Chapter 5 - chapter 4: coconut flavor and vanilla

Sin POV

"Yummmm," Charles moaned, practically melting into his seat. "I told you this tastes so good, bro. I could eat this forever."

Sin raised a brow, chewing slowly. "Mmm," he nodded in agreement, "It does taste nice."

"Please," Charles rolled his eyes dramatically. "You're always like this. Everything tastes 'nice' to you—even if it's trash. You've always been a foodie."

Sin cracked a small smile, rare and fleeting. "That's not true."

Charles leaned forward with a grin. "Nahhh, it is. Still, this dish really does hit hard. I hope we can come here again—maybe next week? Or even tomor—"

He paused mid-sentence.

Sin was no longer listening. He wasn't even looking at him.

"Hey." Charles snapped his fingers. "Anything the matter, buddy?"

Sin didn't answer immediately. His eyes were locked on the empty space in front of him, like a phantom was dancing there. In his mind, the scent of coconut flovor and vanilla still lingered—soft, haunting, unforgettable. That hair… so silky it had slipped through his fingers like it belonged to a dream.

He didn't even realize he was smiling.

"Sin?"

Sin blinked, regaining focus. "I'm fine."

Charles narrowed his eyes suspiciously. "Hmmm. I'd call BS, but I'll let it go."

Sin took a sip of his water and said nothing.

Charles grinned again. "Anyway, let's go have some fun in the cluuuuu—"

Riiiiiing.

Sin's phone buzzed on the table. One glance at the screen and he swiped to answer.

"Speak," he said sharply, his voice cold enough to send a chill down anyone's spine.

"Ahhh… boss," a voice stammered on the other end. "We've got a problem in the warehouse. It's urgent."

Sin didn't blink. "On my way."

Click.

He stood up, adjusted the cuffs of his shirt, and slipped into his dark suit jacket.

Charles sighed, grabbing his half-full juice. "Why is it always when I'm eating?"

Sin gave him a look. "You and food—unbreakable love story."

They left the restaurant, stepped into the sleek black car waiting outside, and sped into the night, the streets of New York blurring past as Sin's mind drifted once more—to the girl with coconut flavor and vanilla scent on her hair
