In the original, Hachi guides Ace to Shakuyaku and Rayleigh's place, but I started off wondering what to do here.
Of course, I knew from online sources that the craftsman Ace had previously hired was Rayleigh, so I decided to go with that. However,
when I actually read the manga, I found out that the craftsman was Rayleigh, and that Ace didn't want to meet him because of his grudge against Roger... Hmm. It also
seems like he hadn't met Shakuyaku yet, so I ended up just wandering around.
In the original, there's a scene where she's a fan of the Island of Justice, but that's not the case here... It was a bit of a stretch, but I decided to become interested in her after learning about the incident in Alabasta (and her connection with Garp).

The biggest problem I had with creating this story was how Rayleigh would find out that Uta is Shanks' daughter.
I don't think Luffy or Makino know that Shanks was raised by Roger and Rayleigh, and conversely, Uta probably wouldn't have heard it from Shanks herself... If they
were to find out by chance, I thought they'd mention Shanks in Rayleigh's reminiscences or something. At first, I thought Rayleigh might have let it slip to Adele or someone watching the work, but I somehow wanted to make it seem like Rayleigh thought of Oto as his grandson (or rather, great-grandson), so I made them acquainted, and that's how the story ended up revealing it.
Also, as in the story, Adele's lack of knowledge about Shanks is too heavy for a child to know, so I ended up just assuming that Uta harbors some kind of animosity toward some pirate on Amazon Lily.
Well, even if Oto didn't hear it from Uta, I think she probably overheard Luffy and the others explaining it to them, and it wouldn't be strange for her name to come up in Gordon and Uta's conversation.

They probably won't say anything about Shanks's actions as a pirate, but if they were to claim him as their "parent" after seeing them, that would be different.
Just like in the original story, he reunites with Shanks at Sabaody Archipelago,
quietly angry at the fact that Shanks had abandoned his child, let alone left him to starve to death.
He promises to help in place of Shanks, who has abandoned his parental responsibilities.
…I actually wanted to follow that up with a plot twist where he refuses to charge for the coating, as if to say, "I can't take money from my grandson," but I didn't have the space to incorporate it.
One thing I forgot to explain: Sabaody Archipelago takes place further in time than the original story, so Rayleigh sells himself and steals money from the Human Shop, the Celestial Dragons return without being hit by Luffy, and the Worst Generation sets sail one after another.
In the original story, these problems occur before Ace's execution, but in this work, I'm considering the time it takes to travel from Water 7 to the East Blue and reach Amazon Island to roughly the same place, so all of these events have already passed.
I'm considering an if scenario in which Luffy from this work makes a move on a Celestial Dragon, but the connections and developments later on are quite forced, so I might include it if the opportunity arises.
