I let my senses sweep over everything as I flew through the air. Wind cut past my face; it wasn't a wise choice to move through this land, which I had only heard of through novels, being run down by beasts.
Technically, as a reader, what one reads forms an imagination, and for me, the imagination of this ancient realm was filled with beasts, a line of army, strongmen, and whatnot, working under the Empress as if it were some kind of factory. But what I saw was just a different world here.
From up here, the view stretched out—miles and miles of dense forest below, the canopy so thick it looked like one continuous green blanket.
But my enhanced perception picked up details most would miss.
Scattered throughout the forest, I could sense bodies. Orc women, from what I could tell. Their energy signatures were rough, primal, clustered in groups that formed rough circles. Like they were surrounding something.
