It was almost midnight when Viktor and Nico pulled up to the safe house; the car's headlights cut through the darkness before Viktor switched them off.
The safe house was quiet, as usual. Viktor sat in the backseat, his mind still reeling from the encounter with Camilla. The implant in her chest, the mysterious backer... it all felt like a noose tightening around his neck. He couldn't shake the feeling that this was bigger than just Camilla's ambitions. Nico parked smoothly, killing the engine, and turned to face him.
"Boss, we're here. Anything else before I head out?"
Viktor nodded as he leaned against the car door, relaying his orders in a low voice.
"Prepare the car for when I give the signal. You'll go get Camilla and bring her here. Make sure she's blindfolded or something. She can't know the location of this place. And double-check no one's following you. Use the back routes, switch vehicles if you have to."
