Chapter 12 - One Piece: Legend-Chapter 12: Well Done, Buggy, Don't Lose Face

As if to prove Aus's words, the next second a world-shaking storm brewed on the horizon!

"What the hell!?"

Faced with this natural force, even the New World overlord known for world-ending destruction had to back down.

Countless ships controlled by the Float-Float Fruit got swept away by storm and tsunami. Golden Lion himself, master of the skies, was no exception.

Swept into the tsunami, powerless in that instant as a ship's rudder came flying...

"Set sail, everyone!!!"

The Oro Jackson made from Treasure Tree Adam was still rock-solid. Plus with a crew of non-Devil Fruit powerhouses leading the charge, even a tsunami couldn't stop the Roger Pirates!

This scene left Buggy and Shanks completely stunned.

"Hey—"

Buggy suddenly burst through the kitchen door. The poor door, already beaten to hell, looked ready to collapse.

"Aus!"

Buggy rushed in with pure excitement, voice full of disbelief and hype, face even turning red: "Is what you said true? Aus, was that storm that saved us really because of my luck?"

Aus was hiding in the kitchen sneaking food—meat in left hand, milk bucket in right, frantically stuffing his face to refuel. A mountain of food disappeared into his stomach without his belly showing any bulge.

His Observation Haki had already sensed Buggy coming, so nothing surprising there. Just found it hilarious that Buggy actually bought it.

Buggy might genuinely have Conqueror's Luck.

How else could he become a Warlord or even Four Emperor with such trash-tier strength?

But Aus figured this battle's safe escape probably wasn't because of that—should be Captain Roger's protagonist luck doing the heavy lifting.

Even if Buggy contributed, it was probably just backup.

Though that's what he thought, Aus still had emotional intelligence. Buggy was one of his few real friends after all.

"Obviously, Buggy. With your level of strength, you still made it onto this ship and stayed alive through all these massive battles. Doesn't that say everything?"

Aus said seriously to Buggy.

But Buggy really was a stand-up guy. He still remembered clearly what he'd said before—

That line:

"Don't your lives cry out?"

That spirit—even with weak-ass strength, he deserved to be called a great pirate!!!

Hearing this, Buggy went quiet for a moment.

He wasn't sure if Aus was actually complimenting him.

But after thinking it over,

He chose to trust Aus!

Sure, sometimes he was harsh and annoying, but Buggy felt he knew Aus's character well.

At least he'd never bullshit him. When danger came, Aus was usually the one helping him out.

Not like Shanks, who'd trick him into working with fake treasure maps. They'd fought plenty over that—though Buggy lost every damn time.

Thinking about this made him happy, couldn't help grinning, so he just sat down to slack off with Aus.

On the whole ship, he actually preferred hanging with Aus most.

Shanks was too damn annoying, while other crew members focused more on the talented Aus and Shanks, making him want to give up his dreams sometimes.

Only Aus talked nice and didn't piss him off.

Sure, he'd occasionally ask for help with stuff, but he'd always actually give him captured treasure maps and loot, never thought he was useless, gave him props.

Honestly, in Buggy's eyes, Aus was his best friend.

"By the way, besides juice, you really love drinking milk, Aus."

Buggy rubbed his red nose.

He tried the milk bucket—just found it kinda sweet with nothing special, so he asked Aus curiously.

"Huh? This stuff... actually I don't really like drinking it."

"Then why do you chug so much?" Buggy didn't buy it.

"Because drinking milk makes you grow taller!"

Aus grinned.

"I want to hit three meters tall. Otherwise fighting sea monsters while having to look up at them would be embarrassing as hell~"

"That's the reason?"

"Hell yeah. Actually, orange juice is my favorite." Aus clinked with Buggy, kept chugging away.

"Then..."

Buggy clenched his fists like he'd made some big decision, suddenly jumped up excited, looking at the confused Aus: "Aus, when I become a great pirate, I'll definitely buy you the world's best orange juice!"

Saying this, Buggy's face went red with embarrassment, but he tried staying cool, nervously watching Aus.

"Hahaha, sounds good, Buggy. You'll definitely become someone who shocks the seas. When I'm washed up, I'll come work for you."

Aus laughed his ass off, but Buggy obviously took it seriously, agreeing immediately.

"Don't worry, Aus. My vice-captain spot's always yours!"

Though Buggy said this,

Thinking about Aus and Shanks's strength made him feel uncertain. These two were just too damn promising.

Dreams and shit...

Did he really deserve to have them...

The two lounged around eating and chatting.

Time flew until evening.

Until the ship's cook realized something was wrong and charged in gritting his teeth with a mop, finally dragging out these two slackers.

But looking at Aus, who'd burped and looked unchanged, next to Buggy who'd somehow eaten himself into a ball, he was speechless.

Aus's monster body digested everything instantly, but Buggy—why'd you join in when you can't process it?

No choice—Aus had to personally carry him back to his room first.

After saying bye to Buggy, Aus finally had time to hit his dorm for a shower, washing off the blood-stained grime from battle.

But once he relaxed, his head felt itchy.

Really wanted to let loose with his Conqueror's Haki and mess around.

When he first learned Moon Walk, he'd run around in the sky every day, totally enjoying the flying experience.

Though he eventually got a bump on his head from annoyed Uncle Gaban because the "puff puff" sounds of air-stepping got too frequent.

Considering it was night, randomly blasting Conqueror's Haki now would probably get him jumped, so Aus gave up.

But looking at himself in the mirror—his lightly scarred body packed with explosive power.

"Clang—"

Black Armament Haki instantly covered his arm, faintly reflecting the room's light.

"When we hit Wano Country, I'll learn Ryuo. Then finally coating..."

Aus admired his overwhelming power while planning step-by-step how to go from Yonko Commander strength to Admiral level, then Emperor level, then King...

These days, thanks to his monster physique, regular training could barely keep boosting his strength rapidly—the effect was basically nothing.

What was left required growing older and developing, plus advanced Haki training from stronger people to maintain this crazy progress speed.

But if he had to say, there was actually another way to increase strength...

Aus looked toward the small treasure chest under his bed.
