Chapter 25 - The Price of Victory

The Break-In

The LaRusso house was dark when Cobra Kai came. Kreese, Johnny, and their army of students stood like shadows in the driveway, weapons glinting faintly in the moonlight.

Chozen stood in front of them, his face unreadable. For days, he had fought Daniel's protests, reminding him of the deal: the winners take everything. Daniel refused, but Chozen… Chozen bowed to tradition. He stepped aside, even as guilt ate at him.

Daniel clenched his fists, standing in the doorway with Amanda trembling beside him. "You'll have to go through me first," he spat, fury in his voice.

Johnny met his eyes, cold. "You lost. We take what's ours."

Kreese raised his hand, and the Cobras stormed forward.

Anthony's End

Anthony LaRusso was dragged out first, kicking, screaming, eyes wide with terror. "Please! Don't do this! Please!" His voice cracked as he turned toward Andrea. His crush, the girl he admired even from afar.

"Andrea," he begged, voice shaking. "Please… don't let them do this. I… I like you. I always have. Just… please."

For a moment, Andrea's face was unreadable. Something in her eyes flickered — that tiny, buried humanity clawing to surface. But then her jaw tightened. The mask slipped back on. Cold. Ruthless. Cobra Kai.

"Mercy is weakness," Andrea whispered.

With one swift, merciless strike, Anthony fell. His body collapsed in front of Amanda and Daniel, lifeless, blood staining the floor. Amanda's scream tore through the night, raw and piercing, as she dropped to her knees beside her son's body. Daniel's face crumbled, the fight draining from him.

"No… no, no, no, Anthony!" Amanda's voice cracked, her sobs echoing. She shook his shoulders, as if she could wake him up, but his eyes stared blankly, gone.

Daniel staggered back against the wall, tears streaming down his face. "Not my boy… not my boy…"

Chozen turned his head away, shame etched into every line of his face.

The Aftermath

Word spread fast. By morning, the entire Valley knew: Cobra Kai had taken its victory too far.

Anthony LaRusso's death wasn't just a tragedy — it was war. Parents pulled their kids from school, neighbors whispered, the streets buzzed with talk of revenge.

Groups of civilians armed themselves with bats, knives, even guns. They didn't see Cobra Kai as kids anymore. They saw them as killers, soldiers of Kreese and Johnny. The Valley was ready to fight back.

The Cobras at School

Meanwhile, at East Ridge High, Cobra Kai moved as one. Andrea, Robby, Tory, Hawk, Kyler, Kenny, Bert, and Mitch — all together. A gang, a family, marching down the hallways like they owned them. Their black uniforms weren't just karate gis anymore — they were armor.

Other students scattered as they passed. Some whispered insults under their breath:

"Wannabe gangsters.""They're trash.""Cobra Kai's dead. They're just thugs now."

The Cobras stopped in their tracks. Hawk's eyes narrowed. Tory smirked cruelly. Kyler cracked his knuckles.

Andrea stepped forward, her voice low but deadly. "Say that again."

The brave ones who did? They didn't leave the hallways unscathed. The Cobras didn't just fight with fists anymore. Metal pipes, chains, brass knuckles — the school became a battlefield. And with each scream, each broken body, the Cobras' reputation as untouchable killers grew.

But so did the hatred against them.

Sam's Awakening

At the hospital, Sam LaRusso finally stepped outside. Her injuries had healed enough for her to walk, though every movement hurt. Miguel was there, helping her into the sunlight.

She smiled faintly, clinging to him. "Finally… I can go home. I can see my family."

Miguel's face tightened. His eyes darted away.

Sam froze. "Miguel… what's wrong?"

He swallowed hard, his throat dry. "Sam… there's something you need to know."

Her chest tightened. "What?"

Miguel hesitated, then finally whispered, "It's Anthony."

Sam's eyes widened, horror flooding her face. "No… no, Miguel, don't—"

"He's gone," Miguel said softly, tears filling his eyes. "Cobra Kai… Andrea… they—"

Sam staggered back, clutching her stomach. Her knees gave out, and she fell to the ground, sobbing. "NO! No, no, no, no!" Her cries echoed, raw, broken.

Miguel knelt beside her, wrapping his arms around her trembling frame. He held her tightly as she screamed into his chest, his own tears falling silently.

"I'm sorry," he whispered over and over, kissing her hair. "I'm so sorry."

Sam choked out, "I can't… I can't live without him. They took my brother, Miguel… they took him."

Miguel's jaw tightened. He knew he couldn't go back to Cobra Kai after this. He looked into Sam's broken eyes and made his choice.

"I'm done," Miguel whispered. "I'm taking a break from Cobra Kai. For you. For your family. I don't care what they say… I'm not part of that anymore."

Sam clung to him, sobbing harder, her world shattered.
