"Well, why don't you just shut the f-ck up, Regina?" I snapped, my patience completely gone, already irritated beyond reason by the woman sobbing dramatically on the witness stand. The sound was like nails on a chalkboard, a performance designed to manipulate, and I wasn't having it.
"Order!" the clerk decreed, his voice booming through the stifling courtroom.
The judge leaned forward over his bench, his nostrils flaring as he stared directly at me, his gaze cold and unwavering. "This is your final warning to maintain your composure, Your Majesty," he added sternly, his tone leaving no room for argument.
I was forced to slump back into my chair, my body heaving with suppressed rage. I shoved my clenched fist against my mouth, biting down on my knuckles to hold back the torrent of venomous words fighting to get out. One more outburst, and I would ruin any shot I had at ending this farce.
