Felix woke to sunlight and the uncomfortable realization that his neck was cramped from sleeping at an odd angle.
He blinked, disoriented, then remembered—the couch, Matteo, falling asleep tangled together.
Matteo was still beneath him, one arm draped protectively across Felix's back, the other hanging off the couch.
His face was peaceful in sleep, hair falling across his cheek, and Felix took a moment just to look at him.
"Morning," Matteo's voice was rough, gravelly in a way that sent warmth through Felix's chest.
"Morning." Felix stretched as much as he could without disturbing Matteo too much. "We fell asleep on the couch."
"We did." Matteo's hand moved up to cup the back of Felix's head, fingers threading through his hair. "Not the worst place to wake up."
"Your back is going to hate you."
"Worth it." Matteo's thumb brushed behind Felix's ear, and Felix felt himself melting into the touch despite the awkward position and the growing need to use the bathroom.
