"Well, once that's cleared up, everything's fine, right?" Yami asked casually.
"Yes… sorry for taking up your time," Yukinoshita replied politely.
"It's fine. I wasn't busy anyway."
With a light shrug, Yami started toward the door.
But Yuigahama, glancing back, noticed Yukinoshita wasn't moving. "Yukinoshita-san, aren't you coming?"
"This is my clubroom."
Her tone was cool, her eyes already back on the open book in her hands.
"Eh? Clubroom?"
Yuigahama blinked, then glanced around. Aside from a small bookshelf, a table, and a few chairs, the room was practically bare. No decorations, no other members it hardly looked like a club at all.
"The Service Club," Yami said from the doorway, pointing to a small sign on the wall.
"Ah! It really does say that. I didn't even notice… hehe."
Once outside, Yuigahama's expression turned a little red as she leaned closer to Yami's ear. "Don't you think the name 'Service Club' sounds kinda… strange?"
Snap!
The sound of a book closing cut through the air.
"Those who have more help those who have less. People call them volunteers, lending a hand to those in need." Yukinoshita's voice was firm and just a touch sharp.
"That's the purpose of this club. Try not to twist the word 'service' into something indecent."
"!!!"
Yuigahama's cheeks burned. Apparently, she'd been heard. "S-sorry! I get it now."
"The idea's nice," Yami said, tilting his head. "But I've got a question. If the world suddenly changed, and you became one of the weak… how exactly would you help anyone?"
"…Why do you ask that?" Yukinoshita's eyes narrowed slightly.
"Did you see yesterday's news? If what they said about monsters and superpowers is real… could you still keep your ideals, as you are now?"
It sounded hypothetical. But to Yami, it wasn't.
The news had spread everywhere; Yukinoshita had certainly heard it. Still, she was the type to demand proof before believing anything fantastical.
Even so, faced with the question, she couldn't ignore it.
If monsters truly appeared… what could she, as a normal person, actually do?
"…"
For a moment, no answer came.
She realized then her idea of "helping others" only worked when she was the stronger one. It was a kind of arrogance.
The moment someone with real power appeared, her role would vanish.
Am I… just full of myself?
"Clang."
She blinked. The door was shut. Yami had already left.
"…Am I really 'strong'?" she murmured to herself.
Shuchiin Academy Student Council Room
During the break, Hayasaka Ai stepped inside.
"Miss, are you still planning to find him?" she asked.
Kaguya Shinomiya sat at the president's desk, flipping through a file on Yami Tsukishiro. She set it down and rubbed her temples lightly.
"Hayasaka… can someone truly go from ordinary to extraordinary overnight?"
She asked because everything in his school record screamed "normal." Yet she had seen it herself, the day a giant monster advanced step by step, only to be felled in an instant by his power.
"Ordinary? Miss Kaguya, the school's information might not be telling the whole story."
Hayasaka placed her laptop on the desk and turned the screen toward her.
Kaguya's eyes widened. "…This is—"
"Yami Tsukishiro reached financial independence at his age purely on his own skill," Hayasaka explained, her tone calm but edged with genuine respect.
"Three billion…?!" Kaguya stared, wondering if she'd misread the number. This wasn't the fortune of some corporate heir, these were personal assets.
A feat impossible without exceptional talent.
"…I take back what I said earlier," Kaguya admitted.
On paper alone, he was already remarkable excellent looks, a top student, skilled in sports and music, and one of the most admired boys in school.
But compared to what she'd just learned… Kaguya Shinomiya suddenly felt that even she was being left behind.
