Chapter 13 - Chapter Thirteen

Gwen took them into a cave and the children marveled as a hidden door revealed a house filled with many things they didn't know.

"Turn around." Gwen told the children

She turned their heads toward a TV screen and turned on the news channel. Victor apologized that they couldn't watch what they want yet. On the news was Vanessa funeral being aired to everyone.

"Hop on, Money hoarder." Gwen smirked pointing to a bench

Victor sighed, "Be gentle, Gorilla."

The news spoke about the sad incident and how officers are investigating tireless to get the find the culprit. It spoke about the other important matters in the town which didn't interest Victor much. They gave the remote to the children to enjoy.

"Gonna tell me what is going on?" Gwen smiled

The wound on his back was like a large spat on his the upper right corner of his back with many of his other faded or fresh scars. Victor didn't mind at least he managed to block the children.

"We were lucky she underestimated us and Gwen's ability as a mole." Victor smiled

Gwen struck down her palm strongly on his wound and Victor bucked over and sucker punched her in the gut. He knew she was inured by the attack as well but it wasn't as serious as his.

"How could you hit a lady?" Gwen coughed

Victor frowned looking around, "What lady?"

"Um..." Violet interrupted "Can we turn around?"

Victor rummaged through Gwen's closet and wore the largest bath gown. His friend gave him a disgusted look as if she wanted to burn the outfit at that moment and he wore a smile of victory.

"You can come over." Victor told

Violet revealed she took the page and the adults didn't know if they should scold or praise her. They brushed away their thoughts painfully and focused on the current situation. Alexander took out the Journal and the page began to glow golden.

It disappeared into light and the book opened itself to golden pages. The read the word that appeared, the sounds of a typewriter echoed and sounds seemed to dull.

Entry:--

I researched a lot about this unknown force: Ether with get interest because I believed this discovery would be a ground-breaking and save many lives or help thousands of people

Ether manifestation differ from individuals but after that its boundless. Flowers can be connected to a vine or tree...sun is made of fire but flames can be cold...ether can affect other ether in positive or negative ways. The route depends on the person comprehension.

I found it fascinating, magical....I was naïve.

They crept in and tried to use my research. After all ether is also a power which can cause disasters beyond imagine such as the Orb of Luna, Widows' Spring to name a few. I fought with everything I had and scattered the treasures and my research but they won't give up

I hope they'll give up but that's my wishful thoughts where everything is rainbows and sunshine.

They won't give up.

I will continue to oppose until they fail or I perish and I wish the future safety.

Alexander heard Gwen swallow with a serious expression similar to the one on Victor's face. The golden pages vanished when the typewriters stopped and a new page had revealed itself.

They all tilted their heads in confusion. The page showed a picture of a snow leopard and giant panda, labels of different parts of the animals were provided and something in bold caught their attention. It read: KZ0741

"Now you have to tell me." Gwen frowned "What have you gotten yourself into?"

Victor sighed, "I need a break. Still have alcohol?"

"Is the sky still blue?" Gwen smiled

The adults took three shots and sighed into their glasses. Gwen gave the children cups of juice to them swallow their problems. Victor hated alcohol since it mess with his senses but sometimes he needed to not think.

"So what's the plan?" Violet wondered

Victor answered, "Anyone who Major in Zoology?"

"I have never been on a farm so scratch that." Gwen snapped

As they drank Victor explained their situation if that is what it was. Gwen was an angry yet reasonable drunk or else Victor would never let her near the children even with his eyes closed.

"I have an idea." Alexander offered

They turned their attention toward him and he pulled out today's newspaper on Gwen's table. He opened it up to the promotions area and showed everyone a advertisement: High Mountains Zoo free excusive free tour! COME TOMORROW AND ENJOY NATURE!

Alexander smiled, "They majored in more than zoology."

"So we have a plan." Victor smiled, "Gwen take the book and learn ether."

Gwen grumbled and took the Journal. She pushed everyone out of her hideout while hiding the dark stains forming on her outfit. Victor let her be and Alexander home first before driving toward the Willows house.

"So...the zoo." Violet beamed

Victor couldn't help but smile, "You're nothing but trouble."

She laughed at expression of fake sadness and looked at her house. She wondered why it was easier taking to the others as compared to her family these days.

"Go on. They won't bite just worry a lot." Victor sighed

Violet frowned, "And they should. Who drinks in front of children?"

"One: you're geniuses so mentally you in you late-teens or early twenties. and two: I had a rough these last few days. I'm human."

Violet gasped," You are?!"

She quickly grabbed her things and bolted out of the car before Victor could talk. Her laughter echoed throughout the area and his car drove away when she reacted the doorway.

"Violet." Ruby's voice echoed "Where were you?"

"Convivence store and met up with some friends." She lied with a smile

Aster paused on his exit from the kitchen and remembered the conversation his sister had about alibis. His mind was in knots and didn't know why he felt uneasy.

Ruby told, "I know it's been hard lately but we'll get through it."

Violet remembered everything that had happened to her lately and the terrible knowledge she had. Her hidden scars from her first battle, Ms. Moor, the helplessness of being weak that forced them to leave her behind and the wounds Victor as well as Gwen tried to hide.

"What do you know about being hard." She blurted out

Her clamped her mother in shock of her words, looked up at her surprised mother and family members in the background.

"I'm sorry. I must be more tired than I thought, I'll go rest." Violet whispered shrinking into herself

Ruby looked at her daughter running away from something she couldn't understand. She looked at the other children helplessly and felt they might be the cause of her sensitive demeanor.

"Please pay attention to her...I hope it's nothing serious." Ruby told

Her husband, Theodore asked, "What?"

"Call me weird, over protective but...I'm worried she might be in danger." Ruby told
