The corridor was thin and very dim almost dark enough for a shadow to become lost. Lights flickered from the west to south, the kind that makes the viewer's bones chill.
Skri skri.
"Headmaster" the informant shouted as he barged in.
"What did I tell you about knocking huh? Decherd? The Headmaster gazing to the horizon close to his chair posing like someone who's clearly done for the day.
"Forgive me sir, the information was brought late to my attention so I had to hurry as quickly as possible ."
He implied as he knelt down showing remorse and respect.
However the headmaster wasn't even angry, he knew that the information had to be rank two rated meaning it can affect the ears of the school. "speak, or didn't you have some top secret news you were dying to share?"
The informat surprise as he would have normally be suppressed with a burst of mana aura. He quickly bundled the scroll he was holding.
"Heeere sir, its concerning the school factions and their recent actions lately." He said more than the scroll gave off initially.
The Headmaster took the scroll and assessed it in no time but the most shocking one was the Faction war he read just now. Back in his days there were nothing like this. Its almost impossible to destroy the Wind Faction's reputation and yet some freshman from a newly formed Faction singlehandedly wiped them out.
"This is a pain. There's no way the higher ups of the Wind Faction didn't hear about this, no way. We'll have to punish every partaker of this fight." He said in an orderly manner emitting his years of experience in these few sentences.
"Or do you not have their names?" he implied further before wrapping the scroll and burning it.
"Huh? Oh their names, I have it on me" patted himself up and down. "could've sworn I had it on a second ago." Feeling confused as to where the list of troublemakers went.
"So you don't have it? Are those gestures to waste my time?" his glasses shimmering with the dying sunlight. As he tried to calm he spoke.
"Nevermind, you're dismissed. I'll ask my supervisor." Before sitting down he shifted his glasses.
"Yes this subordinate shall take his leave and if I by chance find the list I shall bring it to your table." He said before dashing out.
Huff.
"What a pain, Xylo you come out now." Shifting his eyes to the office pole by his side.
Shum shum
A black shadow begins manifesting out of the pole as if trying to create an offspring, before dropping on the ground to come up again and shape-shift into the form of a slender woman.
"Thought he'd never leave. Ah my back aches. She said sluggishly but showing of a side of a man before shifting into a small man, the size not bigger than the table.
"I want to you find the people on this list. Don't get caught. My senses tell me we have a particularly fine set of students mages this year."
"Ah yes, like you say every year. But I believe this time, maybe they could even surpass the visionaries of the school: The Pillars of Brighton Academy."
Hmph.
"I doubt that, but it's a possibility too now go."
"chill your horses, you still owe me for the last information you heard from me. What's it about a thousand copper coins?"
Raising his fingers to signify.
"It shall be sent this time. If I move that amount of money, I'll have to explain to the brass guild about the influx."
"I'll let you go, for now." Pointing at him before shape shifting out of the room. A thousand copper huh?"
In this world, the currency is coins. It comes in different colours, shapes and sizes. White coins is about 100 dollars in the real world with that being the currency poor people spend. The copper has more circulation than that of silver and gold. Only dukes and first class merchant hold and trade with silver with gold being the rarest. These circulate mostly among the third rate nobles and dukes up to the first class who spend it like drinking water.
