Chapter 20 - CHAPTER 20 :- The Servant's Grievance

In the morning, inside Kamini's palace, a kid was cutting vegetables with a knife. That boy was none other than Abhay. He was trying to peel a potato with a sharp knife.

Ouch!

While peeling the potato, Abhay accidentally cut his finger, and a small spray of blood came out. Abhay was such a noob at cutting vegetables that he already had many cut marks on his fingers from the sharp blade.

Right behind him, Chhaya was soaking and cleaning rice in a big pot. Seeing him cut his finger again, she said, "Abhay, be a little careful or you'll lose your hand. Have you ever even peeled a potato in your life?"

Stopping the bleeding from his finger, Abhay said, "I don't remember the last time I cut a vegetable. But I will definitely learn how to peel a potato."

Chhaya looked at him with pity and said, "It's okay, no problem. You will learn."

But in her mind, she felt dissatisfied. 'Why did the mistress make this unknown kid a servant in our house? Plus he is weak and fragile, and on top of that, he lost his memory. What am I supposed to do now?'

Suddenly, Abhay saw a glowing blue light in front of his eyes.

Seeing this, Abhay's face fell. He felt sad in his heart and thought, 'Is this girl really just feeling pity and dissatisfaction looking at me? Oh god, what do I do?'

After soaking the rice, Chhaya put the big pot of water on the stove nearby. Then she took her knife and started cutting eggplants.

While Abhay was peeling a single potato, he heard loud chopping sounds from behind. Chhaya was cutting the pile of eggplants at the speed of a machine. She finished the whole pile in just a few seconds.

Seeing this, the half-peeled potato fell from Abhay's hands and his mouth was left wide open.

Now Abhay understood why Chhaya was feeling dissatisfied with him.

Feeling depressed, Abhay picked up his half-peeled potato, washed it, and started peeling it again. He thought in his mind, 'What a difficult life. In this cultivation world, everyone is so strong and insanely fast. And look at me, I've only peeled 3 or 4 potatoes from the pile, and Chhaya cut that mountain of eggplants like it was a normal thing.'

In the afternoon, Abhay and Mridula were busy cleaning the palace. Abhay was carefully cleaning the floor with a mop. Then Mridula handed him a cleaning cloth and said, "Abhay, do one thing. Take this cloth and go clean all the furniture in the right room on the top floor properly."

Abhay looked at her and asked, "What? You are saying I should leave this mop and go clean the furniture upstairs?"

Mridula looked at him for a moment and said, "Yes, you heard me right. Take this cloth and go. I will do the mopping."

Abhay hesitated, "But...?"

Stopping him, Mridula said, "Do you want to clean this huge palace at the speed of a turtle?"

Abhay panicked a bit and said, "No."

Mridula said, "Good, then go and clean it properly."

Abhay asked, "But how will you clean such a big palace all by yourself?"

Mridula just waved her hand in the air and called the mop towards her. The mop in Abhay's hand flew straight into Mridula's hand.

Abhay was shocked seeing this. "How did you take the mop from my hands into yours without even touching it?"

Mridula told him, "If you want to learn all this, you have to do cultivation. Only then you can learn these things. Now take this cloth and go straight to the top floor."

Mridula gave the cloth to Abhay and sent him up. Abhay reached the top floor. From there, he looked down. Mridula was about to start working with the mop in one hand. Abhay was still doubting in his mind, 'How is Mridula going to mop?'

Right then, Mridula gathered water from nearby into her empty hand and threw it on the floor, spreading it. She held the mop like a spear in her other hand and threw it, sliding it hard against the floor.

The mop dragged across the floor and reached the very end of the palace hallway. Just when the mop was about to hit the wall, Mridula immediately called it back with a hand gesture, and it flew right back into her palm. Throwing the mop so hard and calling it back created strong gusts of wind in the hallway, which immediately dried the wet floor.

