Ash patted Scyther. He had just defeated several Ninjutsu students, finally acquiring enough exchange points. This was why he had previously decided to swap Scyther in, preparing for its evolution.
"System, exchange for a Metal Coat!"
This System-produced Metal Coat was truly expensive. After exchanging for a Light Ball, Ash had saved up for this long to accumulate enough exchange points. But good items were good items; no matter the cost, it was worth it!
Evolve, Scyther!
The System-produced Metal Coat, the moment it touched Scyther, slowly merged into its body. With that, a dazzling light of evolution began to radiate!
"Ash, you're evolving Scyther?" The Headmaster watched the scene before him, incredulous. The moment of a Pokémon's evolution, no matter how many times one saw it, was always so moving!
Within the light of evolution, a metallic coating slowly covered Scyther's body, forming armor. Simultaneously, a mysterious power reshaped its body, especially its twin blades, which gradually transformed into a pair of enormous pincers!
Scyther's evolution, the red flash, Scizor!
Boom!
The light shattered, and Scizor appeared before Ash and the ninja students present!
"Chya!"
Scizor raised its new pair of massive pincers, examining them. They bore eye-like patterns that seemed to stare, possessing a strong intimidating presence. It clanged its pincers a few times, clearly very satisfied with its new, hardened body.
Name: Scizor (♂)
Type: Bug/Steel
Ability: Light Metal
Bond Value: 240/250
Moves: Quick Attack, Bullet Punch, Metal Claw, Swords Dance, Fury Cutter, Whirlwind Slash, Air Slash, Agility, Flash Cannon...
Its bond value instantly jumped to 240, and even its compatibility, after evolution, was only 5 points away from reaching its peak. Crucially, the System-produced Metal Coat had bestowed Scizor with the Light Metal ability, which would halve Scizor's weight. After evolving, Scizor, now clad in metal armor, had more than doubled its weight compared to when it was Scyther. With Light Metal reducing its weight by half, it returned to the same level as Scyther. This would make Scyther, already proficient in speed, even more agile! Only the last 5 points of compatibility remained!
"Scizor is so cool!" Mei ran to Scizor's side, hugging its pincers and clinging to its legs, admiring it thoroughly from all angles.
"Headmaster, I want to test Scizor's battle prowess. Interested in a match?" Currently, the strongest here was, of course, the Headmaster.
"Alright!" The Headmaster rarely engaged in battles personally anymore. Nowadays, the students were taught by various class instructors, with only a select few, like Aya, receiving personal guidance from the Headmaster. So, the students immediately became excited, quickly clearing the battle arena. They looked at Ash incredulously; his earlier arrogance was clearly feigned, and yet he was so highly regarded by the Headmaster.
"Ash, my old friend here hasn't had a proper battle in a long time!" The Headmaster's chosen Pokémon this time was clearly not that Ariados.
"It's my honor!" Indeed, Ash's arrogance was an act!
"Go, big brother! Go, Scizor!" Mei cheered from beside Aya.
The Headmaster threw out his Poké Ball. "Let's go, Beedrill!"
The Johto region had many forests, and Beedrill could be said to be the most common Bug-type Pokémon there. Large swarms would often appear, causing quite a bit of trouble for traveling trainers. However, the Headmaster's Beedrill looked entirely different. It held its twin stingers casually, yet its aura steadily intensified. This was a battle-hardened Beedrill with exceptionally high combat power!
"The opponent isn't simple; we can't be careless!" In terms of typing, Scizor held a decisive advantage. With its Steel typing, it couldn't be poisoned, and Poison-type moves were ineffective against it.
Scizor: 241/251
Even before the battle began, its bond value and compatibility each increased by 1 point. What a bonus!
"The Headmaster's Beedrill is incredibly strong! It's so touching to see the Headmaster send out Beedrill again!" Aya clearly knew the power of this Beedrill.
"Beedrill, use Focus Energy!" Mysterious energy began to gather around Beedrill. This would sharpen its mental focus, allowing its twin stingers to more easily hit vital points!
"Focus Energy, huh?" Ash murmured. "Then we'll use Swords Dance!" Swords Dance increased attack power! After the status boosts, the battle officially began!
"Beedrill, after Shadow Clone, use Twin Stingers!" The Headmaster's command was given. Beedrill's figure suddenly vanished, then it surrounded Scizor. Its twin stingers rose, glinting with a dangerous, cold light.
Clang!
Ash didn't give a command. Scizor was hit, immediately staggering back several steps. Those twin stingers had precisely struck the connecting point on Scizor's abdomen! A critical hit!
"Even a critical hit shouldn't have such power!" A blue light flashed around Ash as his Aura enveloped Scizor. Suddenly, his eyes lit up, and he looked up at Beedrill. "Could it be the Sniper ability?"
The Sniper ability drastically increased the damage of critical hits again! In other words, this was a true ninja, an assassin, who could easily seize an opportunity for a one-hit knockout!
"Hmph, so what if it has Sniper?" Ash clenched his fist. Such a battle was a rare treat! Meeting an opponent like this made traveling truly wonderful!
"Scizor, Agility, Quick Attack!"
Its figure flashed past; Ash's Red Flash was born in this moment!
Beedrill was sent flying but stabilized itself with beating wings. The stinger on its tail suddenly glowed.
Pin Missile!
Numerous poisonous needles shot from different directions towards Scizor!
Scizor 245/252
Thump-thump!
Ash heard that familiar heartbeat again—his, and Scizor's! Only the last 3 points of compatibility remained! This was the first time both sides were gaining at the same time. "Battle, Scizor, Shadow Clone!" This time, it was Scizor's turn to surround Beedrill. It casually held its twin pincers, and the stance for Iai Slash already appeared!
"Beedrill, use Pin Missile again!" Large numbers of needles dispersed the Shadow Clones one by one, but Scizor, enduring the needles, landed an Iai Slash on Beedrill!
"The resistance of Steel-type Pokémon is truly impressive!" The Headmaster looked at Beedrill, his desire to teach Ninjutsu to Ash's Scizor growing stronger.
"Headmaster, do you still have time to talk?" As soon as Ash's words fell, Scizor had already pursued Beedrill. Its massive pincers gleamed with a metallic luster! A Steel-type move, Flash Cannon!
