Chapter 131 - Chapter 132: Fantastic Four, Wanda's Talent

Chapter 132: Fantastic Four, Speedrun

Xi Nian and Lorna followed Susan and the others back to their company.

It was a tall building in one of the most expensive and bustling districts of Los Angeles. The entire 28th floor near the top was occupied by Reed's technology company.

With his left hand still gripping Susan's waist and his right arm held by the green-haired Lorna, Xi Nian was practically being escorted forward by the two of them. Johnny, whose face resembled Captain America's, raised his brows and teased, "Kid, so young and already walking around with two girls in your arms. You've outdone me when I was your age!"

"Johnny, you'll scare people if you talk like that," Susan scolded.

Reed kept silent the whole way.

The rock-skinned man called Ben looked gloomy, the picture of heartbreak. His dried stone-like eyes almost seemed ready to shed tears. And when they all crowded into the elevator, his large frame caused it to overload, forcing him to ride the next one alone.

That only made him even more miserable—

Xi Nian had noticed a kind of rule: these big, bulky superhuman types were destined to have it rough. They carried the thickest shields but always took the hardest hits. The Hulk at least had the option to change back into a normal human form. Ben, though… he might be stuck like this for life.

They arrived at the vast, messy office floor.

Xi Nian glanced around. The place was full of professional scientific instruments, and the walls were lined with star charts and space mission schedules. Clearly, these people had recently gone into space on a shuttle.

Wait.

Xi Nian twitched slightly at the thought.

Could it be… that shuttle was the very one he almost crashed into during his battle with Superman in Super-God mode?

No way. Not that much of a coincidence… right?

He gave Susan and the others another look. Quietly, he guessed that maybe their powers came from something they encountered out there in space.

Reed and the others had no idea what the boy was thinking. If they did, they would've been shocked—because he was already dangerously close to the truth.

…

"Let me run a check first."

Reed led everyone into a lab equipped with diagnostic machines. He pulled out a handheld laser scanner and tested the connection point between Susan's waist and Xi Nian's palm.

Xi Nian kept calm. He made sure not to activate any of his own energies, worried that they'd be discovered. In a sense, he was currently holding Susan's powers more stably than she herself was.

After all, Xi Nian had already possessed bodies weaker than Susan's and far stronger than hers, more than once. His adaptability to new powers are now probably the highest in the world.

Susan, by comparison, had only just discovered part of her power. She hadn't even fully unlocked her basic potential yet.

Sometimes the "pirated copy" could outperform the original!

Looking at the results on the scanner, Reed frowned and explained, "Susan, there's a strange force field inside your body. That's likely one of your new abilities. Because it's unstable, it's pulling at Max's hand and won't let go."

"So how do we separate?"

Susan's face reddened. She could constantly feel the boy's hot palm pressing against the sensitive curve of her waist. Her body instinctively wanted to move away, yet the force field stubbornly held them together.

It was like Xi Nian's hand kept rubbing against her sensitive skin nonstop and the worse part is, she's the one who wouldn't let go.

"I don't recommend forcing it," Reed said after some thought. "That might destabilize the field and hurt you both. Most likely, it's temporary. If you relax, or at some point soon, the field will collapse on its own."

"How long will that take?" Susan asked.

Reed hesitated, then said helplessly, "It could be minutes, hours… maybe even a day or two."

"You'll both have to put up with it for now. Stay here for the time being, Max, Polaris." Susan sighed apologetically at Xi Nian and Lorna.

"It's fine. Honestly, I think it's a fascinating experience." Xi Nian smiled.

He really wasn't worried. He knew very well that by the time his Master of Affection effect ended, they'd naturally separate.

Half a day at most.

Ben, however, was too impatient. He stomped forward and said, "Reed, hurry up and check me! See if you can turn me back to normal!"

"No problem." Reed nodded. He needed a test subject anyway, and Ben was the perfect candidate.

As he prepared the instruments, Reed absentmindedly reached for something several meters away. His arm suddenly stretched out like rubber, grabbed the item, then snapped back to normal length.

Rubber Man? What is this, Luffy?

Xi Nian nearly blurted the joke aloud but restrained himself.

"I don't even want to turn back. This is awesome, don't you think?" Johnny smirked, snapping his fingers. Flames burst to life in his palm, dancing freely without burning his skin.

Xi Nian studied him. Johnny's control over fire reminded him of that intruder he'd fought before—same heat, same ignition. But the difference was clear. Johnny used his own energy to create external flames, showing a deeper mastery of fire. That invader, on the other hand, simply heated his own body until he exploded, setting things around him ablaze.

"That's because you didn't end up looking like me!" Ben roared, enraged by Johnny's casual attitude. "You try switching appearances with me, then see how your girlfriends look at you! I swear, you'd cry!"

"I'm Human Torch, not some rock freak. If I had to live like you, I'd rather die." Johnny spread his hands, totally unafraid of Ben's monstrous glare.

"Enough, Johnny. Stop talking!" Susan scolded again. Johnny finally shut up.

Yeah, afraid of his sister. That rule worked across the world.

Xi Nian thought wryly. Looking at Lorna acting the part of obedient little sister beside him, he suddenly remembered Wanda back home.

At this moment…

Wanda should have already been taken to Kamar-Taj by the Ancient One to begin her training.

Magic must be really hard to learn, right?

…

Kamar-Taj.

On the training grounds, a young scarlet-haired girl repeated an incantation she had just heard once. With a simple gesture, glowing lines of magical energy sprang into existence at her fingertips.

The Ancient One looked on calmly, but everyone else—including Master Mordo—stared wide-eyed, utterly stunned.

For ordinary people, the very first step into sorcery was always the hardest. Even with talent, one had to sacrifice wisdom, labor, and countless years of effort just to reach the threshold of becoming an apprentice.

But someone blazing through on their very first attempt like this? Mordo had never seen such a thing.

The wind stirred gently across the centuries-old training ground, sunlight bathing the space.

Golden spell-lines shimmered, sparks dancing in the air like tiny worlds.

And Wanda's delicate, slender hands—the same hands that usually just did chores at home—had so easily touched the mysteries of the multiverse!
