Mephistopheles laughed, a low, melodic sound that sent shivers down their spines.
"Enemy? Oh, my dear girls. You misunderstand."
She walked towards us, her movements graceful and unhurried.
"You've proven your worth. You've passed my little test."
She looked at me, her eyes gleaming with pride.
Now I could see her intentions clearly.
Mephistopheles had tested us, pushed us to our limits, to be prepared for what's to come.
"So what happens now?" I asked, my voice steady.
Mephistopheles smiled, a predatory glint in her eyes. "Now? Now your real training begins."She gestured to the destroyed remains of the knights.
"Those were mere toys. Austin...and the forces helping him, your enemies are far more powerful, and they won't hesitate to destroy everything you hold dear."
She stepped closer, her voice dropping to a whisper.
