The blonde maid walked up to Kaguya Shinomiya with a laptop in her hands.
After hearing her words, Kaguya quickly stepped forward.
Displayed on the screen was a profile picture of Yami Tsukishiro, with a block of text containing personal details next to it.
Then Ai Hayasaka clicked on another window.
It showed the recent news about the monster and the so-called "Superman."
The face of the "Superman" was enlarged and enhanced, bearing a striking resemblance to Yami's.
"Shuchiin Academy, High School Division, Class 2-B… Yami Tsukishiro."
After reading the name aloud, Kaguya's eyes widened slightly. "Hayasaka, he's a student in the same grade as us?"
"Yes." Hayasaka had suspected the connection the moment she looked into it.
It was strange that Kaguya would suddenly ask her to investigate someone until this news made things clear.
"Ai, what day is tomorrow?"
"Monday."
A faint glimmer lit up Kaguya's usually cool wine-red eyes. For the first time in a while, she was genuinely looking forward to tomorrow.
Shuchiin Academy.
It was, without question, the most prestigious school in Tokyo, bar none.
The campus was divided into three main divisions: Junior High, High School, and University.
Each area was strictly separated moving freely between them was practically impossible without permission.
Yami Tsukishiro strolled across the school grounds in his uniform.
Even in something as plain as a school blazer, his well-built physique stood out.
Paired with a handsome yet distinctly masculine face, it was no wonder he was a familiar figure in the high school halls.
As he walked down the corridor, he felt the glances curious, admiring, and a little cautious cast his way.
Yami didn't pay them much mind, heading straight for Class 2-B.
His seat? The back row, by the window...the undisputed throne of anime protagonists everywhere.
He had barely sat down when chatter in the room caught his attention.
"Do you think this video is real?"
"It can't be. 'Monster Superman'? Totally fake just CGI."
"But it's been on the news."
"And? Like there isn't fake news all the time?"
No surprise,they were talking about the hottest trending topic.
"Hey! Yami!"
A light tap landed on his shoulder, paired with a familiar, casual tone.
Without looking back, he replied, "Good morning, Yui."
"Hey Yami! Don't just greet me with your back turned!"
The owner of the voice, a girl with shoulder-length peach-pink hair tied into a side bun, pouted as she came around to face him, planting her hands on her hips in mock annoyance.
Yuigahama Yui a classmate and friend Yami recognized all too well from another "world" he knew.
Her hair shimmered slightly as she moved, and her style gave off a casual gyaru vibe though toned down compared to when he first met her.
"Oh, good morning, Yui."
Repeating himself, Yami gave a small wave.
His cooperation was enough to make Yui huff and drop her schoolbag onto her desk before turning her chair to face him.
She held up her phone like she was showing off evidence.
"Yami, did you see the news yesterday?"
"Yeah. About the monsters," he said with a slight nod.
"Yes, yes! Do you really think there are monsters in this world?"
"There are."
"…Huh?"
The casual certainty in his voice left Yui momentarily speechless.
"…You… you're not a middle schooler, are you?" she muttered after a long pause.
Yami only shrugged. Everything he had said was true.
"The teacher's here!" someone in the class shouted.
Students quickly shuffled back to their seats.
"Da-da-da—" Footsteps echoed from the hallway until a tall figure appeared in the doorway.
Hiratsuka Shizuka, the homeroom teacher of Class 2-B.
She stopped in front of the class but didn't step up to the podium. Her sharp eyes locked on Yami almost instantly.
"Yami Tsukishiro. Come with me."
"Sure."
As if already expecting this, Yami stood up calmly and followed her out of the classroom.
