"What is this!?"
Tsunade's eyebrows shot up as she looked at the intelligence scroll Uchiha Yoru handed her. It felt eerily familiar; a similar scroll had almost gotten Nawaki killed the last time.
Her expression became solemn.
After offering the scroll, Uchiha Yoru's face also became serious.
"Captain Tsunade, after I returned from the Naka Shrine, Elder Setsuna secretly gave me this intelligence scroll."
Tsunade opened the scroll, and a look of fury immediately appeared on her face. When she finished reading it, she angrily slammed her fist on the table.
CRACK!
The table broke!
"Damn it!"
Tsunade's bright brown eyes were filled with rage. They actually dare to scheme against me!
The content of the intelligence was simple: Uchiha Yoru had written some information about the future.
The gist of it was that Nawaki's death had left Tsunade emotionally vulnerable, making it the perfect opportunity to exploit her. It also mentioned the medical report Tsunade was preparing to present at the jonin meeting.
Nawaki's death would only strengthen Tsunade's resolve on this point.
This intelligence was clearly based on an analysis of Tsunade's personality, and the person who put this plan together knew her very well.
The medical report she was preparing was not something many people knew about, which was why Tsunade was so furious.
Uchiha Yoru looked at the angry Tsunade and his expression became solemn. He lowered his head and said in a deep voice:
"Captain Tsunade, Elder Setsuna is not in good health. I observed that he probably only has two or three years left to live."
The previous intelligence could have been dismissed as a fake with ill intentions, but Nawaki's death had confirmed its authenticity.
So what about this intelligence?
Therefore, Uchiha Yoru feigned a look of solemnity. First, he mentioned that the old man wouldn't be alive for much longer, then he began to persuade Tsunade.
"Captain Tsunade, in times of war, although this intelligence was uncovered by Elder Setsuna, it might not be from an enemy village."
At this point, Uchiha Yoru's expression became even more resolute, as if he himself was beginning to believe his own words.
"Captain Tsunade, I believe this is a plan from an enemy village's spy, trying to provoke a conflict between the Senju clan and the village."
Tsunade scoffed at this definitive statement, where he was completely convinced it was a spy's plan.
"Kid, no wonder the Uchiha clan told you to get close to Kushina. It must have been influenced by this intelligence."
Without any hesitation, Tsunade threw the intelligence scroll at him with a cold laugh.
Uchiha Yoru fumbled to catch it. When he saw the fabricated intelligence, he widened his eyes and feigned a look of shock.
"This! This!"
The content of the intelligence was essentially the same as the mission he had honestly confessed to before; it was all about getting close to a target, but the targets were different.
Uchiha Yoru was ordered by his clan to get close to Kushina Uzumaki, the future Nine-Tails jinchuriki.
This intelligence, however, was about someone trying to take the opportunity to get close to Tsunade, the princess of the Senju clan of the Land of Fire.
They were two sides of the same coin!
"What's wrong, kid? Why aren't you saying anything?"
Tsunade looked at the kid with a cold laugh, and Uchiha Yoru looked more and more awkward as he lowered his head.
Seeing this, Tsunade scoffed in her heart. Kid, where did your passionate righteousness go? Didn't you love to talk?
You even made me apologize. This kid is really out of control!
But!
Tsunade suddenly had a change of heart. People in different positions naturally had different perspectives. She saw the bigger picture. This Uchiha Elder probably had a deeply buried intelligence network.
After all, he was a person who had once dared to plot a rebellion.
And this old man didn't have many years left to live. Wasn't this kid exactly the kind of talent she needed?
He was a young ninja with a stubborn mind, a fanatical personality, and a readiness to sacrifice himself for Konoha at any moment.
She now had a clear understanding of Uchiha Yoru's personality. He was a responsible person who was loyal to his clan and the village.
He was a kid who even awakened his Sharingan out of self-blame!
In the future, when the Uchiha Elder died of his illness, this kid could take his place, couldn't he?
Was there any difference between this intelligence network being in this kid's hands and in her own hands?
Thinking of this, a smile appeared on Tsunade's face.
"Kid, you're too naive!"
Tsunade let out a cold snort. She was already on guard. The Uchiha knew to be wary of the Third, but her own Senju clan didn't.
This kid thought it was the work of a spy, but her perspective was not so simple. If a spy knew this much, it would be terrifying.
Konoha would have been infiltrated like a sieve long ago.
And since this intelligence was given to her by the Uchiha clan's old man, its meaning was clear!
Thinking of this, Tsunade realized that this was the Uchiha clan's "pledge of allegiance." They wanted to ease their relationship with the village and gain their trust!
With Uchiha Yoru's constant talk about how the village was founded by both the Senju and Uchiha and how the Uchiha's good relationship with the Senju was to gain the village's trust, Tsunade was subtly beginning to equate the Senju with the village itself.
After all, she wasn't wrong to think this way. The Senju founded the village, the First and Second Hokages were her grandfathers, and the Third Hokage was just a temporary replacement. Who would dare say that the Senju and the village weren't one and the same?
"Captain Tsunade, I!"
Uchiha Yoru's face was flushed with embarrassment. After all, the mission he had received was difficult to talk about, especially for the proud Uchiha clan.
No one was willing to take on this mission, preferring to go to the front lines in the Rain Country instead.
Seeing Uchiha Yoru's embarrassment, Tsunade gave an arrogant, cold snort.
"Kid, I, the Senju clan, have felt the goodwill of your Uchiha clan. I won't interfere with the Kushina matter, but you have to remember one thing: don't try to pull any tricks on me!"
At this point, a warning look appeared in Tsunade's eyes.
When Uchiha Yoru saw her warning gaze, he thumped his chest and nodded resolutely.
"You can rest assured, Captain Tsunade, I bet on the honor of the Uchiha!"
He wasn't stupid. If he actually got close to Kushina Uzumaki, he would become a thorn in the side of the Third Hokage's faction. He might end up like a second Nawaki, dying in a simple mission for no reason.
He had accepted this mission, just as Mikoto had helped him, and he would only go through the motions. At the same time, he was ready.
If he couldn't have it, no one else could either.
He didn't believe that Kushina Uzumaki, a person who had lost her home and clan and was naturally wary of others, would easily trust someone under his instigation.
"Kid, this matter ends here."
Looking at Tsunade, Uchiha Yoru nodded solemnly.
"Don't worry, Captain Tsunade, I'm aware of the ninja secrecy laws. And I have a Uchiha clan seal in my mind that will prevent me from revealing any information."
Noble clans had their own ways of preventing information leaks, such as mental seals, to prevent enemies from using genjutsu to pry useful information from them on the battlefield.
This was why Tsunade had not used genjutsu on him from the very beginning, even when he had passed out after awakening his bloodline.
The Uchiha Elder revealing so much information was a clear gesture of goodwill. If she had done so, it would have shown hostility and distrust.
Tsunade wasn't stupid.
And when Uchiha Yoru saw the goodwill Tsunade was showing, he secretly breathed a sigh of relief. As for the big lie he had pinned on Elder Setsuna, he could only say it was all for the clan, and if Elder Setsuna knew, he would definitely support him.
