Chapter 27 - THE AFTERMATH

What the hell was that? This was the reaction of every person who watched the explosion.

The shards of the chain flew all over the stadium in different directions.

No one could have survived that from point-blank range.

I closed my eyes as I saw Lord Namor's face.

Half of his face was hanging from his bones—the part that had been in the direct line of the blast.

Half of his teeth were blown away, and the sand around that part of the stadium had tasted his blood.

As if in a state of panic, the chakra hovering in the sky separated again into its seven forms.

The chakras flew straight toward Araegon.

Araegon swung the chain in a circular loop, starting to deflect and defend against all of the chakras at once.

The sounds of metal crashing into metal echoed sharply as the chakras were knocked away, bouncing back in the direction they came from.

Lord Namor, on the other side, had lost his mobility completely. With half of his face blown away, that trauma likely damaged the parts of his brain responsible for motor function.

The duel was over. I knew that, and everyone else knew that; it was just a matter of time.

The shards of the chain that had caused the huge blast came to life once more, dividing into separate pieces now—actually three chains total: one in the hands of Araegon, and two others that had been used for the trap.

Those two chains slithered to life, wrapping tightly around the arms of Lord Namor.

The chains dragged Namor down into the sand. He showed no signs of resistance, simply sitting heavily in the dirt.

He had become like a little boy, blindly obeying every movement of the chains.

Araegon, knowing full well that his opponent was in no condition to fight, approached him slowly.

He still maintained a cautious distance from Namor, wary that the giant might be pulling a trick.

"I am sorry, Lord Namor. I'm not sorry because I am going to kill you, but I guess I'm sorry because, in the state you're in, you might not even realize what death is."

"I am sorry for what I made of you."

With a flick of his wrist, the chain drove straight through Lord Namor's heart.

The second trial was completed.
