Chapter 14 - Surprise

Jay Jay's POV:

If anyone looked at me right now, they'd think I fought a war last night.

Dark circles? Check. Hair doing its own rebellion? Check. Brain still replaying "Goodnight, Jay" like it's a cursed lullaby? Double check.

I slump into my chair. Ci-n side-eyes me instantly. "Whoa. Someone forgot how to sleep."

"Shut up," I mumble, dropping my bag on the desk.

Felix, of course, zooms in with his phone. "Section E exclusive: Jay Jay, victim of heartbreak, insomnia, or both?"

"I WILL BREAK THAT CAMERA."

Before I can chase him, someone slides into the seat beside me.

Of course. Fry thief himself.

"Morning, Mrs. Watson," Keifer says, way too casually.

My soul screams. My face heats. I grab the nearest book and slam it on the desk. "Don't. Start."

He leans back, smirk already forming. "Start what? I'm just greeting my fiancée. Should I bring fries too?"

Ci-n gasps so loudly the whole class turns. "FIANCÉE?!"

I slap my head disappointed with my existence in this world!

Sir Alvin clears his throat at the front, calm as ever. "Construction is starting in this wing after lunch, so congratulations—early dismissal. But I expect everyone to practice for the upcoming tests!"

Section e? Study for the tests? That's the worst combination I have ever seen! (And some how some of us get 99.98 like the person sitting next to me cheering like he just won the world cup)

The room goes dead quiet for half a second.

Then—boom. Section E erupts like we just got pardoned from prison. Ci-n's standing on his chair yelling, "FREEDOM!" Felix is spinning around with his phone shouting, "EARLY DISMISSAL CONTENT, LET'S GO!" and Edrix is already narrating it like it's a historic moment in history.

Me? I'm sitting there trying to disappear into the desk. I could really use this time to study...

"Lets all go to Jay Jay's house!" Yells C-in

"HUH!- what the flip no!?"

I practically leap out of my seat. "My house is NOT a tourist spot!"

"Perfect!" Felix grins, already aiming his camera at me.

"DELETE THAT FOOTAGE!"

"Field trip!" Edrix booms in his fake documentary voice. "The endangered Jay Jay in her natural habitat—observed by Section E, also endangered!"

What's wrong with these snakes!?

I'm about to collapse when I hear a low chuckle beside me.

Of course. Of course HE'S enjoying this.

Keifer's leaning back in his chair, "You heard them, majority rules."

I whip around, glaring at him. "This is NOT a democracy!"

He shrugs, lips twitching into a smirk. "You could always say no."

"I am saying no!"

His smirk sharpens. "Then I guess I'll just walk you home myself."

My stomach drops. My face heats. My life? Officially over.

And judging by the way Section E is now chanting, "TO JAY JAY'S HOUSE! TO JAY JAY'S HOUSE!" I'm not escaping this one.

"TO JAY JAY'S HOUSE! TO JAY JAY'S HOUSE!"

The chant grows louder, spreading across the room like a disease. Ci-n's pounding the desk like a drum, Felix is narrating like it's a reality show, and Edrix is waving an imaginary flag.

"I HATE ALL OF YOU!" I yell, but of course, that only makes them cheer louder.

Sir Alvin doesn't even blink. He just sips his coffee and mutters, "Don't break anything expensive."

EXCUSE ME SIR?!

Next thing I know, we're herded out of school like a marching band with zero rhythm. Section E is singing, laughing, pushing each other down the hall, and somehow—SOMEHOW—I end up at the center of it all, clutching my bag like it's a life raft.

By the time we pile into cars and bikes and Ci-n's tragic excuse for a skateboard, it's too late. The invasion has begun.

Aries is going to kill me! Oh- I have already planned my funeral speech!

Jasper Jean Fernandez mariano, a great human being (maybe), Kind, amazing and stupid. She made all our lifes so colourful (Pfft like if! This is just for sympathy ok?)

I'll make Ci-n read it!

I groan into my hands as the caravan of chaos turns down my street. Felix is hanging halfway out a car window with his camera, screaming like he's documenting a historic protest. Edrix is narrating like we're marching into battle. Ci-n… well, Ci-n is moments away from breaking his bones on that skateboard.

And me? I'm rehearsing my excuses for Aries, none of which sound convincing.

Then, out of all the noise, I catch it—someone's steady footsteps matching mine.

Keifer.

Hands in his pockets, calm as ever, not joining the yelling or chanting. Just watching me with that infuriating smirk that says he knows exactly how much trouble I'm in.

He leans in, his voice low. "Don't worry, Mrs. Watson. If Aries kills you, I'll give the speech."

I choke on air. "WHAT—"

His grin sharpens. "And I'll make sure they play dramatic music when they lower you into the ground."

Oh. My. God.

Why. Is. This. My. Life.

We reach my street and I'm already mentally drafting my will.

Dear Aries, please don't murder me for bringing home a circus. I didn't want this. I was kidnapped. By my own classmates.

I see Horoscope's car perfectly parked as the whole section E marches in

Too late.

"THIS IS IT!" Ci-n yells, hopping off his skateboard and pointing dramatically at my house like he discovered the new world.

"Section E, ATTACK!" Edrix shouts.

And just like that, they swarm. Shoes off? Nope. Quiet entry? Nope. My beautiful peaceful home? Officially gone.

Felix is filming a room tour like he's on a reality show. Ci-n's already halfway into the fridge. Edrix is narrating into a spoon like it's a mic.

And me? I'm frozen in the doorway, already imagining Aries' glare burning me alive.

"Jay Jay."

The voice. The doom.

I whirl around—Aries is standing at the end of the hall, arms crossed, expression unreadable.

Dead. I'm already dead. Goodbye, world.

"Ah... Aries!" I pretend I just didn't meet my death "surprise!"

I try to smile as I hear Calix in the background explaining everything in the house like if it's a detailed documentary of an ancient palace.

"Explain." One word. Just one.

I open my mouth. Nothing comes out. My excuses? Gone. My funeral speech? Still in draft mode.

Then Keifer steps forward. Calm. Smooth. Like he's been waiting for this.

"They wanted to see Jay Jay was safe." His tone is steady, confident. "I thought it was better to bring them here than have her deal with it alone."

Aries' eyes narrow. At him. Not me.

I seize the moment, grab my bag, and dash into the kitchen like my life depends on it. (Spoiler: it does.)

"CI-N!" I hiss, crouching beside him as he raids the fridge. "Hide me."

He's got pudding stacked in both hands, face stuffed like a squirrel. "From what?"

"FROM MY FUNERAL." I peek around the counter. Aries is still staring Keifer down. Neither of them have blinked in like… forever.

Felix whispers from the corner, camera rolling. "Ladies and gentlemen, the showdown of the century. Two brothers—wait, are they brothers-in-law yet?"

"FELIX, I WILL BREAK THAT CAMERA."

Edrix, of course, is narrating again. "The lion and the wolf circle each other… while the rabbit cowers in the kitchen."

"STOP NARRATING ME!" I throw a spoon at him.

Meanwhile, back in the hall, the silence is heavier than Ci-n's pudding hoard. Keifer's still calm, still steady. Aries is unreadable, but his jaw's tight.

And me? I'm gripping Ci-n's arm whispering, "If I disappear, tell them my last words were 'not the fries.'"
