Chaos erupted. Mack raised his gun toward Smith, but Jimmy lunged forward, knocking the weapon aside. The shot echoed, hitting a rusted sign. Sparks flew.
Justin tried to grab Lara, but Ray—using the last of his strength—tackled him onto the tracks. A train horn screamed in the distance.
"Ray!" Lara shouted, but the train thundered past, leaving only silence and twisted metal. Both Ray and Justin were gone.
When the dust settled, Mack was in handcuffs, cursing Jimmy for betraying him. Lara collapsed to her knees, tears mixing with the rain.
Inspector Smith lit a cigarette, his eyes on the dark horizon. "Love, greed, betrayal… they always end the same. In blood."
