Chapter 8 - Ch-8, Learning the basics

Room No. 15C

While I was recalling what I had learned so far and was thinking about what to do next, there was a sound.

Knock

Knock

"Come in," I said. Miss Khushi entered.

In the Elites, there's a Captain, and below him are three departments: the Combat Department, the Research Department, and the Adventure Department. The head of a department is called Miss or Master, and Khushi is the head of the Combat Department.

"Get ready. From today, you will be starting your training with dp," she said.

As the head of the Combat Department, she had been training me for the last three matras to enhance my reflexes and prepare my body for dp. Adapting myself to the four-hand style of the Eternians was also part of the reason.

We left the room and went straight to the training ground. Many other students from the Combat Department were already there. Some were diviners learning to control their newly gained powers. Some experienced diviners were sparring with each other, while those who weren't diviners practiced hand-to-hand combat.

I, on the other hand, simply followed Miss Khushi. She led me near a tree and said, "Here, sit under the tree."

After I sat down, she instructed, "Try meditating. Close your eyes and focus on your breathing. Breathe slowly and feel every part of your body."

I did as she said. I focused on my feet, felt a small sensation there, and then slowly shifted my awareness upward. First my feet, then my shins, thighs, core, chest, left arm, right arm, neck, lips, eyes, and finally my brain.

"Now, try to feel the dp inside your head. Every Eternian is born with the natural ability to absorb dp from the environment. You should be able to sense it," she said as she placed one of her hands on my shoulder.

"I will push some dp into you. Try to channel it throughout your body, the same way you just focused on it."

At first, I sensed the dp inside my head and tried to channel it throughout my body. Starting with my legs, I felt a slight tickling sensation that quickly vanished, but it triggered another feeling. It was as though I could fully sense my legs—the blood flow, the contact with the ground, even the touch of my clothes. It was like… I had become completely aware of them.

It was the same with my hands and the rest of my body. But when I channeled dp into my ears, something changed. Though I was sitting by a tree far from the others, I could suddenly hear everything—strikes landing, bodies falling, blades clashing, laughter, even cries of pain.

I wanted to try more. I opened my eyes and poured dp into them. Suddenly, my vision sharpened. I could see every blade of grass in front of me. I turned my gaze toward the sparring students and poured in more dp—now I could even make out the color of their eyes from this distance. It felt like switching a video from 144p to 4K HD.

I stood up, and the difference was clear. Every movement felt smoother, sharper. Khushi removed her hand, and as she did, the sensation of channeling dp slowly faded.

Looking at my surprised and excited face, she understood that I had succeeded.

"It seems like you've learned to channel dp. Now, return to your room and keep practicing the meditation exercise you just did. Proper control of dp will take time and practice," she said.

I bowed and replied, "Thank you for your time, Miss Khushi." No matter how rude or arrogant she could be, at the end of the day, she was my senior.
