The rough cement crack spread throughout the street. It was slight cold and cloudy above. There was a smell of the lingering rain that just passed by. Moisture and humidity hangs in the air.
The smells of rot and decay were unbearable.
Amongst the rustic housing, stood out a house with a clean backyard. In comparison, amongst the others were filled with moss and exotic plants unlike any others.
The door of the house flung open. An elderly stood calmly to greet the afternoon air. The old man was Jaden. Even if he looked as old as someone in their seventies, he was barely forty at this point.
Jaden, at the door walked out with a cane adorn with a skull on the handles. A faint aura of blue darkness spiral in and out of the empty sockets. Something of note was his missing right arm and right leg was replaced with a mechanical hardwood leg.
Jaden's wrinkled face was greeted by the mossy air.
Jaden paused in stone as the past overlap with the present. He can vividly see the fresh memory of this lawm twenty some years ago. A lot of things has happen and many tragic events has happened. Even his current self was but the result of a tragedy, but he was lucky to be alive.
As Jaden walked down the door stairs, many new and old awakeners come and goes. Yes, the world have changed beyond comprehension. Due to the expansion of the universe, many humans who has enough potential can awaken into supernatural powers. Jaden himself is also an awakener, an old one at that.
It was a surreal scene in comparison to the old world Jaden grew up in. Many youngster with good potential carried cold weapons on the regular. Ocasionally, Jaden could spot on or two carrying a magic staff or a magic tome book. Jaden could name a few regulars amongst the crowd, but that is about it.
Twenty years ago, the world suddenly changed. Those with low potential died and became inhumane beings. Meanwhile, dungeon portals increasingly becoming the common theme. Everything completely changed and a small part of Jaden also died along with the river of time. Now he had grown old himself, lonely and bleak.
Jaden was one of few to awaken early on. Without this awakening he would definitely not be able to survive for so long. However, his survival did comes with costs. Old family and friends were the first to leave. Then comes the colleagues he had bonded over the years. Some betrays, some were loyal, and most of everyone he come to know were buried underneath the soil.
Fifteen years ago, Jaden lost his right leg and right arm due to an ambush. That night, he lost everyone that were precious to him. Due to that slight weakness, Jaden has been stuck working as a porter for a good ten years before he finally manages to gain a solid foothold.
By the time Jaden had the strength to avenge his precious family, the perpetrators died while dungeoneering. With no way to vent out his anger, he felt lost and life has become meaningless.
Now, with the advance class holder or better known as Tier Two class. Jaden, has the prestige and power under his commands. None one will doubt the power that he harbor nor will others treat him in the slight.
The strolls didn't last long with in reminiscing memories. Jaden had already reached the stall in front of his house.
"Blackie, you're back." Jaden gently mutter out.
A black wolf hound the height of two meters were laying eye-shut under the hut besides the stall. There were many gnarly wounds on the right and left side of Blackie.
Blackie was a [Monster], though a tamed one under his commands.
Blackie was a pet from one of Jaden long deceased camrade. It happened five years ago when the party he formed entered into a C Rank dungeon. At that time, Jaden was part porter and part magic attacker.
The rewards for clearing a Rank C dungeon have a small chance of rewarding a Promotion Crest to advance a class. Everything went smoothly until the party came to the boss room. The party was wipe and Jaden along with Blackie were the only two to survive. Jaden was fortuitous to obtain to the Promotion Crest. Even then, his life thereafter was not that much easy either.
Jaden used the Promotion Crest and advance his basic class into the advance class. There, he gains the power to wield [Staff] mastery.
Due to Jaden unique advance class, Symbiosis. He was able to form a symbiosis strain and barely made contract with Blackie. Otherwise Blackie would revert back into a wild monster given enough time.
Jaden took out a [Heal Staff] and cast a heal upon Blackie. The wounds swiftly heals at visible speed [HP+19]. Jaden gave out a sigh and patted Blackie with tenderness.
Blackie has been through a lot too. Once Jaden made sure that Blackie was properly patched up, he hobble closer and bend down slightly.
Jaden familiarly reaches for the pouch hanging on the neck of Blackie. There were a couple items Blackie got from dungeoneering for the past few days. From the symbio strain, Jaden could see the surrounding around Blackie and give commands.
These were the few treasures rewarded from clearing a C Rank dungeon. Thinking back, Jaden can only bitterly smile as Blackie can easily clear a C Rank dungeon alone now. That is how powerful Blackie have become after using the symbio strain.
Inside the pouvh was a fistful leather bound bag filled with magic gold coins [500 gold coins], a crystal clear orb [Dreamweaver Wish Orb], and a familiar Promotional Crest.
Jaden used his [Analyst Eyes] Skill upon the orb.
[Dreamweaver Wish Orb][Unique Acessory]
Description: Make a wish and may your wish might come true.
Effect: Magic +1
'A wish orb, huh.' Jaden thought to himself quietly and made a small hopeful wish within his heart. It was unknown what Jaden wishes for only he, himself, knew.
Once the loot has been check, Jaden continues to hop on to the stall counter and begins opening shop. The open sign were flipped and business was back in order.
As simple as that sound, no one dare to underestimate Jaden for his reputation has become famous among the parts of town. Even open air, within this stall no thief would dare to come and [Steal] any of his wares.
Otherwise, Jaden would not mind sending out a [Will-o-Wisp] at their face.
Jaden had done this for five some years after retiring from dungeoneering. The streets are safer than before, the big shot has taken over this safe zone, and he can careless mind his own business.
There is no longer the fear of any monster tide nor were there any lingering dark force on the move. This town was in the hand of a handy governor. That's why Jaden chose to come back and buy this house back from the governor.
Jaden walked towards his favorite recliner chair and sat on it. He watches as people busy themselves. Over time, he quickly become fond of the [Dreamweaver Wish Orb]. It was nice and cool to the touch with lingering mist sipping outward.
While caressing the orb, Jaden found that it was quite soothing. This might become one of his favorite new thing to do on a boring day like this. So, the afternoon passes by like so.
With a yawn, Jaden stood up from his recliner chair and cleaned up his stalls. It was getting late and the sun have already cast the shadows over the horizon.
No customers just like yesterday, but all was good and well. Jaden knew that his discreet stall were not as populated with magic items as others. This is another normal day for him.
Jaden simply put all of the magic items into his wooden chest and carried it like so home.
It was after a simple supper and wash up did Jaden saw that the last bit of the sun finally disappeared altogether. By the time that he got to bed and rest, it was already arguably dark outside. With the flicker of a his finger. The last candle lights blew out and the house was shrouded into darkness.
With just one last check, Jaden check his [Status].
