Chapter 19 - Chapter 19

Ego POV:

"I love you," the man says.

He looked like a middle-aged man with silver-gray hair and rugged features, dressed in casual Earthling clothes.

Standing next to him was a blue, humanoid female bug.

This man was Ego — Ego the Living Planet. A Celestial, primordial and terrible in his power.

He was a living planet; the man was his avatar. His age stretched back to the dawn of the universe, close to fourteen billion years.

At the start he had been a flickering consciousness in an ocean of nothingness. Aware, but alone. So terribly alone.

He existed like that for millions of years — little more than a brain floating in endless darkness: to think, to feel, but to have no form. He had no substance. He couldn't touch the universe around him. He had no mouth, but he must scream.

He watched stars ignite and die, the birth of galaxies. Through all of that he was nothing but a thought. He yearned. Yearning for more.

And consciousness, true consciousness, is a powerful thing.

Slowly but surely he began to manipulate matter. First dust, then rocks, then entire asteroid belts. He built his body layer by layer until he became what he finally was: a living planet.

But that wasn't enough. He was still alone.

He searched the cosmos for others like him — other celestials who might understand the weight of eternity.

There were none.

So he decided to create meaning for himself: to seed the universe with his essence, to find those worthy of carrying on his legacy.

Ego slowly rubbed the bug woman's belly; it bulged with pregnancy. "Soon, little one," he said to the woman's stomach. "Soon," he murmured.

His one true goal was expansion — to make everything in the universe himself, implanting extensions of himself on every world. But he lacked the power to do it alone.

He needed another celestial, another him. So on every planet he visited he seeded life: he impregnated a female of the population and waited for the child to be born, hoping — hoping so deep in his heart — that the child would inherit his powers, the powers of a god.

The powers of a Celestial.

"I can't wait for the little guy to be born," he said in a small, absurd baby voice. "Yes— I can't." He rubbed the woman's stomach harder.

Suddenly he started gagging.

"Are you okay?" the bug woman asked in her language.

He groaned and gagged.

Crack crack crack.

His avatar's body began to go blue; fissures crawled across it. It started to disintegrate.

What the ego? What the ego? What's happening? he screamed in his mind.

He roared in rage and tried to rebuild the avatar.

What madness is this? Something's happening to me — to my planet, to my body. It's like an infection. Something dares to invade my being. No, no, no! I am eternal! I am Ego the Living Planet!

He deformed the avatar quickly. Back on the planet that was him, Ego reformed the avatar there — still laced with cracks — and tried to see what was happening.

"What is this?" he murmured, his voice trailing off.

Crack crack crack.

Suddenly the avatar fell onto its back and disintegrated into blue cosmic dust that the planet absorbed. This wasn't how it was supposed to go.

"I'm supposed to become the one true being in the universe," were his last thoughts before he went silent.

Gaia POV

Yeah, I kinda forgot about Ego.

Not really forgot—I knew he was around—but I forgot he left part of himself on Earth.

And that's enough. Through that seed he planted, I got instant access to his true body: his planet. So, in a way, I'm also Ego now.

One step closer to becoming Eternity. Truly, everything goes my way.

Now I've got real mobility throughout the universe. I can just fly my Ego-body anywhere. How great is that?

I quickly link into my Ego body and look around. Wow. This place is nice. But strange. Red flowers everywhere. Mountains that shoot straight up out of the ground like towers. Everything looks very… very trippy.

Huh? What's this? I lock onto something. There's… life.

Yes. Mantis. Ego's daughter.

Well… what should I do with you?

She's around twenty. Not exactly useful—I don't need sleep. But I can't just leave her here. If I use this planet as my personal spaceship, she'll just die. And I don't want her dying in such a dumb way.

So… I'll throw her in the Hollow Dimension.

She can put Ghidorah and Godzilla to sleep when they want to. After all, she made Ego fall asleep. I'll just implant the command: when you want to rest, find Mantis. At least she'll be useful.

Let's check on them. Been a while.

Zoop!

A deep, guttural roar shatters the Hollow Dimension.

HRRAAAAAAAGH!

"Kee, kee, kee, daaah!" Three voices laugh.

Ghidorah. Godzilla. They're playing.

Both are about sixty feet tall. Still small for them—but growing fast.

Godzilla's got the edge in height, though Ghidorah looks taller thanks to his massive wingspan. Right now, they're having a contest: who can catch the most T-Rexes.

And Godzilla? Losing badly.

How could he not? He's facing a three-headed dragon that can fly. Ghidorah's mobility is insane—snatching up T-Rexes with ease.

Godzilla growls.

Hrrrrrrrmmmmmm.

A rumble from deep in his chest. His dorsal plates light up, one by one—blue light racing from the tip of his tail up his spine. The sound builds, louder, sharper. His growl grows more menacing.

Ghidorah notices instantly. Sparks crackle across his body—bzzz, bzzz—static filling the air.

Golden lightning dances along his scales.

Each of his three mouths glows with yellow, malevolent energy

kzzzz, kzzz, kzzzz—charging, building, rising.

From where I'm watching, their auras clash—blue versus yellow. And then—

SKREEEEOONK! — BZZAAAAP!

KRAK-A-THOOM! ZAP! BZZZAP!

They unleash at the same time: Godzilla's atomic breath colliding against Ghidorah's three golden gravity beams.

The explosion is catastrophic. A white flash, blinding. Like a small nuke going off.

The surrounding three thousand feet? Gone. A pit gouged into the earth. Smoke everywhere. Clouds ripped apart. Steam rising. The ground scorched black.

Yep,Mantis is gonna be in great hands.

Yoink. Clap.

She spawns in.

Just to be sure—I tweak her a little. That. That. And that. Perfect. I guide her evolution, make sure she can survive this place.

I snap my non-existent fingers—now no creature in here will be hostile to her. Not even Godzilla or Ghidorah.

I also slip the telepathic message into their minds: If you want sleep, find her.

The rest? She can figure it out herself. Hard or not. After all… she's on a whole different planet in a whole different dimension.

Oh well. :)

Author Note -

RIP Ego.

Anyway, in this chapter Gaia got Ego as a body, and also got a pet mantis. We also see what's been happening with Godzilla and Ghidorah, and how much they are coming along in strength.

Also, please tell me some things about the MCU, just random things like characters, villains because I've learned through making this that I forgot quite a lot about the MCU. I'm having to open ten different tabs just to know what something is, lmao 😭

Make sure to give 5 stars! The more 5 stars, the more motivated I'll be to write more 😎

Also, 69 followers... nice. 👌😏
