Yin's POV
The vampire council chamber was exactly as pretentious as always. Vaulted ceilings, marble columns, portraits of ancient vampires who'd been dead for centuries staring down at us with judgment. The council members sat in their high-backed chairs, looking important and annoying in equal measure.
I stood before them with my guards flanking me, trying not to let my irritation show. I'd been summoned for "urgent matters," which usually meant they wanted to waste my time with bureaucratic nonsense.
"Lord Yin." Councilman Aldrich spoke first, his voice echoing in the chamber. "We've called you here regarding the ongoing investigation into Lord Pemberton's murder."
"I assumed as much." I took a seat. It's been a week and all they did was hold stupid meetings that always ended up with me threatening them.
"We've received a tip." He leaned forward, his eyes sharp. "The tip suggests that the person responsible for Lord Pemberton's death currently resides in your mansion."
