The earth wailed, and the mountains trembled!
Across the vast plains, colossal monsters advanced!
They were giants... or rather, humanoid monstrosities!
Indeed, they were beings that could only be called monsters!
The mere sight of these terrifying creatures filled Rin Tohsaka's heart with dread!
Towering trees, hundreds of meters tall, were grasped effortlessly by these giants, wielded like maces.
Flames burned upon the trees, resembling torches in human hands, but these flames roared fiercely, capable of incinerating a person instantly, unlike a human torch that would take time to do so.
Massive mountains were pushed by these giants, colliding and stacking into stairways beyond human imagination, leading to even higher peaks where a grand, sacred, and mysterious palace stood.
"Gigantes!"
"This is the war of gods and giants!"
In an instant, Rin realized where she was. This was the great war recorded in Greek mythology, the battle between gods and giants. With Heracles's aid, the gods triumphed over these giants, known as the Gigantes... one of Heracles's legendary feats.
Then, she saw a deity wreathed in lightning. Divine light descended from the heavens, striking the giants, but despite its power, the attack had little effect, failing to even breach their defenses!
Zeus, the Greek God-King, and his attacks were ineffective against these creatures?
Even though mythology stated the gods couldn't kill them without mortal aid, witnessing it firsthand was shocking.
The lightning's power was so terrifying it could likely obliterate a mountain, yet it did nothing to these giants?!
How could humans face such formidable monsters? Even Heracles... could he resist them solely because of an oracle?
Then, Rin saw a roaring youth, his robust frame, though dwarfed by the giants, massive among humans.
He raised his weapon, striking a giant with force. The scene was almost comical, like a mouse swinging a stick at a human.
Yet, under his attack, the giant was wounded!
The gods' attacks followed, targeting the wound, their ferocious strikes tearing through everything, erasing the giant's life!
In that moment, a realization dawned on Rin.
"So, humans break through the Gigantes' special defenses, and the gods attack the exposed areas to deliver the killing blow?"
She thought her deduction was correct.
At that moment, a sword appeared in her hands... a glowing sword, a two-handed blade that didn't belong in the Age of Gods. She felt its wild power.
Magical energy erupted from it, forming a dazzling beam like a particle ray. The torrent of mana surged forward, obliterating several Gigantes in its path!
Giants grazed by the attack had their outer layers shattered, exposing their inner tissues.
Nearby, a girl surrounded by numerous magical arrays waved her staff, unleashing a barrage of mana bullets, bombarding the now-vulnerable giants with firepower akin to a Gatling gun.
Without exception, the giants, their defenses broken, couldn't withstand such an onslaught and fell one by one!
The gods were stunned by the attack, their gazes turning toward Rin's direction.
Rin froze for a moment before realizing the perspective she occupied wasn't her own but that of the glowing sword's wielder.
The gods' awe was directed at this mysterious figure, likely a human, for why else would they be shocked?
But whose perspective was this, and why was she here in the Greece of the Age of Gods? Was it a dream? Even if it was, despite all the stories and myths she'd read, could she really dream something this vivid?
Filled with questions, the girl silently observed the battle. Though she couldn't hear anything, she could sense the emotions of the person fighting.
Not words, but feelings... indefinable yet expressive of the person's state.
Joy, anger, pain... all conveyed their condition.
What Rin felt was boredom, as if this legendary war held no interest, as if it were utterly meaningless.
The owner of these emotions seemed to say, "If only I could face a stronger enemy," Though no words were spoken, and Rin couldn't hear them. Still, she sensed this sentiment.
…
Slowly opening her eyes, Rin yawned, turned off her alarm clock, and left her bed.
Unlike her usual morning grogginess, she was surprisingly alert.
Glancing at the sunlight outside, where birds heralded the morning, she recalled her dream, sinking into confusion.
"It really was a dream, but what was it? I can't understand… If it was the Gigantomachy I know, the differences are too vast. Why were there so many unfamiliar figures? Not only was my perspective that of a stranger, but that woman with the magical barrage shouldn't exist in the Gigantomachy's story…
"But was it really just a dream? For a dream, I remember it too clearly... even the details, that sense of boredom, I can still recall…"
Puzzled, Rin picked up the jewel from her nightstand, fastening it to her wrist before heading out.
In the living room, she saw Morpheus on the sofa, reading a book, and yawned.
"Morning…"
"Good morning, Rin," Morpheus said, looking up with a smile. "You don't sleep with that jewel on, do you?"
Rin paused, glancing at her wrist, then shook her head. "What, like sleeping with glasses on? No way! I keep it on the nightstand."
"Oh, really? I thought you valued it so much you'd wear it to bed," Morpheus said, returning to his book.
His words made Rin pause, then she said, "It is important to me."
"Is it? Tell me about it over breakfast. I'm curious."
Rin didn't respond, heading to the bathroom where the sound of running water soon echoed.