Seeing this way of cleaning, Abhay's mind was blown and his eyes almost popped out. He said to himself, "Does anyone clean like this? Now I understand how this big palace gets cleaned so fast!"

In the late evening, when the sun was going to set in a few hours, Abhay was in the backyard garden giving water to the flowers and plants. He was sprinkling water peacefully when Head Maid Tamash came into the garden.

She said, "Come on Abhay, I have an easier job for you. Leave this garden work to me and go to the market with Chhaya."

Abhay replied, "Okay Head Maid, I am going."

Abhay left the garden to go towards the palace. He looked back at Tamash and thought, 'Now let's see what power Head Maid Tamash is going to use to water the plants.'

Tamash went to the water fountain in the middle of the garden and stood there. Abhay gulped. 'Will the Head Maid just rip out the whole water fountain like a gorilla to water the plants?'

But the Head Maid didn't pull the fountain. Instead, she spread her arms forward and got into a fighting stance.

Abhay was shocked. 'Is the Head Maid going to fight this water fountain?'

But then Abhay's mouth was left wide open. Tamash pulled the water out of the fountain with a hand gesture and sent it straight up into the sky using her palms. Tamash looked like she was doing a Bharatnatyam dance. Her hand movements looked just like that dance, and she didn't even move a single step from her place.

〔Note :- Bharatanatyam is one of the oldest and most prominent classical dance forms of India, originating over 2,000 years ago in the temples of Tamil Nadu.Bharatanatyam is a physical manifestation of emotion, rhythm, and devotion. It was traditionally performed as a solo dance by women and men as a form of worship 〕

With every strike of her palms, she threw exactly the right amount of water that each plant needed. All the water she threw in the air started falling down like rain. The water drops fell exactly on the flowers and plants that needed water, and not a single drop fell where it wasn't needed. Because of this, Tamash didn't even get wet from the rain she made.

Abhay thought in his mind, 'Everyone here is an expert at their jobs.'

Abhay went inside the palace and saw Chhaya near the exit. She was waiting for him with a bag.

Abhay went to her, and Chhaya said, "Let's go, we are already late. We have to quickly buy fresh vegetables and return to our palace."

Agreeing with her, Abhay said, "Okay, let's go."

Chhaya handed the bag to Abhay and walked ahead. Abhay held the bag and started following her.

After Abhay and Chhaya went out of the palace, Tamash and Mridula saw them leaving from near the exit.

Tamash said to Mridula, "It's been a month since this boy came here. Do you think he is a spy?"

Mridula replied, "Head Maid Tamash, I don't think Abhay is a spy. Even though he is slow at every job, one thing is for sure, this boy is hardworking."

Tamash said, "I don't know what Mistress Kamini saw in this boy and why she gave shelter to a stranger in her house. But still, if he tries to do anything suspicious or tries to harm Mistress Kamini, his death is guaranteed."

Mridula nodded. "You are right, Head Maid. Who knows what is going on in Mistress Kamini's mind?"

Then Tamash said, "Come let's go, we still have a lot of work to do right now."

"Okay Head Maid," Mridula agreed.

Far away, while going to the market with Chhaya, Abhay suddenly felt a cold shiver in his body. He looked at the blue glowing screen in front of him and saw several notifications pop up.

Holding his head, Abhay thought in his mind, 'Who knows what these two are thinking about me that my body is shivering lightly. I remember I haven't even done anything wrong yet, but still...'

Seeing Abhay troubled, Chhaya asked, "What happened Abhay? Why are you holding your head, what are you thinking?"

Abhay forced a smile and said to Chhaya, "Nothing Chhaya, my head is just hurting a little bit."

Chhaya then told him, "Don't worry too much. I will buy you some medicine that will make your headache disappear instantly."

"Thank you," Abhay said, agreeing with her. "Let's go buy the vegetables quickly now and return to the palace fast. Okay?"

Chhaya smiled. "Okay. Let's go."
