"Good morning."

"Yes, sir? Did you call me? "

"I'm your Section A teacher. Your transfer file has been sent to me. But there's something the principal and I need to discuss first."

Day One, and I was already headed to the principal's office.

Brilliant.

Without thinking much, I said yes to him.

"Alright, sir. Let's go "

He took me to the principal's office on the second floor.

We entered after a quick knock.

As soon as we step inside, the principal is just about to sit in his chair. He gestures towards the chairs in front of his desk, signaling me to sit. Without much thought, I take a seat, and so does he.

But something feels... off.

For some reason, he doesn't give off the typical "principal" vibe.

Maybe it's because he looks too young for the role. A young principal?

The two words don't seem to match in my head.

He clears his throat and speaks.

"Mr. Frascella, we received your transfer request a month ago. Yet you are joining us now. Why the late arrival?"

"Personal reasons, sir."

"Because of your late arrival, we can no longer place you in section A".

"Unfortunately, Section A is full. Every section except one is full."

I raised an eyebrow.

"Which one?"

"We have no choice but to assign you to

Section D."

"I will sign your new transfer letter, and your new teacher will receive your file."

Great. From A to D, huh?

Love that for me.

"Okay, sir."

ARICA'S POV

I had barely stepped out of G.O. when Emma dashed toward me.

"Arica! David and Carlex are fighting again — in class!"

Perfect. What now? Who did I even see first thing in the morning, or did I must've see a black cat?

Just as I rushed back, I smacked into someone right outside the principal's office.

My shoulder hit his hard, but I didn't stop.

About to walk away when I heard a voice behind me.

"What the hell! Are you blind?" he snapped.

I stopped, raised my index finger, and shot back,

"If I weren't in a rush, I'd give you the perfect reply to your 'What the hell.'"

Then I grabbed Emma's hand and marched off.

Inside the class, chaos waited.

Upon entering, I saw.

David and Carlex were holding each other by the collars.

"David! Carlex! Chill!" I shout

They immediately let go.

"He started it!" David complained

"Liar! He did!" Carlex countered.

"Shut up!" I snapped.

" What's the fight about?"

"He ate my entire lunch!" David shouted.

"I didn't I don't even have mine!" Carlex defended.

I turned to Chaddy.

"Did you ask Chaddy?" I suggest.

Both boys turned towards Chaddy.

Two empty lunchboxes sat in front of him.

His hand casually rubbed his stomach.

Realizing the truth, David and Carlex chased him out of the class, while the rest of us burst out laughing at the scene.

I turned to Emma.

"What happened again?"

EMMA'S POV

Arica looked at me. Asking what was wrong.

"That guy… he was so handsome — OMG, he was so hot. Total chocolate boy. Sexy!"

Arica frowned.

"Who? Who are you talking about?"

"The one you bumped into outside the principal's office!"

More girls joined in.

"He was that cute?"

"You sure he's new?"

Arica rolled her eyes.

"You all gossip like it's your full-time job. I'm not interested."

She walked away.

"Let her go. That's just Arica being Arica," the others shrugged.

But wow… that guy.

I couldn't stop thinking about him.

ETHAN'S POV

Who the hell was she?

First, she bumped into me, and didn't even apologized! Knocked my stuff down — and vanished like some tornado.

Didn't even look at me properly.

But that bracelet on her wrist…

That's my clue.

She'll apologize. One way or another.

Seriously, I thought this day would be chill.

But the universe — or the author—is pulling my leg.

Let's see what happens next.

ARICA'S POV

I had no interest in their gossip.

Back at my desk, the gang gathered around.

"G.O. again?" Chaddy asked.

"Oh, same Michael and Kain," I replied.

Chaddy let out an exaggerated sigh.

"You'd think after getting their butts handed to them yesterday, they'd chill. But nope, shameless as ever".

David nodded seriously. "Certified idiots. No cure".

Carlex smirked.

"Arica, maybe we should just ask the hospital for membership or reserve a VIP hospital room for them."

I crossed my arms.

"You know what? You guys are right. Every other day, it's the same thing, Michael, Kain".

"I should start charging them. This is getting ridiculous."

"Bring them a bouquet next time."

"And steal their hospital pudding," Chaddy joked.

I couldn't help but laugh. This idiot's always found a way to make things less miserable.

"Don't stress, Arica," David said.

I turned to him with a smirk.

"I think you're forgetting something."

David blinked.

"Uh... what?

"David… I don't take stress. I give it."

A beat of silence. Then we all cracked up, clutching our stomachs.

"Bro, your survival instincts are broken," Chaddy said.

"Fully fried," Carlex nodded.

"I hate you guys," David groaned.

"Aww. Don't pout. Wrinkles are real," I teased.

And with that, we all started laughing again.

Just then, our class teacher, Mr. Evans, walked in.

Our first class of the day began.

But then…

The door creaked open.

Everyone turned and started looking to see who it was??.....

Silence fell.
