Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Mission Impossible

"Well, at least I got a fit…" Anansi muttered under his breath, glaring down at the remains of his torn coat. His jaw tightened as he pulled at a shredded sleeve. Not going to lie—he was pissed. Low-key, high-key, middle-key pissed.

Hours. Hours he had put into sewing, stitching, enchanting, adjusting, and modifying that DMC3-inspired masterpiece. It was sharp, regal, a perfect mix of elegance and menace. And in less than five minutes, the damn Karma System had ripped it apart like it was a cheap costume from a thrift bin.

Now, instead of striding around like a devil slayer in tailored black, he was wearing the system's idea of "style."

His new look wasn't exactly bad, though. It resembled the uniform of a soldier from another dimension—black, purple, and white fabric cut to precision, lined with reinforced panels that flexed like living armor. The long coat trailed at his sides, boots heavy against the ground, and across his face remained the one thing the system hadn't stripped from him: the hollow mask. Together, it gave him the look of a ghostly mercenary, something between legend and nightmare.

Still… "That outfit took me hours," Anansi grumbled. "And this knockoff ain't even close. Bastards."

As he was busy complaining about fashion crimes, a new sound cut through his thoughts. A voice—not heard, but felt—rattled directly into his mind like cold metal scraping across glass.

[Detecting that host survived the cybernetic upgrades and Super Soldier Serum.]

[The Karma System is now officially activating.]

[Ready to begin spreading evil.]

Anansi froze, then let out a slow, feral grin. Finally. Finally. The waiting, the injections, the pain—it was all leading to this moment.

A system made for him. A system that whispered in his bones and promised him everything. Power. Wealth. Pokémon. Domination. And if it wanted him to spread evil?

Oh, that was no problem.

"Finally…" he whispered, licking his lips. "Time to spread my brand of evil into this sweet little world. Drugs, women, Pokémon, ruling the world… baby, line them up."

The system pulsed again, lines of glowing text shimmering across his vision.

It was exactly as he expected—a system built for cultivating Pokémon. Strange, sure. A Chinese cultivation mechanic shoved into a Japanese monster-catching world. But Anansi didn't care. Cultivation, technology, nanotech—he could use all of it. He was adaptable. He was ruthless. Evil wasn't about complaining—it was about opportunity. And he had just been handed a golden one.

There was work to be done, though. Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither was an empire of evil.

[To obtain resources, Host must complete system-assigned tasks. Completing tasks will reward Karma Points.]

The message expanded, glowing in two distinct colors. On the left, blue. On the right, red.

Anansi tilted his head. Two paths, huh? Good and evil. Yin and yang. A baby's choice.

"Yeah, no brainer." He smirked and pressed the blue side without a second thought.

But the moment his finger touched, the system shifted. The glowing blue bled into a deep, sinister purple, threaded with bright, almost mocking streaks of heroic blue along its edges. The light wrapped around his body, settling into his aura like oil poured into water.

The heavens above trembled.

Unseen by Anansi, countless divine beings—watchers from higher planes—stared down in shock. The Goddess of Fate, the Goddess of Luck, the Goddess of Justice, and even the Goddess of Balance all froze, their jaws dropping in disbelief. Three more figures joined them: Mew, radiant and ageless; Diancie, sparkling like living diamond; and Meloetta, who covered her lips as if unsure whether to laugh or cry.

"…Did he just—?"

"Impossible…"

"He does know that he pick…"

And yet Anansi simply rolled his shoulders and cracked his neck, blissfully unaware that his selection had bent the rules of the universe itself.

The Karama System is a system given to souls that enter the world that given great deeds in their previous lives withered be good or bad. Performing certain positive actions, like saving citizens from danger or aiding lawmen, will earn the reincarnator/transmigrator Positive Karma. Alternatively, taking negative actions, like attacking lawmen, aiding outlaws, stealing, and acting violently toward innocents, will result in the Negative Karma. Depending on how drastic a decision is, the end results can be subtle or significant. The reincarnator/transmigrator actions change their appearance, how their powers develop powers. But since this is a Pokémon world also affects the reincarnator/transmigrator Pokémon as well.

But there a special changes when the Karma system Blue or Red can change. Anansi when he chose Blue the Blue side turned in Dark Purple with heroic blue outline reflection his Evil side. The Karama System Karma points could be used to purchase corresponding items in the system store, which enhanced Pokémon strength externally. Karma points were precious because they could achieve abilities similar to a complete metamorphosis.

Of course, karma points could be obtained by completing tasks, and the number of points received was based on Anansi's evaluation of the completed task. A minimum D-rank evaluation yielded only five karma point, while the highest was an SS-rank evaluation, which could grant five hundred task points in one go.

It even listed them:

D-Rank Task: 5 points

C-Rank Task: 15 points

B-Rank Task: 50 points

A-Rank Task: 100 points

S-Rank Task: 250 points

SS-Rank Task: 500 points

Anansi's jaw went slack. Then his laughter filled the room, sharp and unhinged.

"You… you're telling me my first quest is to rob the Pokémon professor himself? That old coot who hands out glorified rats and reptiles to preteens?" He cackled harder, clutching his stomach. "This is peak Saturday morning villainy. I love it."

Pichu tilted his head, sparks crackling uncertainly. "Piiii…?"

"Don't worry, little demon," Anansi purred, crouching down to eye level with his partner. His mask reflected Pichu's bright eyes. "We're gonna rob Oak blind, and you're gonna get some siblings. Let's go ruin three kids' dreams."

The system chimed coldly:

[Mission: Impossible — Commencing.]
