Chapter 6 - Questions Beyond the Veil of the Unknown

"The Eternal Sacrificer, and as for you, it is I." The words of the entity with the terrifying smile echoed in the outer space, as it looked at Xiao Ping and his fear-stricken, shocked face with amusement.

Xiao Ping's gaze was fixed on that mask with empty eyes. He saw it sometimes laugh and sometimes smile. Its movements were horrifying, but upon hearing those words from it, he couldn't help but feel annoyed, pushing all fear away from his mind for now, clenching his jaw before saying in a clear voice: "Entity!Don't try to play tricks on me, just say who you are, without any ambiguity or repeating the same previous words, that you are me!"

"..." The entity remained silent and gave no reaction to Xiao Ping's words.

But Xiao Ping felt grateful to the entity for what it had done previously, which made him throw all his resentment towards it into a pit and bury it. So he didn't complain.

However, Xiao Ping noticed that whenever he asked that entity who it was, it wouldn't answer, but would instead let out demonic laughs before saying, in an ambiguous way, that Xiao Ping "is" the entity itself. So this time, he insisted on asking about that mysterious book.

Seeing that the entity still hadn't given any reaction, he decided to change his question.

"Entity, I want to ask you some questions about something! Are you prepared to answer my question? Don't worry, I won't ask you who you are or the like." Xiao Ping declared his sincere desire to the entity, hoping it would accept and answer some of the questions that had been puzzling him about the mysterious world he had been transported to.

"You want me to answer your questions? Of course, no problem. You can ask anything, although I was already prepared to tell you about some things beforehand, and coincidentally, the Sacrificer's book was among the things I was going to tell you about." The entity finally showed a wide, terrifying smile on its giant mouth, but Xiao Ping was relieved by this.

"However, do you think the situation is appropriate? You know what I mean, right?" Xiao Ping sighed while looking at the giant mask, but he didn't know why he felt that this entity was familiar to him.

"Oh, you are an interesting human! You're right, the situation here is not appropriate for a simple discussion." The smile disappeared and was replaced by a stern attitude once again.

Xiao Ping could only focus on the two giant holes present on the giant mask; they were truly enormous, perhaps large enough to accommodate a few giant stars.

But at that moment, Xiao Ping felt the place changing, so he closed his eyes and felt himself sitting on something solid. When he opened his eyes, the lights around him were reflected.

There was a round table about one and a half meters long, on it were some blood-red colored candles. When lit, they didn't appear to be on the verge of melting away but remained standing and burning as if they would stay like that forever. In the center was a book with a black cover, upon which was a phrase glowing in gold.

There was a stone chair in front of him, at least three meters high, with armrests of even edges. There were some cracks on it pulsing with bloody and dark energy, as if wanting to tear through the void. Xiao Ping turned behind him and saw that his chair was of the same size and design, but there were strange inscriptions on it that he couldn't read.

"Boy, focus here now."

Xiao Ping heard those words, and when he looked forward again, he saw that there was a person sitting on the stone chair, their cheek leaning on their hand, while their feet were on the round table, looking at Xiao Ping with a demonic smile.

At that moment, Xiao Ping was slightly shocked before he smiled and laughed: "Hahahahahaha, what an entertaining entity you are." Xiao Ping laughed for the first time in this mysterious world, but it wasn't a laugh of mockery or helplessness; it was a laugh carrying clear amusement at what he saw.

The entity had short black hair with some golden strands at the front of its hair. Its eyes were bright green, but because its hair covered the right part of its face, only one eye was visible. Its face was somewhat handsome.

It was wearing a black coat with a long-sleeved white shirt underneath, and also rather iron-black trousers.

"Hehehehehe, you haven't seen anything yet, human!" Upon hearing Xiao Ping's laughs, it could only respond with a demonic laugh and some boastfulness.

The entity had copied everything about Xiao Ping—his clothes, his body, and his manner of speech as well. There was now another Xiao Ping.

Even Xiao Ping himself didn't know how to distinguish between himself and the entity, but he didn't care. Instead, he directed his gaze towards the book on the table.

Xiao Ping looked with his green eye at that book with gazes carrying fear, shock, and gratitude at the same time.

Xiao Ping opened his mouth to say something when he heard the entity utter it before him:

"You want to know what this book is, don't you?!" It paused for a moment before saying with a serious expression: "You are not ready yet to know about this book, but I will tell you something, or as you humans say: advice! Yes, I will give you advice. Make sure not to tell anyone about this book, and make sure to defend it, even if it costs you your life!" The entity's tone showed an expression of something serious related to this book.

Xiao Ping was slightly shocked that the entity anticipated his question, but he was greatly shocked and sensed danger from its talk about the book. Even a very powerful entity felt fear towards this book.

Seeing this, Xiao Ping's expressions also turned serious before he said: "What do you mean I'm not ready to know about this book?Do you want me to keep waiting and place my neck under the executioner's blade, while some person or thing comes to pass judgment to behead me for something I don't even know what it is!" Xiao Ping rose from the stone chair and slammed his hand forcefully on the table.

But nothing happened; the table didn't even make a sound from the blow, and the blood-red candles only flickered slightly before returning to normal!

"Human! I advise you to return to your seat calmly and not think about this book for now. This is only for your own good. Don't expect me to tell you; I won't tell you anything unless you become stronger in the future to protect this book!" The entity sighed coolly and spoke in an indifferent voice.

Xiao Ping gritted his teeth before slowly returning to the seat, then nodded and apologized to the entity for his rude behavior.

"At least you know when to apologize!" The entity praised Xiao Ping's action.

It couldn't believe that stubborn human, who had been tortured by it previously, would bow and apologize to his tormentor. This action made Xiao Ping rise a degree in the entity's eyes.

"Now, let's continue with your specific questions!" The entity spoke again in an indifferent voice.

"I want to know what you mean by the future! And also to know who transported me to this world." Xiao Ping spoke while slowly leaning his back against the stone chair.

"I can answer the first question, but regarding your question about who transported you here, you must find out for yourself!" The entity replied while pulling its feet off the table.

"Alright, that's not a problem." Xiao Ping nodded slowly before adding: "And also regarding the second question, can I change it!" Xiao Ping hoped to ask about this world instead.

"You are free with your questions. I am only here to answer what I ought to tell you, so it's not a problem!" The entity declared its words while raising its hands.

"Hmm, then I will be rude..." Xiao Ping responded to the entity's declaration with a narrowed green eye.
