Nagito walked with Tony after his encounter that scared him shitless. The silence though, was awkward. It felt like the right time to talk, but no one did.
'Damn it, I feel like there's something I should say to him.' Nagito thought.
Tony still, even if it was for the slightest, was holding a smile. Even Nagito thought it was a little odd. But they kept walking to the living quarters.
"Alright, just take a chill pill and rest."
"I will, thanks."
Tony opened the door to Ash's room, then closed the door, leaving Nagito alone with him and his thoughts. He plopped down into the soft bed, swallowing him.
Still, a tremendous worry came over him for what that entity was. Was it a person? Or his imagination? Nagito couldn't figure it out.
But an alarm was sounded before he could try to.
Rapid footsteps entered the lounge, Nagito got out and followed them.
'What's going on?'
He followed the captain to where ever he was going. Other squadrons also were moving in the same direction. None were of panic, just fast.
"What's happening?" Nagito asked the captain.
"There's been DELTA knights spotted in the forest."
"What the hell are those?"
Captain turned to him in disbelief, practically sighing.
"Their like our versions of the AVALONS."
Nagito nodded, getting it now. But there was one thing he was curious about.
"So what are we gonna do?"
"We're gonna drive our AVALONS, and kill them."
Nagito understood. Then, he remembered picking up the captain's old AVALON-6's key from his last timelines, it was still in his right pocket.
"Let me drive."
Nagito said, confidently. Captain Ryan looked at him, as if he was delusional. Then, he smiled, tossing him the keys.
Nagito's eyes lit up, now confident. He had never piloted before, but now's the time to learn. Honestly, he was also nervous. But the captain put trust in him.
'This'll get my mind off things.' Things as in that entity.
"There's a manual implemented into the screen. So the AVALON's are really easy to pilot."
Nagito nodded at the input, and soon, they reached the garage of the base.
"Pilots, since we don't have suits for you yet, you'll have to drive without vital sync."
Vital sync is a feature in the AVALON. What it did was monitor your vitals like heart beat, and whether or not if you were nervous. That kind of stuff.
It isn't a mandatory requirement to have it, but it made it easier for people to know if the mechs' pilots were dead.
While everyone got in their army vehicles, the pilots of the 7 AVALONs got into their cockpits which were located it the helm of the mech.
'This is tight.' Nagito got in, and sat in the hard, cold, metal chair. But inside as it lit up, he saw.
To his left and right, were handles pilots grabbed to maneuver the arms of the mech. At the center-front of the cockpit, was the screen Captain Ryan mentioned. The dynamic screen changes whenever the best option in a situation is available.
On the screen it read "Push both handles down."
Nagito gripped onto the handles, pushed down then twisted. Like unlocking a door with a key. In fact, right now, the pilots don't have keys because it's their first day on the job. Not expecting to get enemy sightings this early.
But as he twisted, all the other controls lit up green. The holo hud in front of him showed the AVALON's loading process.
[PILOT BODY/AVL SYNC: 0%]
[PILOT TELECONTROL SYNC: YET TO PUT ON CROWN]
Nagito put on the crown, which sat strapped on his head. The crown is what basically let's the pilot's brain control most of the mecha, except for the arms, being disconnected from the telecontrol.
[PILOT TELECONTROL SYNC: 100%]
[HELM SYNC: 100%]
[TORSO SYNC: 100%]
[WAIST SYNC: 100%]
[LEGS SYNC: 100%]
[AVALON-4 IS SYNCHRONIZED]
From the outside, the AVALON's cyan eyes lit up. On the inside, Nagito is now ready to pilot. In front of him, was a screen that showed the outside, through the AVALON's eyes itself.
'Let's get this thing running.'
Controlling it with his brain and thoughts, the mecha moved out.
Despite being the last one, trailing the other AVALONs, they moved with great speed, 50 miles per hour. Not faster than a sports car, but what do you expect when moving 4 tons of a bucket of bolts?
The forest is the same as the other timeline's. But this time, he noticed left over snow. Seeming like it was just winter.
'Fit for something that moves like a roller skater.' He snickered, not conscious of how weird he sounded in his head.
On the outside, the other members of the squadron already were ahead of all the AVALONs. The breeze was chilly, but not too cold. Enough to make your ears red.
Carla and Vermy chatted, seemed like they made friends quick. Although, Vermy's still hostile.
"I can see the enemies up ahead!"
The captain yelled, putting down his binoculars. With the Avalon's magnifying eyesight, Nagito and the other pilots could see too.
'It's about time we get serious!'
