Chapter 237 - 《DXD: Infinite Loot System》Chapter 237: Twilight of the Gods

Evening at the Kamiyo household. Tenra and the girls gathered around the dinner table, laughter mixing with the aroma of a feast.

"You're bringing the entire kendo club on the school trip?"

Tenra had just dropped the news, and every girl at the table stared at him like he'd sprouted a second head.

"Yeah. My adorable club members asked so sweetly—I couldn't say no." Tenra replied, popping a piece of tempura into his mouth.

Rias shot him a skeptical look. "You've got over a hundred members, right? Second-years alone are a handful, but you're including first and third-years too? Sona would never sign off on that sort of chaos."

Tenra coughed, just a little too quickly. "Sona's actually pretty reasonable. I asked her nicely, and she agreed."

Akeno and Rias exchanged a glance, both fighting back coughs of their own. Sona was known for her ironclad principles. There was no way she'd bend the rules just because Tenra "asked nicely."

But the girls were sharp. They watched Tenra bury himself in his food and wisely let it drop—for now.

Akeno's eyes glinted with mischief, and Rias's gentle smile didn't quite reach her eyes. Tenra had been spending a suspicious amount of time in the student council room lately. Rias made a mental note: time to have a little heart-to-heart with Sona.

Though Tenra had promised the club, they'd have to wait for the school's official schedule. In the meantime, life at Kuoh Academy rolled on.

Up at the front, the teacher droned on, voice as soothing as a sedative. By the window, Tenra slouched over his desk, eyes closed, looking every bit the bored student. But beneath the surface, he was probing the abilities of his newly acquired Sacred Gears. Anyone paying close attention might have noticed his shadow flickering and twisting in strange patterns underfoot.

Not that anyone could see—Rias, Akeno, and Ravel had him surrounded, shielding him from prying eyes.

Suddenly, a commotion erupted outside.

"Look! What's that? It's like a carriage—flying through the sky!"

"It's coming down! It's headed this way!"

Students crowded the windows, their excitement contagious. Tenra sat up, peering out—and his expression changed.

Across the sky, an eight-legged gray horse thundered toward the campus, dragging a battered palace behind it. With a deafening crash, it landed square on the athletic field.

Tenra and the girls recognized it instantly: Odin's divine war chariot.

"Rias!"

Without hesitation, Tenra vaulted through the open window. The girls followed, their faces shifting from surprise to grim determination as they unfurled devil and fallen angel wings and soared after him—leaving behind a classroom full of stunned students and a speechless teacher.

"They… they just flew away! Rias-san and the others—flew!"

Kuoh Academy's athletic field was chaos incarnate.

"Eight legs! That horse has eight legs!"

"It's a monster! That's a monster!"

"This is the real world—am I dreaming? I must be dreaming!"

The chariot's impact had left a crater in the turf. The gray beast stood in the center, snorting calmly as students gawked in shock and disbelief.

"Sona!"

"Tenra Kamiyo! Rias!"

As Tenra and the girls touched down, Sona arrived with her peerage, wings outstretched.

Their arrival only deepened the confusion—black devil wings and supernatural beauty were more than enough to short-circuit the average teenager's sense of reality.

"Well, this just got lively," Sona said dryly.

"Tenra Kamiyo, Rias—you handle Odin's group. We'll restore order here."

"Got it!"

With a few quick words, they split up. Tenra and Rias's group approached Odin's chariot while Sona and Tsubaki threw up a barrier around the field and began wide-range memory erasure magic, making sure no one would remember the supernatural spectacle.

Odin stepped down from the wrecked chariot, his usual grandeur battered and bruised. "Sorry to trouble you, Tenra."

"Odin-sama, what happened?" Tenra asked, brow furrowing.

Odin's chariot looked like it had barely survived a war.

"We'll talk in a moment. First, see to Baraqiel."

Rossweisse helped Baraqiel down from the chariot. He was a mess—blood-soaked, grievously wounded, a ragged hole torn through his chest.

Tenra's face darkened. Akeno gasped, her voice trembling. "Father!"

Occult Research Club

"Don't worry, Akeno-neesan. Baraqiel-sama's going to be fine."

Asia wiped sweat from her brow, offering a reassuring smile.

"Thank you, Asia." Akeno squeezed her friend's hand, relief flooding her face. She helped Baraqiel sit up.

"Father, how are you feeling?"

"Thanks to your companion's healing, I'm alright, Akeno." Baraqiel managed a weak smile.

Seeing Akeno's concern, Baraqiel felt every wound had been worth it.

Across the room, Tenra waited for Odin and Rossweisse to rejoin them, both now in fresh clothes.

"Odin-sama, can you tell us what happened?"

Odin sank into a chair. "As you saw, we were attacked."

"Was it the Hero Faction again?"

Odin shook his head. "Not this time. The problem came from inside our own pantheon."

"It was Loki—the Evil God Loki."

Tenra's eyebrow rose. Odin sighed and continued, "I've been trying to build bridges—to get devils, angels, fallen angels, and all the pantheons talking. Peace, coexistence. But Loki… Loki would rather trigger Ragnarok. He wants to wipe out every god from every other pantheon."

The words hit like a thunderclap. The girls stared, stunned.

"He wants to start Ragnarok? Is he insane?!"

"In a word—yes." Odin's smile was bitter. "Because of my actions, Loki sees me as a traitor to the Norse gods. He's decided to take me out."

Tenra understood now. It was politics, Norse-style—Odin, the peacemaker, versus Loki, the warmonger. Loki wasn't happy with Odin's outreach and had chosen violence.

Not that Tenra cared. Other people's drama was their business. As for Loki's grand threats—bring on Ragnarok? Tenra wasn't losing sleep.

Anyone could talk big. It didn't mean they had the power to back it up.

"By the way, who managed to injure Father-in-law? His power matches Azazel's. Loki alone couldn't have done that."

Odin's face grew grim. "That was Fenrir—the magic wolf. Loki summoned it. Baraqiel got caught trying to save some civilians and took a bite from its 'God-Slaying Fangs.'"

Tenra nodded. That explained it.

He glanced at Baraqiel, now quietly talking with Akeno, and couldn't help but smile. Who'd have guessed Father-in-law was such a soft-hearted iron giant?

The crisis seemed resolved—for now. Tenra had no interest in getting tangled in mythological politics; Sirzechs and the others would handle the aftermath. He thought his part was over.

But, as usual, fate had other plans. Tenra was about to get dragged into this mess whether he liked it or not…
