Stepping into her office, Emily sat stiffly at her desk. It felt as though she was burning from the inside out, her face heated up as her mind replayed the embarrassing moment in the elevator.
His strong grip. His teasing voice. The way every executive had stared at them with veiled curiosity.
Ugh, God.
She buried her face in her hands and groaned under her breath.
The hours ticked by yet the memory refused to fade. No matter how hard she tried to shake it off, it clung to her like a stubborn shadow—gnawing at her, invading her thoughts until she could hardly focus on work.
She needed a distraction. Anything at all.
With no other option, she pulled out her phone, intending to scroll through social media only to remember it was the new one.
With an exasperated sigh, she swapped her SIM card back into her old device and plugged the new one in to charge.
