Chapter 33 - DG 33: Master Schemer

Alaric gazed curiously at the red dragon sisters, whispering to each other.

He realized he had, perhaps unwittingly, accomplished something remarkable.

Truth be told, at the outset, he hadn't expected these sisters, who had never met before, to spark anything significant. He had merely brought Morgan before Artoria on a whim, hoping they could clear the air early and avoid the tragedies that might follow.

He succeeded.

But judging by the current situation… he might have succeeded a bit too well.

"Hmph, if they're so eager to die, don't blame me!"

After grasping what those kings were plotting, a ruthless glint flashed in Morgan's eyes.

It was clear that this fallen princess, who preferred to cloister herself in dark rooms, lacked the talent to be a king or lead a nation. Yet, in another area, her abilities were unparalleled, as if her skill tree had been maxed out from birth.

... Conspiracy and intrigue.

This was why Alaric felt he might have been too successful.

If Morgan had merely reconciled with Artoria, accepting her illegitimate sister, it would have been a simple family reunion, a heartwarming tale at best.

But when Morgan realized her sister was treading the same path as their father, targeted for betrayal by those vile kings, the malice buried deep within her could no longer be contained. It spilled over, nearly coalescing into something tangible.

"Leave it to me." Morgan said.

"I'll find a way to make those fools band together."

"Then, you just take this dragon and crush their lives along with their ambitions!"

Morgan began scheming.

It was a chilling prospect... for in history, she was Britain's greatest "master schemer." Her mind brimming with endless wicked plans that ultimately buried King Arthur and her kingdom.

Yet now, watching Morgan stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Artoria, her face radiating confidence, Alaric found it oddly thrilling.

It was like… well, a bizarre blend of Liu Bei with Guan Yu's martial prowess and Jia Xu's dream of restoring the Han Dynasty?

Dawn was approaching.

Time seemed to fly when the sisters were together. They hadn't even discussed much before it was time to part.

... Morgan insisted on leaving to carry out her "lure them into the trap" plan.

"Are you sure you'll be alright alone? You don't have to push yourself. Even without those schemes, I can persuade the other kings."

Artoria looked at Morgan with concern... in her eyes, her sister seemed frail, as if a gust of wind could topple her.

Morgan said nothing, only smiled.

But as they were about to part, Morgan gave her newfound sister a "grand gift."

Hidden in a cave were weapons and armor, enough to equip a hundred-man cavalry unit... a true heavy cavalry, the kind where a hundred riders could topple a nation.

"They're not really mine."

"They were left by Father, meant for Camelot's heir... I thought they were for me!"

Morgan gave a self-deprecating laugh, then led Artoria deeper into the cave.

In a narrow chamber, barely wide enough for one person to stand, Artoria, at Morgan's urging, stepped inside and found a white greatsword.

The blade was broad and heavy, nearly the weight of a two-handed sword. Magical energy flowed across its surface... standing there, Artoria could feel the searing heat within that energy.

[Caliburn].

A holy sword imbued with the power of the sun, its strength and rank among the highest tier. Its wielder would gain the sun's blessing, tripling their strength when standing in sunlight.

"It's perfect. I can feel the power in this holy sword... it suits my attributes perfectly."

"It'll make me even stronger."

Someone gave the sword glowing praise.

But alas, the one praising it wasn't its current wielder.

It was the white dragon circling in the sky, his azure eyes gleaming with innocent purity.

"For me, this is a top-tier, incredibly valuable upgrade material."

"And this holy sword isn't really suited for you."

"Wait, you're not going to keep it from me, are you?"

In the end, Artoria didn't feed the "Holy Sword of the Sun" To Alaric.

She knew he was right... the sword's attributes weren't quite suited to her, and she couldn't unleash its full potential.

But what did that matter? For her now, even barehanded, she could defeat most enemies on this island, so she didn't care much about what weapon she wielded.

What truly mattered was the sword's significance: a gift from her sister, bearing the Pendragon family's enduring hopes. She would treasure it and absolutely not treat it as "upgrade material" To feed to Alaric, who, admittedly, was quite compatible with the sword.

"I'm not letting you eat it."

"If you could turn human, I'd definitely give it to you."

Artoria said jokingly.

But the dragon in the sky suddenly fell silent... sparking Artoria's curiosity. Could he actually turn human?

No, it would be stranger if he couldn't.

Merlin had once said that gods have no fixed form. They appear in the world as the masses perceive them.

And in those myths, gods often had multiple forms: the most famous being Zeus of Olympus, who could become a pure shepherd boy, a beautiful goddess, or a mighty bull…

"No, I won't turn human."

"At least, not yet."
